An old saying goes, ‘The crooked tree guards the ancestral mountain.’ Among my ○th class peers, there are many who far surpass me in scholarship, character, and even financial standing. Yet, I stand in this honored position not because I am the most outstanding. Rather, I am well aware that I am the most inadequate. However, one thing I can confidently say is that I am prepared to pour my heart into our alumni association more than anyone else and dedicate more time to it. Just as a crooked tree silently guards the ancestral mountain, I too will steadfastly uphold the traditions and honor of our ○○ Elementary School.
Moving forward, in advancing all matters of the alumni association, I will proceed cautiously, always seeking the advice of our seniors first, rather than making decisions alone. And should I, in fulfilling my duties as president, ever stray onto the wrong path due to arrogance or self-righteousness, I earnestly ask that you call me out without hesitation, rebuke me, and guide me back onto the right path.
Despite the fact that many of my classmates possess far greater abilities than I, I am deeply grateful to all my fellow graduates who recommended this inadequate person. Despite the sweltering heat of the dog days, I extend my deepest respect and gratitude to all alumni who traveled long distances and made the effort to attend this event. I feel immense honor at being elected as the ○th Alumni Association President once again, following the ○th term, and I keenly feel the greater responsibility now placed upon my shoulders.
It feels like only yesterday that I first assumed the role of the ○th Alumni Association President, yet two years have already passed. Back then, my foremost concern was whether I could truly hear every voice of our alumni. It was the day my knees trembled for the first time under the weight of that immense responsibility. Fortunately, thanks to the support of the ○ University executive board members, my first year in office flew by in the blink of an eye.
Over the past year, I devoted all my energy to organizing various events to foster unity and harmony within our alumni association. We strived to spend as much time as possible with our alumni through sports festivals, unity gatherings, group retreats, and more. Fortunately, thanks to the active participation and support of many, I was able to complete my term successfully. Yet, I also worried that my own ambitions might have placed undue burdens on others. Therefore, this year, I plan to scale back large-scale events and focus more intently on attentively caring for our alumni’s personal milestones.
As time passes, ten or twenty years go by, and I realize that few meaningful things remain around us. Among them, the most precious are our ○○ Elementary School alumni. You, who shared the irreplaceable memories of childhood, are my past, my present, and my future. Because this connection is so precious, I intend to attentively care for the major and minor events and life milestones in your families, within the scope of what is possible. If last year was about taking a broad look at the alumni association, this year I will focus on the finer details, striving to become ‘true friends like family’.
I am not afraid, for I believe many of you will continue to lend your unwavering support this year as well. Until the history of our ○○ Elementary School continues beyond 100 years, I will dedicate even greater passion and devotion to the alumni association.

Together with the executive officers, I will devote all my energy during my term to creating opportunities for broader interaction among alumni. This will enable those who have not yet participated or who feel marginalized to join us more actively. What is an alumnus? In the challenging journey of life, are we not a ray of light for each other and a sanctuary where hearts can rest? We will strive to ensure more alumni can find this warm sanctuary.
Furthermore, through continuous interest and support for our alma mater, we will do our utmost to ensure its reputation and standing are steadily maintained and developed. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has shown me unwavering alumni affection and warm friendship, offering support and encouragement despite my many shortcomings. It is through this trust and encouragement that I have been entrusted with the weighty responsibility of serving as President of the General Alumni Association today. While I have done my utmost as the class president of the ○ class, I keenly feel my capabilities remain insufficient. Yet, standing here now, I feel a firm resolve and sense of mission to become a ‘single grain of wheat’ dedicated to the development of the General Alumni Association, starting with myself. Moving forward, even before being the General Alumni Association President, I will do my utmost with an unwavering heart as a member and as an alumnus.
Above all, if you all unite and support me with the same unwavering and steadfast alumni spirit as you have shown until now, I will fulfill the mission and responsibilities entrusted to me and never neglect the position you have placed in my hands. I will lead by example, demonstrating through actions, not just words.
Now is the time for our Alumni Association to take another leap forward. To bear a single, fresh fruit, I believe we all need the mature attitude and courage to sacrifice ourselves, along with bold decision-making. By actively participating in all aspects of organizational operations and cultivating a broad vision and keen insight, I will ensure we do not dishonor the brilliant traditions built by our predecessors. Esteemed alumni, I must confess that I am frankly apprehensive about assuming such a weighty position, given my many shortcomings. However, I firmly believe that the growth of our alumni association cannot be achieved by the efforts of just one president or a few officers alone. It can only truly flourish and develop with the steadfast guidance of our seniors and the vigorous support of our peers and juniors. If you support me, I promise to dedicate all my capabilities and passion to grow the alumni association further, passing on a proud tradition to our juniors. Our ○○ Elementary School is a true prestigious institution, having surpassed half a century since its founding and produced over five thousand alumni to date. Although student numbers have decreased due to rural population decline, it remains a prominent school, operating diverse specialized programs. As I take office as Alumni Association President today, I will pursue the following three plans to continue developing the association and revitalizing our alma mater.
First, revitalizing the alumni association. For graduating classes that have not yet formed their own alumni groups, we will encourage their establishment and provide all necessary support. This will enable more graduating classes to participate in next year’s alumni sports festival.
Second, continuing our support initiatives for our alma mater. To increase enrollment, we need differentiated educational programs. To realize this, I ask for your active cooperation. I firmly believe that only our united strength can revitalize our alma mater.
Third, strengthening harmony and solidarity. Our 5,500 alumni are all one family who nurtured childhood dreams within the walls of ○○. Though we sometimes faced difficulties, I earnestly hope we become a community embracing each other with broad-mindedness and warm affection. I will dedicate all my efforts to building an alumni association that achieves greater harmony and unity.

Seasonal Greetings from the Alumni Association President

Respected and beloved 40,000+ alumni of ○○ nationwide, it is a pleasure to see you.
Today, I am ○○○, who has assumed the role of President of the ○○ General Alumni Association in accordance with the wishes of our alumni. I deeply thank all alumni who have graced this General Assembly with your presence on this first Sunday of October, despite your busy schedules.
Did you perhaps raise the national flag before leaving this morning? Today is Gaecheonjeol, a national holiday commemorating the founding of our nation by Dangun, the progenitor of our people. Here, ‘Gaecheon’ signifies not only the founding day of Dangun Joseon, but also the day Hwanung descended from heaven to the sacred tree at the foot of Mount Taebaek, receiving the will of heaven, and began to realize the great ideals of Hongik Ingan (benefiting all humanity) and Iwa Segye (a world of harmony). On such a meaningful day, it is an even greater honor to be here with you, my respected and beloved fellow alumni.
This year is particularly significant as it marks the 80th anniversary of ○○’s founding. While it is a great personal honor for someone like me, who is lacking in many ways, to have been entrusted with the important role of the 30th President of the Alumni Association, I also feel a heavy sense of responsibility. As you all know, the purpose of our alumni association is twofold. First, to strengthen the bonds of friendship among alumni. Second, to wholeheartedly support the development of our alma mater.
Our alma mater is currently undergoing significant changes for its second leap forward. Two years ago, it became the only autonomous private high school in Gyeongbuk Province. Next year, all grades 10, 11, and 12 will be filled with students admitted to the autonomous high school system. The following year, we will see the first graduates under this autonomous system, showcasing the fruits of this transformation. Furthermore, our General Alumni Association is steadily advancing the historic task of establishing a 10 billion won scholarship fund, centered around the ○○ Scholarship Foundation launched two years ago.
At this crucial juncture, my role as President of the General Alumni Association is already clear. First, to further strengthen fellowship among alumni, I will enhance the ○○ Alumni Newsletter, a platform for dialogue and communication, transforming it into the central square of our alumni community. Second, alongside the newsletter, I will substantively develop the ‘President’s Cup Class Football Tournament,’ another major pillar of fellowship and communication, ensuring the proud tradition of ○○ continues into the future.
These two tasks are fundamental to our alumni association, like its very roots, and are nothing new. However, their realization absolutely requires the voluntary and active participation of all alumni. We must set as our shared goal the remarkable results and great achievements that become possible only when all 40,000 alumni participate together, not thinking “it’s okay if just one person like me is absent.”
I believe this moment is the most critical juncture in the development of both our alma mater and our alumni association. An alumni association without a splendid and proud alma mater, and an alma mater without a proud alumni association, inevitably lose half their meaning. Therefore, let us all gather with one heart and one mind to strengthen the bonds among alumni and together build a splendid alma mater and a proud alumni association.

Today, I am ○○○, a graduate of the 14th class, who has been entrusted with the important role of the 20th President of the Alumni Association.
Our ○○ Elementary School Alumni Association has developed through the voluntary participation and dedication of each and every alumnus, who are all its owners. Standing upon the solid foundation laid by the sweat, effort, and collective spirit of all seniors and juniors who came before me, I will devote my utmost energy to further strengthening our association’s base and advancing it to new heights. I will do my utmost to carry forward the vision and achievements established by previous presidents, invigorate alumni activities, and foster more active exchanges among members. I will always serve with sincerity to ensure I do not bring dishonor to our alumni seniors and juniors.
As the Alumni Association approaches its 20th year, we have walked together toward our shared goals of harmony, fellowship, and the advancement of our alma mater. It is thanks to the interest and cooperation of many that we have been able to uphold our fine traditions and achieve continuous growth. Our CEO Alumni Association, founded to honor ○○ University’s founding principles and traditions while contributing to the school’s development and mutual exchange among members as CEOs, has now accumulated 14 years of history.
Standing here today, I deeply reflect on how I will fulfill the immense responsibility that comes with the honor of serving as President, and how I can contribute to the unity, harmony, development, and growth among our alumni. Seeing the passionate commitment of our Advisory Board members and fellow alumni directors who joined us here today despite their busy schedules, I am reminded once again of the strength and resilience of our CEO Alumni Association.
This very spirit, I believe, is the driving force behind the Alumni Association’s steady progress despite its short history and challenging social conditions. It is the fruit of the dedicated efforts of the university administration and past presidents, and I am particularly grateful for the passion and devotion of our former President ○○○, who demonstrated outstanding leadership and capability.
Fellow alumni! That we gather here today is thanks to the precious bond of the ○○ University CEO Program Alumni Association. We are people sharing the common roots of ○○ University.
