Growth Process

As a child, I harbored a vague fascination with wearing glasses. Since everyone in my family had good eyesight and no one wore glasses, they felt like unfamiliar yet special objects to me. After starting elementary school, I began noticing that friends who wore glasses seemed particularly good at studying. On TV, too, capable people invariably wore glasses, and that image became deeply ingrained in my mind. Looking back now, it was just a simple image, but back then, I firmly believed in the equation ‘glasses = intelligence’.
Perhaps because that thought grew stronger. I deliberately did reckless things like reading books with the lights off or watching TV from extremely close up to force myself to need glasses. It was a foolish thing to do in my young mind, but I was sincere back then. My mother, watching my behavior, grew worried and eventually took me to an optician. She bought me a pair of toy-like glasses with no prescription. The joy I felt the day I first received those glasses is still vivid. I was so excited I couldn’t sleep at night, thinking about showing them off to my friends at school.
But once I actually started wearing glasses, the inconveniences were numerous. They kept slipping down, requiring constant readjustment. In summer, sweat would pool around the frames, making them uncomfortable. Come winter, they’d fog up every time I went indoors, blurring my vision, and wiping them down became a daily chore. Eventually, about a year later, I stopped wearing them altogether.
This experience deeply taught me the value of my eyesight as a child. What began as a playful act now makes me feel ashamed when I reflect on how I neglected my eye health. Now, I cherish my eyes more than anyone and strive to maintain healthy vision. At the time, it stemmed from simple curiosity and admiration, but thinking about it now, that experience might have made me more cautious and responsible.

A Special Experience from School Days: Volunteering in Cambodia

During my school days majoring in Optometry, I gained the opportunity to go on a month-long volunteer trip to Cambodia under the guidance of my professor. The professor, who had been visiting Cambodia annually for volunteer work, offered us students the chance to join that year. Facing Cambodia, a land I’d only seen on TV, I was quite shocked to find the reality far more dire than I’d imagined. Equipped with ophthalmic devices borrowed through corporate sponsorship, we began examining the eye health of local Cambodians.
Word of our volunteer work spread, and far more residents came than we anticipated. We worked nonstop, day after day, without a moment to catch our breath. Among them, one child stands out in my memory. The difference in vision between his right and left eyes was so significant that if left untreated, both eyes would inevitably deteriorate. My heart ached, and I immediately contacted my family back in Korea, asking them to send glasses tailored to his vision. A few days later, when we received the glasses and fitted them for the child, seeing the brightened look in their eyes and their radiant smile instantly moved me deeply.
During the volunteer period, we actively participated not only in simple eye examinations but also in repairing old houses and rebuilding school facilities. Though the grueling work continued for 3-4 days straight under the blazing sun, during that time I could personally feel the meaning behind the sweat, which actually made me feel a greater sense of fulfillment. On the other hand, observing the lives of the people there up close made me realize anew just how grateful I was for the environment I lived in, and it made me reflect on my own tendency to complain easily about trivial matters.
That month in Cambodia remains an unforgettable and precious time in my life. Above all, I felt immense pride knowing that the knowledge I had acquired could provide tangible help to others. This experience profoundly influenced my career path and life values. Through it, I resolved to further develop my capabilities and contribute to safeguarding the eye health of more people in the future. Even now, recalling those moments warms my heart and reminds me anew of the meaning of sharing.

Regarding Strengths and Weaknesses

My greatest strength is my habit of meticulous planning. I believe that 24 hours a day is a resource equally given to everyone, and how efficiently we use it determines our quality of life and success. This conviction naturally led me to develop the habit of organizing and planning my tasks before starting each day. I don’t stop at just making plans; I also believe execution is crucial, so I create a daily checklist to monitor my progress. I meticulously review my tasks, checking the progress of those that won’t be completed in a single day. This process deepens my sense of responsibility toward my planned work. I set plans within achievable and realistic bounds, but if I fail to stick to them, I impose small penalties on myself to motivate plan execution. This daily habit has made me a more organized and self-directed person.
However, I do have a weakness: I tend to worry a lot. Before starting anything, I often first imagine potential failures and prepare countermeasures in advance. While this tendency allows me to be meticulous in preparation, it also acts as a factor that makes me step back when faced with new challenges. That’s why I’ve been consciously trying to cultivate positive thinking lately. I try to visualize not only the possibility of failure but also the outcome of success, pushing forward with greater boldness and confidence. Through this effort, I’ve developed the ability to plan and execute tasks more cautiously yet far more boldly than before, which has been immensely helpful in my actual work. Having learned to balance thorough preparation with decisive action, I confidently believe I am growing into someone who can be trusted with any task.
Moving forward, I will continue to grow steadily based on this harmony between planning and execution, prudence and boldness. I am confident this disposition will serve as a strong foundation for delivering stable yet challenging results in any organization.

Career Experience (or experience demonstrating work capabilities)

I gained diverse practical experience while working at ○○ Eye Hospital. At the hospital, I primarily handled patients’ vision tests and eye disease screenings, always approaching my work with caution and responsibility to ensure precise and accurate examinations. Additionally, I participated in health education programs at local schools, conducting eye health screenings for students and providing guidance on proper eye care methods and appropriate eyeglass usage. This experience surprised me by revealing how many students wore glasses, and I felt deeply regretful seeing so many who could have lived without glasses had they received timely and appropriate vision care. These field experiences went beyond simple clinical assistance; they became a profound opportunity to personally grasp the importance of vision protection and deeply understand the significance of health education in spreading this awareness. Based on this hands-on experience, I am confident I can perform duties related to your company’s ophthalmic medical equipment more effectively. Drawing on the practical experience and perspective gained in the field, I can contribute to enhancing the accuracy and utilization of the equipment.

Motivation and Aspirations

As I apply to your company now, I cannot contain my excitement at taking the first step toward realizing my long-held goal: “to be responsible for the eye health of humanity.” Improving the quality of life for many people and safeguarding their happiness is profoundly rewarding for anyone. I deeply resonate with and am inspired by how your company’s management philosophy and vision align with these very values. Specifically, I feel that the direction your company pursues in ○○○○○ naturally meshes with my personal goals. This alignment gives me confidence that we can create greater synergy and achieve even more significant results together.
My strengths lie in thorough planning and preparation. Should I become part of your team, I will approach my responsibilities with accountability and strive diligently to grow into a capable professional. After joining, I will faithfully participate in all professional training and development programs offered internally, while also dedicating my personal time to continuous learning and gaining experience for self-improvement. This will prepare me to adapt to my duties and deliver results more quickly. Furthermore, I aim to contribute to creating synergy across the entire organization through smooth communication and collaboration with my teammates.
I hope my attitude and capabilities will be a small but meaningful force in your company’s development. Aligning with your vision of advancing as a global enterprise, I promise to be a talent who continuously learns, grows, and walks alongside you.
