Briefly praise yourself
I’m someone who radiates positive energy, making those around me feel uplifted.
What are your weaknesses?
My weakness lies in my tendency to like people and trust them easily. While I intellectually understand that not everyone shares my heart, I sometimes struggle to fully accept this emotionally and have been hurt as a result. My trust in people has occasionally led me into difficult situations. I’ve even been deceived by those who exploited that trust.
Despite this, I still believe most people possess good intentions. Withdrawing trust in others because of a few negative experiences feels like closing myself off. I am someone who grows through relationships with others and finds warmth within them. Therefore, moving forward, I aim to cultivate the wisdom and discernment to keep my distance from those who treat trust lightly, rather than trusting people unconditionally.
While everyone may have experiences that cause hurt and pain, I cannot allow such experiences to make me cynical. I still wish to maintain a positive view of people. I believe trust is the most important foundation of any relationship. I want to live as someone who can uphold that trust, and I also want to cultivate the discernment to better recognize those who know how to uphold it. I believe these experiences will make me stronger and more mature.
What competencies should outstanding talent possess in the financial sector?
To grow into outstanding talent in the financial sector, I believe it is paramount to possess the best service capabilities that can instill trust in customers, based on professional financial knowledge. Financial products exist in complex and diverse forms, so the ability to understand and explain them well plays a key role in meeting customer needs. Only by conveying information clearly and simply, even to customers with limited financial knowledge, can one be recognized as a true expert, which directly builds trust with clients.
I currently teach social studies subjects to students at a test prep academy. The most significant lesson I’ve gained from this experience is that knowing something and knowing how to communicate it effectively are entirely different skills. No matter how deep your knowledge is, if you cannot explain it in a way that is easy for others to understand at their level, that knowledge will inevitably hit a wall. From this perspective, I believe the experience of communicating and unpacking content with students in an educational setting can be a significant strength when providing information to customers in the financial industry.
Ultimately, I believe the competencies needed in the financial sector go beyond simple expertise; they are communication skills that can connect that knowledge to others’ understanding and trust. The ability to explain complex concepts simply and kindly, coupled with the attitude to genuinely approach customers from their perspective, will be crucial qualities driving growth as a financial professional.
Growth Process
Watching my parents care more for my disabled younger sibling, I often resented them as a child, feeling deprived of my parents’ love. I always treated my brother coldly, keeping my heart closed. Ironically, he adored me and followed me around. One day, I accidentally saw his diary. Inside, written in messy handwriting, were the words, “I want to be friends with my sister (brother).” The moment I saw that short sentence, tears gushed out from deep within my heart. Faced with my little sister’s sincerity, I reflected on myself and deeply regretted how badly I had behaved.
After that day, we gradually grew closer and are now inseparable. Spending time together, I personally felt how terrifying ‘prejudice’ can be and how high a wall it can build between people. When going out with my sibling, I often felt the stares of those around us burning hot. Beyond simple curiosity, those gazes held not only prejudice toward disability but also an uncomfortable view of ‘difference’ itself. Each time I faced such stares, I realized how easily our society judges others and marginalizes them simply for being different.
Looking back, I too may have been steeped in such prejudice before. However, after entering university, I gained the opportunity to participate in campaigns aimed at breaking down prejudice against the socially vulnerable and minorities through my involvement with an organization called ○○. Through efforts to change people’s perceptions in various ways—on the streets, online, and elsewhere—my own perspective gradually broadened, and my gaze toward others grew much warmer. Now, I strive to approach people sincerely, free from any preconceptions or stereotypes. I believe this is why I’ve been able to maintain good relationships with many people and build warm trust.
Ultimately, my journey of growth is a story of overcoming prejudice through the experience of genuinely understanding and loving another person, and a time of learning to accept differences as they are. I believe this experience will serve as a valuable foundation for building healthy relationships with diverse people and becoming someone who can positively impact society.
Reason for Applying
My first connection with KB Kookmin Bank was in third grade. That period also marked my first awareness of money. My parents opened a bank account in my name and deposited 50,000 won monthly as allowance. Because they deposited it into my account rather than giving cash directly, I frequently visited the bank. I became so familiar with the financial environment that I practically wore out the bank’s threshold. Back then, I’d withdraw money in 1,000-won increments, thinking I should only take out what I needed. I remember inconveniencing the bank staff multiple times each time. Yet, they never once showed any sign of annoyance. Instead, they naturally instilled financial awareness in me, a young child, and that impression remains vivid to this day.
Through these experiences, I personally felt KB Kookmin Bank’s service spirit of treating customers with genuine sincerity. I became convinced that this is the greatest driving force behind KB Kookmin Bank’s position as Korea’s top bank. I believe customer-centric thinking and the attitude of striving to do one’s best for customers transcend mere service; they are the very values KB Kookmin Bank pursues. I wish to take my first step in my financial career by working as an intern at KB Kookmin Bank, a bank built on these values, and gaining practical experience in the financial sector.
Its solid financial structure, vast customer database, and organizational capability to respond flexibly to change clearly demonstrate that KB Kookmin Bank is a bank preparing for the future, not resting on its laurels. I wish to join KB Kookmin Bank, which maintains its center amidst the rapidly changing financial environment, to concretize my dream as a financial professional and cultivate my expertise. I am applying with the earnest desire to personally experience the values and growth direction KB Kookmin Bank pursues and, furthermore, to become a part of that growth.
The Value of Passion Learned Between Success and Failure
My experience as a reporter for the school newspaper while majoring in Business Administration left me with more than just academic knowledge. As the economics section editor, I wrote various articles, including interviewing key business leaders and authoring columns analyzing the domestic economic situation. The economics section was particularly prominent among students, which naturally demanded a greater sense of responsibility. I learned firsthand that delivering accurate and reliable information to readers required getting out and doing the legwork. I willingly visited sites to gather more vivid coverage.
Among these experiences, the most memorable was interviewing Professor ○○, a prominent economist in our society. Scheduling an interview with the professor was difficult due to his extremely busy schedule, but I didn’t give up and traveled all the way to Busan myself. I waited near his hotel for two days, catching glimpses of his schedule. Finally, noticing my persistence and passion, the professor extended our promised five-minute meeting to a full half-hour, generously giving me his valuable time. This interview, filled with the professor’s profound insights, generated significant impact, appearing not only in the campus newspaper but also in a major daily. In that moment, I felt that all the effort and passion I poured in had not been in vain.
During my time as a newspaper reporter, the entire process—selecting topics, researching materials, conducting interviews, and writing articles—was always intense and hectic. Yet, rather than feeling like a burden, each day brought me joy and gratitude. Through the entire process—gaining new information, meeting diverse people, and writing based on facts I saw and heard firsthand—I learned the joy of true immersion. That’s how I realized that genuine fulfillment comes only when you approach any task with a sense of mission and give it your wholehearted dedication.
This experience made me redefine the word ‘passion’. I came to understand that true passion goes beyond mere liking something; it is the attitude of never giving up, taking responsibility for one’s role to the end, and finding happiness in that process. Moving forward, I will faithfully carry out my duties based on this passion, striving to be someone who immerses themselves and grows wherever they are. Even as an intern, I will do my utmost to maintain this attitude and add positive energy to the organization.
If I could go back in time, I would choose my high school years
If I could go back in time, I would choose my high school years. Back then, I lacked mental space. Chased by academics, I neglected extracurricular activities like volunteering under the excuse of ‘no time,’ and I think I let each day pass without even properly enjoying my hobbies. Looking back now, I realize I was so focused on ‘what I had to do’ that I missed out on many aspects of life.
However, this regretful experience became a valuable lesson for me. After entering university, I actively participated in various activities to make up for what I lacked back then. Through four years of volunteer tutoring at the ○○ Youth Center, I truly felt how rewarding helping others could be. It also gave me the mental space to care about others. Furthermore, through dance club activities, I discovered anew the joy of life that comes from moving my body and mind while enjoying a hobby.
Every time I experience moments like these, the same thought always comes to mind. “How wonderful it would have been to know this joy just a little sooner.” If I could return to my high school days, I would live with more ease and try a wider variety of experiences. Rather than confining myself within rigid boundaries like I did back then, I would choose a life of growth, opening my heart to embrace more.
And the same applies to my future life. Though I started a little late, I will live all the more diligently and deeply. Taking the regrets of the past as lessons, I will cherish the present and do my utmost to ensure that my current efforts do not become future regrets.
Proposal for Establishing Corporate Standing
If Kookmin Bank continues to prioritize customers as it does now, I believe a solid market position will naturally follow. By planning and developing financial products based on a customer-centric mindset, Kookmin Bank’s future will always be bright. To create products that faithfully reflect customer needs, meticulous analysis of diverse customer segments is paramount.
As a long-term customer who has been with Kookmin Bank for many years, I have often pondered, ‘It would be great if Kookmin Bank offered this kind of product.’ In truth, the answer isn’t far away. Almost everyone transacts with a bank, and ultimately, starting from the perspective that Kookmin Bank employees are also customers is the key. Developing innovative products by thinking from the customer’s perspective and putting genuine effort into them is not difficult at all. The crucial part is accurately understanding the customer’s heart and sincerely reaching out to it.
To establish itself as a bank that earns customer trust and provides tangible support, building an image rooted in authenticity is essential. To achieve this, it must continuously review the risks associated with electronic financial services in line with the times and establish systems to protect customers from various financial crimes. Security issues related to electronic transactions are particularly crucial for minimizing customer anxiety, and proactive responses to these can significantly enhance the bank’s credibility.
Furthermore, the thorough protection of customer information is a fundamental duty the bank must uphold. By being fully prepared for information leaks and proactively addressing potential risks, we must provide an environment where customers can transact with peace of mind. Through these efforts, Kookmin Bank can solidify its image as a bank that earns the public’s trust and stands as a steadfast financial partner always by their side.
Moving forward, as both a customer and someone who cares deeply for Kookmin Bank, I will continue to follow its progress and share in its challenges to support its greater development. Based on its customer-centric financial philosophy and its insight into the times, I sincerely hope Kookmin Bank grows into a financial institution cherished by all.
