This blog post explores strategies for effectively conveying your vision as a future content creator in a Multimedia Engineering academic plan, balancing technical skills with creative sensibilities.
Reasons for Choosing This Major
During my school days, online games were all the rage. That’s when I first encountered online gaming, following a friend’s lead. The characters depicted with stunning graphics were a whole new world, but what truly amazed me was how the game itself formed a miniature universe. Traveling through this virtual world via diverse characters and quests felt nothing short of wondrous. This experience sparked my own desire to create the worlds I dreamed of.
As I explored game development and potential majors, I discovered your university’s Multimedia Department. I understand multimedia requires significant artistic sensibility. Your university is renowned for its outstanding curriculum blending engineering with the arts. This led me to believe your environment would foster a better harmony between technology and creativity than other schools.
The 21st century is the era of culture. Hallyu is spreading globally, and Korea’s online games are also being exported overseas. In this era where cultural power becomes national strength, I aspire to become an outstanding talent who contributes to this field. I believe that with your university’s curriculum, which harmonizes engineering and art, and its excellent faculty, I can grow into such a talent.
Academic Plan and Goals
I currently possess only a vague desire to create, lacking practical skills. Therefore, I believe understanding fundamental principles is paramount. I will focus on grasping the principles of vast and diverse computer systems. Alongside this, I will diligently study languages to achieve fluency, keeping pace with globalization.
Furthermore, I recognize that simply possessing technical skills isn’t enough to create the games I aspire to make. Therefore, I intend to devote significant attention to the arts. Since my sister is currently attending an art college, I believe learning fundamental artistic theory and practical skills with her guidance will be immensely beneficial. I also plan to engage in cultural activities and read extensively, as I believe fresh ideas emerge from rich reading and diverse experiences.
To gain broad experience, I will also actively participate in club activities. I consider club activities one of the great benefits of university life. Therefore, through club activities, I want to broaden my interpersonal relationships, mingle with many people, and create opportunities to exchange opinions on various topics.
Post-Graduation Plans
If I prepare diligently, I expect to be employed at a game company after graduation. Initially, I likely won’t participate in direct production work. However, I will steadily prepare for my future dreams. I will plan and prepare my own concepts and scenarios, building my portfolio. Additionally, outside of work, I plan to attend computer academies to learn computer-related skills I haven’t yet acquired, further developing myself. I understand that those who aspire to develop must always maintain an alert mind. Therefore, I aim to be someone who doesn’t settle for only the tasks assigned to me, but looks further ahead and prepares in advance. I know that collaborations with other countries overseas are increasing these days, even in fields like film, music, and games. I believe that by steadily studying languages and preparing myself, I can become an excellent talent as a game developer.
Self-Introduction (Life Philosophy, Values)
I try everything first. As you can see from my life motto, “If you don’t move, you gain nothing,” one of the things I value most is a spirit of challenge. When I was young, I was quite a timid child. I often hesitated, afraid of making mistakes, and only acted when I felt certain I could succeed without error. To that, my father asked me, “If you think that way, what can you do right now?” His words were quite a shock to me. So, despite worrying beforehand that I couldn’t join a band because I was clumsy at playing music, I decided to start band club activities. Once I actually started, I realized that everyone is clumsy at first, and within that, anyone can learn and tackle things one step at a time.
Since then, I’ve held the belief that you can’t know anything without first trying, and I’ve become proactive in everything I do. Since making a spirit of challenge my creed, I’ve achieved many things. Unlike before, thanks to this spirit of challenge, I’ve been able to have diverse experiences, and I consider this a great strength of mine.
