This blog post introduces how to naturally and authentically convey the trust and relationship-oriented attitude required for trading work in your self-introduction letter.
Growth Environment
I believe people can never live alone, nor should they. The notion that one can live sufficiently alone might be arrogance. As everyone says, humans are social creatures. To eat and sustain life, we need relationships with others, including family. If one becomes trapped in a solitary world, they risk becoming less a ‘person’ and more an ‘otaku’—a being disconnected from society.
People don’t live solely on their own abilities; ultimately, we live within the invisible support and care of others. Therefore, the belief that “I can live well on my own” can be a foolish delusion, and such an attitude can become a dangerous factor that severs human relationships. That’s why I believe relationships between people are more important than anything else. Even when encountering someone for the first time on the street, I always carry the thought that this person might influence my life in some way. This prevents me from making hasty judgments or treating them carelessly.
Furthermore, I’ve learned through experience that someone who doesn’t trust others cannot accomplish anything perfectly. In the past, I too tried to handle everything alone, trusting only myself. However, the results often fell short of expectations. I frequently finished tasks rushed for time or with lingering regrets about their quality. Acting like a lone wolf, doing everything my own way, inevitably led to mistakes or inefficiency. What I thought was ‘perfect’ often turned out to be contradictory. Through this experience, I realized that working together and trusting people is the true path to completion.
Since then, I’ve come to believe that maintaining an ‘appropriate distance’ in relationships is crucial. This ‘distance’ doesn’t mean disconnection; it refers to a relationship where I can preserve my own autonomy while sharing warm intimacy with others. Blindly following someone or unconditionally liking them can easily lead to abandoning your own life and becoming subordinate to another. Such relationships often drift into a form of one-sided submission rather than mutual respect or trust, which I believe is not a healthy human connection.
My father’s influence was significant in shaping this value. He always said, “Faith in people is the last way to maintain our humanity.” Indeed, many people were always by his side. He never regretted his faith in people and always shared both hardships and joys with those around him. That warmth is what made him a father who truly embodied the human touch, and I believe growing up witnessing that allowed me to develop into someone who carries that same human warmth.
Lessons Learned Through School Life
From elementary school, I not only enjoyed spending time with friends but also found interest in buying and selling things to make small profits. For example, I took pleasure in sorting collectible items like trading cards into good and bad products, then trading them for better deals. Through these experiences, I naturally made many friends and learned how to communicate and build relationships with people.
This inclination developed further upon entering middle school. Realizing that selling better products at higher prices required discernment and knowledge, I focused on my studies to build my skills. Beyond simply pursuing profit, an attitude of connecting learning with practice took root during this period.
During high school, I spent three years in a paper folding club, cultivating my manual dexterity and creativity. Initially, I merely followed instructions from origami books, often getting stuck when the instructions became slightly complex. However, as time passed, my hands grew more skilled and I developed a sense for it, gradually advancing into the realm of creation. I discovered the joy of adding my own ideas to existing instructions and creating pieces with entirely different atmospheres based on color or texture, even for the same origami form. This process taught me the importance of adaptability and creativity beyond just a hobby, which soon proved highly beneficial in my studies. It was an experience of deeply immersing myself in one task and discovering new value within it.
Later, I felt a desire to share the experience and skills I gained through origami with others. After entering university, I volunteered teaching origami classes to elementary school students, experiencing the joy of sharing what I had learned. I realized origami isn’t just a simple game; it genuinely aids children’s intellectual development and improves their concentration. I became convinced that introducing such activities from a young age can have an even more positive impact. When teaching, I used paper in various colors and textures to capture the children’s interest, and their response was incredibly enthusiastic. It was deeply impressive to see them experience the same sense of wonder I felt when I first folded new paper.
Of course, I always approached my studies with diligence, striving to give my best effort in every moment. The diverse experiences gained through school life strengthened me and taught me to cherish human connections. Personally experiencing how a small interest born from a hobby can lead to sharing and growth, I resolved to become someone who gives their all to any task and shares what they learn with others.
Personality
I take after my father in personality and my mother in appearance, making me bright and cheerful. I strive to maintain a positive attitude in all matters and, being affectionate, enjoy attentively caring for those around me. I also enjoy conversing with friends, naturally maintaining close relationships with many. Thanks to this personality, I served as class president from elementary school through high school and, during university, led various activities as department representative. Her love for socializing extends to active participation in online communities and vibrant communication through social media. Interacting with diverse people online has allowed her to indirectly hear varied life stories, broadening her perspective on the world.
There was a time I was deeply immersed in blogging. Interested in the trade field, I began researching information about global trade fairs and systematically organizing it on my blog. Unexpectedly, many people showed interest in my posts and visited as followers. Every day when I opened my computer, I found numerous questions and inquiries waiting for me, and I found this response both fascinating and deeply appreciated. It made me think, ‘There really is potential to connect with everyone in the world.’
As such, I am a genuinely sociable person who truly enjoys meeting people. I also believe that trade work involves meeting diverse individuals, understanding each other’s positions, and building mutual understanding. Therefore, the trade field aligns exceptionally well with my personality, and I wish to further leverage my strengths in this work of connecting people.
Career Experience (or Experience Demonstrating Work Competency)
While majoring in trade, I keenly felt my foreign language skills were still significantly lacking. Consequently, I set the goal of becoming fluent in both English and Chinese and have consistently dedicated myself to mastering both languages. Having a clear objective allowed me to stay focused without wavering, and I believe this led to tangible results. Learning two languages simultaneously was by no means easy, but fortunately, English and Chinese share similarities in word order and structure, which aided my learning. As I studied, I increasingly felt the two languages complemented each other, making the process more interesting and less arduous.
I currently hold a TOEFL score of 110, HSK Level 6 certification, and a Trade English qualification. I particularly view Trade English as a crucial asset that will provide a practical foundation for future trade operations. It was an experience focused not merely on language acquisition, but on developing practical skills applicable in real trade settings. Through this learning and preparation process, I cultivated not only language proficiency but also a self-directed attitude of setting and achieving goals.
Reasons for Applying and Aspirations After Joining
Charles Caleb Colton once said, “To know a man, look not how he fails, but how he succeeds. For when he fails, his pride sustains him; but when he succeeds, his pride betrays him.” These words resonated deeply with me. I believe a person’s true character is revealed precisely in moments of success. I have always strived to reflect on myself and maintain humility.
Humans are valuable beings precisely because we can learn and grow through others. I have always kept an open mind, seeking to learn from others’ strengths rather than focusing on their weaknesses. This is not mere pragmatism; it has been the driving force that prevents me from falling into arrogance and enables my steady growth. Thus, I maintain humility in my relationships and live with constant gratitude for the preciousness of human connections.
Since first learning about your company, I became convinced that the field of trade is exceptionally well-suited to me. Your management philosophy, particularly its focus on raw materials, deeply resonated with my own values. Your social contribution activities, extending beyond the pursuit of corporate profit, struck me as both refreshing and deeply moving. Your philosophy of considering social responsibility alongside profit, rather than solely pursuing revenue, aligns perfectly with my own aspirations, naturally drawing me to your company.
I firmly believe that applying to your company at this juncture, driven solely by the confidence that I can work diligently, is by no means a reckless endeavor. To build this confidence, I have consistently prepared myself by acquiring knowledge and practical skills related to trade administration, a process that has strengthened me significantly. I firmly believe my passion, practical skills, and attitude of trusting people and seeking mutual growth will be a definite asset to your company.
I value people-centered principles and wish to work wholeheartedly within an organization that advances together based on trust. If you grant me this precious opportunity, I will prove that your choice was the right one. I will become a member who grows alongside your company and creates greater value. Thank you.
