This blog post explores how to authentically convey both sincerity and professionalism in a construction industry self-introduction letter, focusing on the attitude of thinking and acting from the customer’s perspective.
Growth Background
“I grew up in a family that cherished promises.”
I was born to a father working in the architectural facilities field and a mother employed as a civil servant. My father, in particular, was always busy due to the nature of his work and wasn’t home much. To help out in his absence, I often assisted with tasks or ran errands for my mother, naturally becoming involved in the family’s economic activities.
However, being young, I didn’t feel a deep sense of responsibility back then and didn’t fully grasp the importance of the tasks I was given. For instance, when my father went on business trips for external facility work and needed extra hands, I would help out. Yet, wanting to play with friends, I would sometimes be late for appointments or break them altogether.
Each time this happened, my father would quietly sit me down and lecture me at length. His words, “No matter how small the matter, you must always keep your promises. The attitude of keeping promises must be ingrained from childhood,” remain etched in my memory to this day. From that point on, I began to deeply engrave my father’s words in my heart and gradually put into practice the attitude of valuing promises.
Gradually, I developed the habit of arriving 10 to 30 minutes early to wait for others. This habit became more than just punctuality; it formed a crucial standard shaping my attitude and character. Even for casual meetups with friends, I always arrived first, naturally earning a reputation as a “reliable person” and allowing me to build deeper bonds in my relationships.
This attitude proved a major advantage in university life. For classes, I arrived at the lecture hall before the professor to prepare. For presentations, I completed my materials well in advance, reviewed them multiple times, and approached the presentation calmly, rather than scrambling at the last minute. As a result, I minimized mistakes and earned a reputation as someone who could always be trusted with team projects or group assignments.
The perception of me as ‘someone who keeps promises’ went beyond a simple character strength; it became a crucial driving force for my growth. Though a small daily habit, its accumulation and repetition positively impacted my life, and I intend to keep it as a core value guiding my future.
School Days
“Deciding on a career path early and challenging new fields”
During high school, I decided on my career path relatively early and resolved to pursue studies in the construction field. Since my father worked in construction, I naturally had many opportunities to assist him and experience the field firsthand. This experience clarified my career direction.
I believed that while interests and talents vary from person to person, it’s crucial to choose a career in a field where you feel comfortable and capable. With that conviction, I resolved to enter the construction industry, which I had observed and experienced extensively since childhood. As my first step toward this path, I enrolled in a Meister High School, where I systematically studied both the theory and practical skills of the industrial field.
Fortunately, the school was well-equipped with the latest industrial facilities and practical training equipment. This allowed me to gain ample experience in design practice and field-focused hands-on training. Through this process, I personally felt the importance of practical skills and developed an interest in the diverse aspects of the construction industry.
After graduating high school, many friends prepared for immediate employment, but I set a longer-term goal. My dream was not to become a mere technician, but to grow into a CEO within the construction industry. To achieve this goal, I judged that I needed not only strong practical knowledge in my major, but also strategic and managerial capabilities.
After much consideration, I enrolled in the ‘Global Construction Engineering Department’. At the time, this department was a relatively newly established interdisciplinary program, allowing me to study not only construction engineering, but also diverse fields like global strategy, management, and collaboration. Though initially unfamiliar and challenging, I believed pioneering a new path in this ‘blue ocean’ field would better serve my career.
Ultimately, my choice yielded highly positive results. As a newly established department, we received strong university-level support, and students were passionate pioneers. We voluntarily formed teams to tackle project-based practical assignments, building our collaboration skills.
A particularly memorable experience was an industry-academia collaboration project where I interned at an actual engineering company. Deployed as a team to the field, we experienced real-world work and even achieved new outcomes that hadn’t existed before. The company was working on a global expansion project, and my participation allowed me to attend international seminars and engage with diverse practical domains.
These experiences became invaluable assets, taking me one step closer to the future I aspire to, beyond mere learning.
Even now, I am truly grateful to myself for deciding on my career path early and choosing unfamiliar yet meaningful challenges. I intend to continue learning and challenging myself without losing that initial passion.
Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality
“The passion of youth! And the tenacity to never give up!”
As a child, I wasn’t particularly healthy. I often suffered from muscle pain or dislocated shoulders, indicating physical weaknesses. Typically, children with frail bodies tend to skip gym class or avoid active movement. I was in that same situation, but I hated seeing myself as weak. So, I threw myself into sports harder than anyone else.
To toughen myself up, I voluntarily joined the soccer club and never missed a single practice. As a result, I compensated for my naturally weak muscles, and strong muscle power began to develop in my arms and legs. The recurring shoulder dislocations also gradually eased. Alongside soccer, I consistently participated in physical therapy programs, striving to improve flexibility through stretching.
Thanks to these efforts, I earned the nickname ‘Spirit Man’ among my friends during my school years. Especially during sports, even when my skills were lacking, I never lost the attitude of always pushing through to the end. That attitude left a strong impression on many friends. However, many around me worried I was pushing too hard and might get injured.
Even during my military service, I was physically eligible for public service duty. Yet, I voluntarily enlisted as an active-duty soldier and completed my full term in the Army. During my service, I participated in a marathon, persevering to finish the race. As a result, I achieved a commendable second-place finish.
Through this relentless effort to overcome physical limitations, I gained two powerful character traits: ‘perseverance’ and ‘grit’. I became stronger both physically and mentally, and these experiences have become invaluable assets that sustain me today.
Moving forward, I will never give up in the face of any difficulty and will never lose the attitude of giving my absolute best to every task assigned to me.
Hobbies and Special Skills
“A sports enthusiast who enjoys skating and climbing”
My hobby is exercise. Being physically frail as a child, I began consistently participating in sports to build my stamina. Through this process, my strength improved, and I developed a healthy physique. Since then, exercise has become an integral part of my life, and I continue to stay closely connected to it.
Among them, skating and climbing are my favorites. I first started skating because it was relatively easy to learn without requiring excessive strength. The feeling of gaining speed and moving freely became increasingly appealing, deepening my interest. Climbing began as part of my rehabilitation therapy, but over time, I found the thrill of challenge and the sense of accomplishment, naturally turning it into a hobby.
Even now, I always set aside one day a week specifically for skating. I practice alone at a skate park near my home, spending an average of over three hours a day honing my skills. I started by participating in beginner training programs, but through consistent practice, I’ve now reached an intermediate level or higher.
I enjoy climbing at artificial rock climbing walls at least three times a month. Recently, indoor climbing facilities have proliferated nationwide, increasing opportunities to explore diverse locations for exercise. The tension and focus felt while ascending a wall, along with the immense satisfaction upon reaching the summit, offer a unique appeal rarely found in other sports.
Engaging in these varied sports builds my physical strength, significantly enhancing not only my daily life but also my work efficiency. The vitality and focus gained through exercise have become a major driving force in my life.
Moving forward, I aim to maintain a healthy lifestyle alongside exercise, while also challenging myself with new sports. My goal is to consistently continue this enjoyable routine that enriches my daily life.
Reason for Joining the Company and Aspirations
“I will take one step at a time toward my goal of becoming the overall manager of construction office operations.”
After graduating from university, I took a one-year gap year. It wasn’t just a break; it was time dedicated to clarifying my career path. Before diving into full-fledged job hunting, I decided to gain practical experience in the construction field. This led me to start part-time work on-site at a specialized interior design firm.
This company handled interior construction for diverse architectural projects, including residential buildings, commercial facilities, and civil engineering sites. Stepping directly onto the job site, I realized firsthand that a clear gap existed between the major knowledge I learned at my desk and the actual work. The design required for assignments and the design demanded on the actual site differed completely, from the approach to the application methods. To bridge this gap, I constantly experimented on myself, sometimes failing, but persistently continued learning. Through this process of trial and error, I cultivated the ability to organically connect theory and practice.
Based on this experience, I decided to apply to take on a new challenge under the name of Daemyung Group. In particular, Daemyung Group’s management philosophy of ‘3C’—Customer, Confidence, Challenge—aligns perfectly with the values I aspire to. I deeply resonate with this philosophy focused on enhancing the value of customers’ lives, and I am convinced that I too wish to grow as a member of this organization.
Moving forward, I aim to become an employee in the construction and facilities sector who possesses a meticulous perspective and attitude, considering not only the responsible companies but also the customers’ standpoint. I will take responsibility for my tasks, establish myself as a reliable colleague, and become an employee others want to work with. Ultimately, I will grow into an administrative manager capable of overseeing the overall flow and operations of the site.
I am now ready. Building on the skills and passion honed through practical experience, I wish to shape the future together with your company.
