This blog post introduces examples of experiences that can be persuasively presented in a management support self-introduction letter, based on practical relevance and organizational understanding, along with writing tips.
Passionate Experience
“Sacrificing personal life to study business and economics.”
I originally majored in humanities. Impressed by my professor’s words, “The root of all disciplines is the humanities,” I entered the humanities department and studied literature, history, philosophy, and other so-called ‘humanities’ disciplines. While the humanities provided an excellent foundation for deepening my thinking, over time I increasingly felt I needed a more practical and realistic discipline. So, in my third year, I belatedly chose business administration as a double major.
However, business turned out to be a much tougher field than I anticipated. There was a fundamental gap in background knowledge compared to students who had majored in business since their first year, and this gap was wider and deeper than I had imagined. To overcome this, I decided to join a central club focused on studying business and economics.
That club operated with a system far stricter than I could have imagined, demanding an exceptionally high level of learning. Most members were outstanding seniors, fostering an atmosphere where everyone spurred each other onward. Yet at the time, I was juggling dual majors in Humanities and Business, preparing for an overseas internship by attending language classes, and working part-time jobs to make ends meet. With my days already packed solid, joining that club felt like an almost impossible challenge.
Nevertheless, having decided to major in business, I was determined to study properly. So I boldly sacrificed my personal life. I woke up at 6 a.m. every morning, took a light walk, then went to the language institute for English study. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., I worked my part-time job. After that, I attended classes, went to the library to finish assignments, and then participated in the club meeting starting at 8 p.m., often taking exams there.
At first, no matter how hard I studied, my skills didn’t improve, and I consistently ranked last in the club. But fueled solely by the resolve to ‘never give up,’ I persevered day after day. Eventually, I achieved first place in the club’s exams and became a role model for everyone.
That effort led to various accomplishments. I scored highly on the Maekyung TEST, and in my senior year, I received an Excellence Award at the school’s economics competition. I also won first place in a newspaper essay contest, which led to me becoming a business and economics mentor at a high school affiliated with the university.
For about two years, I had to run nonstop. I had no time for small daily moments with friends or leisure on weekends, but all that time remains with me as an experience where I burned with passion. Looking back now, it was precisely because of those times that I could grow, and it was through that process that I could become stronger.
Even now, when I recall that time, I reaffirm the truth that passion is ultimately the most powerful force that drives me.
Achievement Experience
“Learning to Connect with People While Leading a Youth Camp”
During my sophomore year of university, I achieved a certain level on the TOSS certification. This accomplishment sparked my goal to study abroad. However, the reality was far from easy, and while struggling with the cost, a notice caught my eye. It was recruiting ‘leaders’ to run a youth language camp. The prospect of full funding for a 10-night, 11-day overseas stay if selected, plus a trip to Europe for outstanding participants after the program, made my eyes light up.
There was no reason not to challenge myself. I immediately prepared my application, and the mix of nervousness and excitement I felt during that process is still vivid in my memory. Applicants gathered from all over the country were uniformly energetic and full of personality. Some even sang or danced during the interviews to showcase themselves. After much deliberation, I focused on how I could demonstrate my ability to communicate effectively with teenagers. I imagined various scenarios that could arise during the camp, then presented appropriate guidance methods and communication approaches in a short 5-minute speech.
As a result, I broke through the high 80:1 competition ratio and was finally selected, ready to begin my activities.
The team I was assigned to consisted of friends ranging from 5th grade elementary school to 1st grade high school, diverse in both age and skill level. Together, we had to travel across Canada for 10 days, combining English lessons with cultural experiences. As a camp leader, I was responsible for the children’s safety in this unfamiliar country, and smoothly communicating with children possessing diverse perspectives and sensibilities was also my duty. It was far more demanding than I had anticipated, but within that challenge, I began to learn something important.
Especially when friends were struggling, I made an effort to draw closer, open my heart, and communicate sincerely. I aimed to go beyond simply fulfilling my role as a leader; I wanted to be a friend and a helper. As each day passed, a natural bond formed with the children in my team. On the final day of camp, I was deeply moved when they wrote handwritten letters for me and even gave me small gifts.
Through this camp experience, I grew not just as a ‘leader,’ but as someone who could ‘communicate sincerely.’ Thinking from the children’s perspective and learning to understand their feelings taught me how to care for others, and this experience continues to resonate deeply in my life.
The youth camp was not just a part-time job. It was a valuable journey that tested me and helped me realize what true communication between people really is.
Personal Strengths
“Understanding Humanity Through Broad Study and Diverse Experience”
My greatest strength lies in possessing broad knowledge spanning the humanities, business, and economics. I deeply studied the fundamentals of disciplines like literature, history, and philosophy as my primary majors. I also passionately immersed myself in business studies, which I began later, building substantial skills. I approached economics systematically through study groups and ultimately earned high marks, gaining recognition for my abilities.
While studying these diverse disciplines, I consistently endeavored to understand people and society in the real world, not merely remaining within theory. Indeed, through various experiences, I was able to internalize these studies within my life. I have traveled abroad twice: once as a leader for a youth camp, where I guided a team, and another time exploring Japan and several European countries, allowing me to directly observe, feel, and learn about diverse cultures and management styles.
Moreover, I gained firsthand experience of life’s many facets through various part-time jobs. From simple factory labor to convenience stores, restaurant serving, and motorcycle delivery, I encountered and interacted with countless people while doing diverse work. These experiences went beyond mere labor; they greatly helped cultivate the mindset of ‘putting oneself in another’s shoes’ – thinking from the other person’s perspective and empathizing.
Ultimately, I believe all these experiences and studies have given me the important value of ‘understanding people’. This understanding and empathy, often considered lacking in today’s younger generation, will be a great asset as I navigate my professional life.
If given the opportunity to work in LG Electronics’ management support role, I will leverage this broad knowledge, experience, and my desire to understand people to get along well with anyone and learn responsibly. I promise to approach my work with sincerity and become an employee who makes LG Electronics shine even brighter.
Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality
“I adapt well anywhere.”
The greatest strength of my personality is ‘adaptability’. While I’m not overly outgoing or bursting with energy, I get along well with people and quickly blend in naturally even in unfamiliar environments. Thanks to this, I often hear comments like, “You have such a pleasant demeanor,” “You seem like such a kind person.” Meeting diverse people and experiencing various environments taught me to adapt naturally to both people and situations.
Beyond adapting in relationships, flexibility in adjusting to different environments is another strength. For instance, I started with general waitstaff part-time jobs and, when circumstances required, also took on day laborer jobs often referred to as ‘manual labor.’ Through these jobs, I realized that you shouldn’t let pride get in the way, nor should you look down on others. Only by viewing each other as equals can you truly adapt to that environment.
That’s how I learned to blend into different groups through various part-time jobs and mastered the art of finding harmony even in vastly different walks of life. Thanks to my ability to adapt effortlessly to new environments, whether traveling across Europe or living in Canada, I was always someone who “ate well and slept well.” Even in shared accommodations with strangers who had restless sleep habits, I could sleep soundly without disturbance.
Wherever I go, whatever the situation, I am confident I can thrive without being shaken. This disposition will be a significant advantage when meeting diverse people in my future management support role, enabling me to communicate flexibly with anyone, provide natural support, and move forward together.
On the other hand, a weakness in my personality is ‘excessive eagerness for new things’. When something new appears, my desire to challenge it without hesitation often leads me to make rash choices. However, I am gradually changing this aspect over time. Now, rather than just ‘jumping in,’ I plan first and assess whether the plan is feasible before taking on a challenge. While in the past, ‘unrelenting drive’ was everything, I am now evolving towards a balance of ‘judgment and execution.’
For me, ‘adaptability’ isn’t just about getting used to a new environment; it’s the power to give my best within it and grow myself. Underpinning this is a genuine care for people, flexibility in accepting situations, and a willingness to take on challenges. Moving forward, I aim to build on this adaptability to progress in a better direction, becoming someone who quietly fulfills their role in any environment.
Future Aspirations
“I will approach my work with a proactive attitude and become a rising star at LG Electronics.”
LG is no longer just a Korean company. Living in Toronto, I experienced LG’s global standing firsthand. Seeing LG products used everywhere on the streets filled me with immense pride as a Korean. Being part of LG, a global company beloved worldwide, and handling management support means more than simple administrative tasks. It requires meeting diverse people and communicating and coordinating flexibly across various cultures and situations.
I am confident in this role. I possess exceptional adaptability, capable of surviving even in extreme environments by utilizing available resources. Like the saying, “Even if left in the desert, I’d survive by eating cactus and make it back,” I am someone who maintains my center in any environment and finds solutions in my own way.
Through countless experiences, I’ve realized I am someone who is comfortable anywhere. My affinity for approaching people without burdening them, coupled with my sincere approach to communication, is a strength I believe can inject positive energy into any organization.
Moving forward at LG Electronics, I will serve as a vital bridge connecting executives and operational teams, working at the heart of operations with an honest and diligent attitude. I will strive to be someone who connects people and organizations with greater kindness, greater proactivity, and greater responsibility.
I sincerely wish to work alongside you. I look forward to our collaboration.
