Throughout my growth, one mentor has had a profound and lasting influence on me. This mentor was my teacher in my third year of middle school. We still keep in touch, and whenever I face a crossroads in my choices, they consistently offer guidance and give me courage. This teacher sparked my interest in fields like biomedical engineering and taught me the diverse facets of science through discussion.
The teacher emphasized the need to approach scientific problems with a broad perspective and meticulously guided me on aspects I hadn’t considered. It was this teacher’s advice that led me to choose your university’s Department of Biomedical Engineering. The experiments I conducted with the teacher were immensely enjoyable, and I often stayed up all night eagerly awaiting the results. I wish to carry forward that pure passion and, upon enrolling at your university, conduct experiments in the laboratory alongside your distinguished professors.
Academic Plan and Goals
While life sciences are a fascinating field exploring and discovering the principles of life, I also recognize it as a physically demanding discipline requiring constant time spent at the lab bench. Therefore, to maintain the stamina needed to persistently conduct experiments, I will prioritize building my physical strength by swimming three times a week. If I am accepted into your university’s experimental laboratory, I will thoroughly review previously published research findings. Considering various factors, I will plan and execute the best possible experiments. Even if results differ from expectations, I will not be discouraged. Instead, I will maintain an open mind, allowing myself the flexibility to infer various scenarios that may contradict my initial hypothesis. I plan to study my major diligently, driven by a reverence for life and a curiosity to uncover its mysteries. The unexplored frontiers of life science are endless, and countless secrets of life remain undiscovered. I dream of venturing step by step into uncharted territories where no one has gone before, unraveling the unsolved riddles of life.
Post-Graduation Plans
Life science is a fascinating research field where one contemplates various biological phenomena, formulates hypotheses, and discovers new principles through verification. Therefore, I aspire to become a life scientist in the future. I wish to contribute to the advancement of science and humanity through numerous research outcomes. Furthermore, if given the opportunity, I would like to contribute to building research infrastructure, including science education, in our country.
Specifically, I wish to pursue research that integrates engineering with ethical principles, such as biomedical engineering or developing systems for people with disabilities. I aspire to become a true life scientist who develops systems that harmonize naturally with people and assist them, rather than forcing technology into our lives.
Self-Introduction (Life Philosophy, Values)
Not long ago, I started a company called ○○ at a startup incubator hosted by ○○. During the opening ceremony, instead of floral wreaths, I received rice. I made this decision because, given the mood on the opening day, I felt that displaying wreaths held no real meaning. Then, over the two days following the opening, I personally rented a porter truck and delivered the rice I received, supporting those in need with my own hands.
While donating to social welfare organizations would have sufficed, I felt the best way to repay those who trusted and supported me was to personally deliver the rice, even if it meant exerting effort and sweating. I wanted to see it with my own eyes and deliver it with my own hands. Through this experience, I came to believe that a sense of community, starting from the smallest units within society, should be cultivated.
I believe the most essential and universally necessary value for navigating 21st-century society is the human ideal characterized by broad and deep humanity. The whole and the individual, the nation and its people, society and the person are one organic community. Therefore, living with a genuine sense of social solidarity and a shared sense of destiny is crucial. I wish to further cultivate the humanism I fundamentally possess and contribute it back to society for the greater good.
