A Journey of Passion and Challenge

“How I Travel Abroad for Free”
Since childhood, I’ve enjoyed challenging myself with new endeavors. The reason I came to love challenges was that the ‘results’ that followed were incredibly appealing. For me, challenges always yielded benefits. Success brought valuable outcomes, and even failure wasn’t the end—it became an opportunity to reflect on my life and recognize my shortcomings. Therefore, I believe there is no such thing as a ‘failure-free challenge,’ but there is also no such thing as a ‘futile challenge.’
With that mindset, I’ve participated in and challenged myself through various competitions since middle school. I’ve won awards multiple times in debate contests, essay competitions, and more. The confidence gained through these experiences became a significant asset in my life.
After becoming a university student, I turned my gaze to a broader world. One of the best aspects of college life was that the scope of achievements gained through challenges was much greater. Among these, the field I poured the most passion into was ‘overseas exploration’. It wasn’t just about traveling abroad; the fact that proving your passion could earn you full funding to go overseas felt like an enormous opportunity to me. It felt like something worth risking everything to pursue.
As a result, I was able to go on an exploration trip to Istanbul, Turkey, and gained the opportunity to conduct an internship at an industrial company in Japan. These two experiences became crucial turning points in my life, far beyond just ‘getting to go abroad for free’.
My experiences overseas completely changed my perspective. I realized things I couldn’t have grasped by reading countless books, encountering various objects, or participating in numerous activities – I understood them by facing them directly on the ground. I truly felt how narrow the world I had been living in was until then, and I deeply understood how important it is to have a broader perspective.
Above all, this experience gave me clarity about the direction I should pursue. Rather than simply following the existing domestic market trends, I developed a goal: to create innovative ideas that could breathe new life into the market. This led me to seriously consider working in LG Electronics’ R&D field, and I continue to prepare relentlessly toward that goal.
Through various challenges so far, I’ve learned not to fear failure and gained the conviction that failure can lead to even greater growth. Moving forward, I want to develop my own ideas based on a unique perspective and tenacious perseverance. And on that journey, I aim to learn more and take on even greater challenges.

Achievement Experience

“Free Tutoring That Started with Two Students Grew to Thirty”
I always thought that once I got into college, I absolutely wanted to try volunteering. The seed for that idea came from a TED Talk. I heard a speaker talk about the global college enrollment population, and the shock I felt then remains vividly in my memory to this day.
According to the talk, only 1% of the world’s population can attend college. I learned that the remaining 99%, no matter how much they yearned for it, couldn’t even step through the university gates due to family circumstances, social constraints, lack of educational resources, and other reasons. In that moment, I resolved: if I went to university, I would be one of the fortunate few who gained the opportunity that 99% desperately desired. I decided I had to be someone who shared that fortune.
After entering university and a year had passed, I immediately sought out a local pioneer church and began volunteering as a free tutor. At first, few people readily came because of the word ‘free’. There were only two students. But I didn’t stop at simply teaching them how to solve problems. I began teaching them the essence of studying that couldn’t be learned at cram schools or regular schools – how to study, how to think.
Rather than focusing on how to write well, I helped them find their own voice. Instead of teaching quick problem-solving techniques, I nurtured their ability to ask questions themselves. Perhaps my sincerity resonated, because the students’ satisfaction grew steadily, and word of mouth naturally began to spread. That free tutoring program gradually expanded over time, eventually growing into a place where over 30 students studied together.
As the number of students grew, college student volunteers eager to help began gathering one by one. What started alone has now become a warm learning community where we pool our strength and support each other.
While I no longer teach the classes myself, I occasionally visit the site to bring snacks or offer words of encouragement. Every time I go there, a part of my heart aches yet feels deeply fulfilled. What makes me happiest is that this small activity I quietly started continues uninterrupted to this day.
Through this experience, I learned that one person’s passion can unlock another’s potential. That I, having gained the opportunity of university, shared that opportunity with the world. I can confidently say that alone is the most meaningful achievement of my life.

Lessons Learned from Failure

“You must prioritize the most important things first.”
Looking back now, it was truly an absurd mistake. This happened during my university days when I was serving as department president. I poured immense passion into preparing our department’s pub for the annual university festival. Our team worked seamlessly together; juniors followed my lead well, and seniors were always a reliable support. The atmosphere was great, and the preparation process was filled with nothing but enthusiasm and anticipation.
Back then, we wanted to create something beyond a simple booth; we poured out various ideas to make a unique and special festival. We prepared diverse plans like a ‘Senior Welcome Event’ reminiscent of Homecoming Day and a commemorative ceremony to present flowers to professors. We even participated directly in a presentation competition to secure the budget by submitting these proposals to the school. We were that sincere, and everyone was passionate about this project.
But we overlooked the ‘most important thing’. That was securing a venue. It was the first and most crucial item to check for the festival, but in our excitement, we failed to take care of it. By the time we belatedly tried to book a venue, all the popular spots had already been snapped up by other departments and clubs. In the end, we had to operate our pub in a small, awkwardly laid-out space, alternating between classrooms and the playground.
Fortunately, our seniors and professors generously understood the situation. They even saw it as a fun little mishap and cheered us on. While the festival ended on a happy note, it left me with an unforgettable, painful lesson.
This experience taught me how crucial the ‘order of planning’ truly is. I learned firsthand that no matter how brilliant the idea or how passionate the team, lacking basic preparation can destabilize the entire plan. Since then, I’ve developed the habit of first identifying ‘what is most important’ in any task, setting priorities, and then preparing step by step.
Failure is never the end; rather, it can serve as a stepping stone for a better beginning. I believe that thanks to that dizzying experience, I now possess the strength to plan any endeavor without losing my center. That’s why, even today, I start each day by taking care of the most important things first.

Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality

If I had to describe my personality in one word, it would be ‘thoroughness’. I am someone who doesn’t do things half-heartedly or muddle through; I make sure to tie up loose ends. This thoroughness is particularly evident in three areas: studying, work, and fun.
First, regarding study, I always prioritize thoroughness. Sometimes the sheer volume of required study feels overwhelming, leading others to abandon it or avoid it altogether, but I did not. Some friends around me chose leisure over exam preparation or approached studying with a vague attitude like “I’ll just keep trying until it works.” However, I studied by setting a plan and executing it step by step. Systematic planning and thorough execution are the core of my study method. In fact, my ability to master English and Japanese in just two months of intensive study was thanks to this ‘decisive approach to learning’.
The same applies to work. Since my student days, I’ve held various part-time jobs, always approaching my responsibilities with the mindset that ‘this is something I must take full responsibility for’. When working as a tutor at an academy, I didn’t just teach classes. I meticulously looked after each student individually and proactively handled ancillary tasks like cleaning the academy and managing student records. My supervisor at the time expressed trust in me, saying, “You get things done without being asked,” and later entrusted me with important responsibilities like managing finances and organizing supplies. This attitude of mine went beyond just handling tasks well; it became the foundation for building trust and growing within the organization.
And I am definitely someone who enjoys ‘fun’. I believe enjoyment is an indispensable element in life. Life can sometimes be tough and exhausting, but that’s precisely why I believe we should live ‘enjoyably’. When I rest, I rest thoroughly; when I socialize, I engage sincerely and fully savor the moment. I believe this balanced approach—focusing when studying, fulfilling responsibilities at work, and enjoying leisure time to the fullest—keeps my life healthy.
Of course, this “definite personality” doesn’t always work solely to my advantage. Because I tend to be clear-cut in my decisions, I sometimes get labeled as “cold” by those around me. While this helps with efficiency and accuracy in work, it can sometimes lack emotional flexibility or smoothness in relationships. However, I am aware of this aspect of myself and am working to gradually find balance through my professional life and personal relationships. My challenge and goal is to become someone who maintains warmth even within firmness.
Moving forward, I will continue to approach everything—whether it’s studying, work, or relationships with people—with sincerity, grounded in my own ‘definite’ attitude. In this process, I will work to compensate for my shortcomings and further develop my strengths.

Future Plans

“Innovative LG, and me at its center!”
I am someone who always envisions and imagines the future. In that future, I stand at the heart of ‘Innovative LG’. Though still a newcomer, I can state with certainty: I will become a key player in the technology and R&D that will spark new innovation at LG.
I believe LG is a company that embraces the world and nurtures its growth. Within that boundless potential and value, I too wish to fully unleash my capabilities. It may be a small beginning, but I want to create meaningful change within it.
I believe technology is ultimately for people, and innovation starts with making everyday life better. Based on that belief, I want to constantly learn and challenge myself, building LG’s future together.
I say this with all sincerity. I want to grow alongside LG on this journey ahead and contribute to making the innovation LG dreams of a reality.
I look forward to working with you.
