From Parts to Finished Vehicles: Passion Proven Through Quality
I have been responsible for quality control at an automotive parts factory. This role, which involves inspecting whether products are manufactured correctly according to design drawings, required an understanding of machinery and meticulous observation skills. Through the daily process of comparing drawings with actual products and identifying even the slightest differences, I first realized I had an interest in the field of ‘machinery’. This interest naturally led me to want to learn more. From then on, I began studying automotive parts management by seeking out specialized books and researching materials.
Currently, I am striving to build more systematic and in-depth knowledge in the Mechanical Engineering Department. I believe that for a finished product like an automobile to be produced, each individual part must fulfill its role, and its level of perfection determines the overall quality. Driven by this conviction, I dedicated my full effort to product inspection, meticulously managing the parts I verified to prevent defects. Through the process of personally inspecting countless products, I broadened my understanding of part structures and operating principles, and this experience significantly enhanced my professional capabilities.
Looking back, I believe this entire journey was possible because of my ambition to become the best in my field. Building on that resolve and passion, I will continue to learn and grow diligently, and I will approach your company’s work with the same mindset. I will spare no effort to achieve perfect products and the highest quality.
Muscle built through factory work
During high school, while working part-time jobs, I vaguely nurtured a dream of America. I thought about learning English, saving money, and someday living there. Then, I heard from an acquaintance about an opportunity to work at a factory branch in Los Angeles, USA. I didn’t hesitate. I booked a flight ticket immediately, said goodbye to my parents, and headed to America filled with excitement and anticipation.
The America I first stepped into was far more challenging than I had imagined. The completely different eating habits meant the food didn’t agree with me, and I often felt sick as a result. The language barrier was an even greater wall. Communication was difficult because we couldn’t understand each other, and there was nowhere to turn for help. Moreover, as an Asian with a different body type than Westerners, keeping up with their strong stamina was exhausting. Frequent illnesses meant I often missed work, leading to a vicious cycle of decreasing income. Both my body and mind grew weary.
Then one day, I happened to meet a Korean exchange student. Conversing in my mother tongue was comforting in itself, and through him, I gradually relearned English and began to steady my mind. Thanks to that friend, I endured the grueling factory life, and even now, we remain precious friends who exchange letters.
Factory work was a continuous grind of hard, grueling labor, but what I learned there was by no means insignificant. Above all, I mastered English perfectly, and even more valuable than that was developing an invisible muscle: the tenacity to never give up, no matter how hard it got. That experience, built with sweat and tears in a factory in LA, still serves as a solid foundation for my life today.
Completed Quality Management System Implementation and HR-Related Training
To enhance expertise and understanding in establishing quality management systems, quality systems, and quality management personnel affairs, I completed a total of 80 hours of training in the certification auditor program and passed the KAR written exam. Additionally, I hold a Quality Management Engineer certification and have built a deep understanding of both the field and systems through 10 years of practical experience. Furthermore, to strengthen my capabilities in statistics and computer systems, I consistently participate in system-related seminars to learn the latest technologies and management techniques.
My first position was at EDIMS Co., Ltd., where I was responsible for establishing the Quality Management System, managing defect history through computer systems, overseeing quality improvement management, and handling the integrated linkage management of quality information. During this time, I systematically learned how to design and build quality systems and efficiently operate and manage them. I was later promoted to a managerial role and conducted internal training on all aspects of quality information. Subsequently, I moved to Taeyang Technology Co., Ltd., where I worked as a management executive building and managing quality-related systems. Alongside maintaining and managing the quality system, I directly performed evaluation and verification procedures. This allowed me to meticulously analyze and inspect how the system was utilized in actual field operations, building practical work capabilities that encompass both field operations and overall management.
Based on this education, qualifications, and field experience, I am a prepared professional capable of effectively establishing, operating, and improving quality management systems. I possess a systematic approach and execution capabilities that go beyond the role of a simple manager, enabling me to tangibly enhance an organization’s quality competitiveness.
For the past eight years, I have exclusively gained experience working on production lines
Immediately after graduating high school, I began working at a paper production factory—actually the same place where I had worked part-time during middle school. At that time, I took on a full-time line supervisor role and worked there for two years. However, due to the company’s financial difficulties, I had no choice but to resign. After that, I worked at construction sites for a while to make ends meet. Thanks to my quick adaptability, I worked diligently and silently even on manual labor sites. An older gentleman who noticed my diligence recommended a factory he knew. That was the semiconductor factory, a subsidiary of the original factory, where I have worked ever since.
At the semiconductor factory, I was assigned to production line duties, moving between departments and gaining experience in various tasks. Over six years of service, I developed a comprehensive understanding of how the entire production line system operates and earned recognition for my skilled workmanship. Although I have no formal training in machine repair, I can resolve simple mechanical faults independently. My experience handling diverse machinery at other factories also allows me to perform tasks like wire assembly or machine assembly without difficulty.
I am a talent ready for immediate deployment on the production floor, committed to seeing assigned tasks through to completion. Given the opportunity, I will undoubtedly meet expectations based on my accumulated experience and skills.
A 6-Year Record of Machine Development and Manufacturing
For the past six years, I have worked at a company responsible for the development and manufacturing of machinery. My company researches and manufactures measuring instruments capable of more precise and in-depth measurements than existing tools for developing experimental equipment. Our goal was to accurately measure special terrains or depths that existing measuring instruments couldn’t handle. To achieve this, we continuously collected diverse data and analyzed existing surveying equipment. Driven by the desire to create better products, we relentlessly upgraded our technology and dedicated ourselves to development.
During this process, I was responsible for interpreting complex design drawings and linking them to the field of ‘surveying’ to bring them to life. I was responsible for the entire process: conducting various experiments, designing circuits, purchasing sample parts, producing prototypes, and performing inspections and re-inspections. After being promoted to team leader, I gained sales skills by handling communication with key buyers and accumulated extensive experience coordinating discussions and joint projects with development partners. This naturally led to taking on the role of preparing and leading team meetings, where I acquired the know-how to smoothly facilitate collaboration.
This experience, spanning machine development and manufacturing, sales, and collaboration coordination, has cultivated a broad perspective and practical problem-solving skills within me. Moving forward, I wish to undertake more creative and challenging projects at your company, leveraging this experience and know-how. If given the opportunity, I will prove my capabilities through results.
Finding Myself in Fashion
has been involved in retail part-time work and production management at local factories in China. When people list life’s three essentials, they often cite ‘clothing, food, and shelter’. When explaining how vital ‘clothing’ is, I frequently say this: What one wears reveals much about them. Clothing is not merely a tool to cover the body; I believe it’s a medium that expresses personality, attitude, and even one’s way of life. Therefore, my interest in the apparel industry was perhaps a natural progression.
During my university years, I worked part-time in wholesale and retail at the Dongdaemun clothing market for ○ years. While I did have a fondness for clothes, the greater motivation was a desire to dive into the fierce front lines of livelihood sooner. However, that experience transcended simple part-time work; it became the catalyst that set foot in the world of the apparel business. Amidst the vibrant energy and fierce competition of the field, my desire to play a role within this industry grew steadily. I poured my passion into learning patterns and design separately, wanting to understand the fundamentals of clothing more deeply. While I still can’t perfectly execute design and patterns professionally, acquiring basic knowledge and sensibility allowed me to understand the structure and characteristics of clothes much better. Details I had previously overlooked began to catch my eye, and I believe this became one of my unique competitive advantages.
After graduation, I joined ○○ Company, which operates OEM factories in the Philippines and China, working in each location for ○ years each, totaling ○ years. My first overseas assignment was in the Philippines, where I handled production management locally. As it was my first job and my first overseas assignment, it presented many challenges. With the help of senior colleagues on the floor, I adapted relatively quickly to grasping the overall production process. However, aspects like the climate and culture, which didn’t quite suit my constitution, took a bit more time to adjust to. Yet, thanks to my natural affinity for building relationships, I gradually formed bonds with the local staff. I also accumulated my own know-how in production management, which gave me confidence in handling overseas assignments.
During this time, an opportunity arose within the company to support production management operations in China. My curiosity about the new environment and work drove me to apply without hesitation. China was already a massive market attracting global attention, a country with immense business potential. Particularly, with a high concentration of factories in the apparel industry, I could experience work within a more organized and systematic framework than in the Philippines. During this period, I felt my career and practical skills solidify significantly, and my passion for work accelerated at an even faster pace.
Looking back, my career path—from part-time work at the wholesale market to overseas field management experience—has all been connected by the common thread of ‘clothing’. Beyond simply liking it, I believe the understanding and experience gained by seeing, learning, and confronting challenges directly on the field have shaped who I am today. I want to continue learning more deeply and growing more broadly along this path.
My First Job: Quality Control for Automotive Parts
After graduating from university, my first workplace was a factory producing automotive parts. My initial role there was managing part quality. This job required meticulous inspection to ensure parts were manufactured precisely according to design drawings, demanding both an understanding of machinery and meticulous attention to detail. Initially, I viewed it simply as ‘my first job after employment,’ but as I worked, I discovered a newfound interest in machinery within myself. I realized I felt great motivation not just from spending time earning money, but from engaging in ‘productive work’ where I could apply my knowledge and skills to create something tangible.
For a finished product like an automobile to be created, countless parts must perform their roles precisely. I understood this better than anyone, and poured my passion into product inspection. I did my utmost to ensure no defects occurred in the parts passing through my hands. Through the process of personally inspecting, seeing, and touching countless products, my understanding of them deepened steadily. This diligence didn’t stem from mere responsibility; I believe it was possible because I had the ambition and goal to become the best in my field.
Looking back, that experience meant far more than just my first job. Through quality control work, which demanded both meticulousness and expertise, I learned ‘how to approach work’ and ‘how to cultivate professionalism’. Thanks to that, I developed the habit of thoroughly adhering to fundamentals and striving to enhance the quality of deliverables, no matter what task I was assigned. Even now, I consider that experience a valuable asset that solidified my professional foundation.
Equipment Team Educational Materials Production Experience
While working in the Equipment Team, I was responsible for producing various educational materials. This department operated a ‘custom design system’ that didn’t just mass-produce standardized equipment but specially manufactured items tailored to the specific requirements requested by schools and research facilities worldwide. Therefore, seamless communication with the client was central to the job. Only by accurately understanding what the customer wanted could we deliver designs that met their expectations. To achieve this, I listened meticulously to customer requirements and made every effort to deeply understand their intentions. Simultaneously, the ability to persuade others was essential. Occasionally, a client’s envisioned idea proved difficult to implement realistically. In such cases, I had to explain logically and clearly why feasibility was low. Through this experience, I gained a profound understanding of the importance of explaining things at the customer’s level and possessing the ability to respond appropriately to different situations.
Later, I was assigned to the overseas team and continued design work for international clients. My achievements and experience were recognized, leading to a role managing the overseas team. I worked in Malaysia the first year and India the next, overseeing local projects. The most critical focus during my overseas assignments was building relationships with local workers. Building mutual understanding and trust in an environment with different cultures, languages, and work styles was challenging. However, through consistent communication and maintaining a respectful attitude, I laid the foundation for cooperation. This enabled smooth project execution and significant personal growth. These experiences became invaluable assets, teaching me not only technical skills but also the critical importance of the power of relationships in connecting people within an international environment.
The Path to Becoming an SMT Expert Through Hands-On Experience
I gained my experience and expertise by learning on the job at a foreign-owned mobile phone manufacturer. This company was my first step after graduation, where I systematically developed comprehensive management skills in the SMT field—from writing production equipment programs to equipment maintenance and repair. Through frequent SMD line expansions, equipment relocations due to factory moves, and hands-on setup work, I gained firsthand knowledge of the essential elements required from initial equipment startup to stabilization, as well as the types of problems that frequently arise.
Rather than learning solely from theory at a desk, I actively sought solutions on-site when equipment failures or problems occurred. Whenever I encountered something unfamiliar, I consulted seniors, juniors, and equipment agents, utilizing every possible method to broaden my professional knowledge. As a result, I can quickly grasp the operating principles of any SMD equipment, enabling me to seamlessly handle maintenance, as well as write and operate linked programs. I have also consistently participated in equipment improvement activities and various projects, delivering tangible results.
Furthermore, I have responsibly handled equipment maintenance, management, spare parts management, resolving diverse quality issues arising during processes, and duties as a senior employee. I have always approached my assigned roles with passion, striving to achieve better outcomes. This experience and attitude will remain my greatest competitive advantage moving forward.
7 Years of Production Engineering Field Experience
I have learned and experienced a great deal during my 7 years working in the production engineering field. Although I acquired various skills and certifications in school before being deployed to the field, the reality was that there was far more I didn’t know than what I did. The field was a world entirely different from textbook knowledge, and in most situations, I had to apply and solve problems using just a small clue. Especially as diverse equipment was constantly introduced and upgraded, I needed to continuously learn new technologies and adapt. In this environment, my innate desire to constantly learn became a major strength. Thanks to this, I gained extensive experience, handling virtually every type of equipment in the technical field.
I also learned important lessons about attitude from my seniors. The phrase “You must be humble in front of machinery” particularly sticks with me. It meant that arrogance, thinking you know everything about a machine, inevitably leads to accidents or shutdowns. Hearing this, I realized that ‘assuming you don’t know what you know and meticulously checking’ is the first step in preventing safety incidents. Since then, I have prioritized thoroughness above all else in any task, establishing a safe and reliable working method.
The duties I’ve handled over the years have been extremely diverse, including material shipping and inspection, equipment process management, development equipment fabrication, order-based equipment fabrication, analysis, shipping, field support, equipment maintenance, and upgrade management. Gaining extensive experience in equipment fabrication and repair significantly enhanced my practical skills, while the problem-solving process honed my quick judgment and adaptability. These experiences have shaped me into a field-proven, hands-on technician. Moving forward, I will maintain a mindset of continuous learning and growth within the evolving technological landscape, striving relentlessly to achieve even better results.
