This blog post introduces how to incorporate diligence and time management skills—essential for administrative roles—into your self-introduction, focusing on concrete experiences and examples rather than simple personality descriptions.
Growth Process
“Stand on Your Own Two Feet by Twenty”
My parents always emphasized that their top priority in raising me was fostering the independence to stand on my own in society by the age of twenty. I didn’t fully grasp this as a child, but upon entering university, I became profoundly grateful for their guidance.
Growing up with dual-income parents, I actively participated in even the smallest tasks and communicated closely with them. No matter what I did, my parents always asked me first what I thought. They encouraged and supported my choices. Even when I did something as outlandish as Edison hatching eggs, they praised my creativity and imagination. Thanks to this, I never once avoided doing something I wanted to do out of fear of the outcome or others’ judgment. I grew into a man who plans for himself and acts proactively and independently.
While granting me freedom of choice, my parents instilled one strict principle: maintaining proper manners. They taught me to always have a considerate heart toward others. I spent my school years keeping these words close to my heart and putting them into practice. Particularly during my sophomore year of high school, when I served as class president, I personally organized a fundraising drive to help underprivileged neighbors. This activity earned me a school service award.
Even in college, when making important choices that required input from many friends, I always prioritized my mother’s opinion. However, I possessed the ability to make my own judgments rather than unconditionally relying on my parents during difficult times. This allowed me to approach everything with a much more confident attitude than my peers.
Seeing friends who struggled with decision-making, I felt renewed gratitude for my parents’ educational approach, which fostered self-reliance and independence. I learned to handle any task responsibly and navigate relationships flexibly, developing into a person with adaptability who leaves a positive impression.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Personality
“Planned and Efficient”
My strength lies in setting goals, creating plans, and executing them step by step when working. My ability to process tasks systematically allows me to proceed without delay, which is a significant advantage. When studying for Word Processor and Computer Proficiency certifications, I planned my study schedule, prioritized tasks, and studied accordingly, which allowed me to pass without difficulty.
I maintain close bonds with people I become friends with. While I don’t reveal my inner self immediately, I take time to get to know people deeply. Once a friendship forms, I nurture it deeply and long-term. Friends with whom I’ve maintained long-lasting friendships often describe me as ‘genuine’.
I have always managed my time well and utilized it as efficiently as possible. During my university years, I focused intensely on my studies while simultaneously juggling two part-time jobs and volunteer work. I found fulfillment in making the most of my time, even without being told to do so.
I considered not only promises made to friends but also commitments I made to myself to be important, striving diligently to keep my goals. I also considered attending school diligently every single day without fail as a promise to the school itself. I attended faithfully, never once being late or absent.
School Life
“Learning at school and gaining experience at school”
My choice to major in Public Administration was largely with civil service in mind. However, the more I studied, the more I realized there wasn’t just one path, and I studied with an open mind toward various career paths. I frequently took courses in the related field of Business Administration, particularly focusing on classes related to Human Resource Management and Organizational Management. I believed Human Resource Management and Organizational Management were crucial values for any institution or organization, so I studied these areas with interest beyond my major.
During my time at university, I was very active in departmental activities. I participated actively from the freshman orientation, wanting to adapt quickly to the unfamiliar environment. This allowed me to make friends and be remembered as an impressive junior by my seniors, so I wasn’t awkward when the semester started.
I believe that without the two years I spent in the military during my university life, the four years would have passed without me even realizing how time flew by. Serving in the military for two years starting from my sophomore year gave me time to reflect on my university life so far, plan for the future, and reassess myself.
After returning to school, I worked as a work-study student in the department office for one semester. Running errands for the teaching assistant sister often took me to the main building’s Academic Affairs Office. Helping professors with paperwork and office organization, and discussing my future with them, strengthened my relationships with the faculty.
After successfully completing my department work-study position, I took a one-month part-time job as an administrative assistant at the Admissions Office as university entrance exams approached. Taking on this role through the recommendation of my departmental teaching assistant sister made me realize that applying my major in Public Administration could be valuable not only in government agencies but also within the university itself.
Motivation and Aspirations
“Act wisely with pride in our university!”
From a young age, I learned responsibility and grew into an independent-minded individual. Understanding that choices require accountability, I approached everything with caution and maintained an attitude of completing chosen tasks diligently, putting my name on the line.
During my university years, I worked as a work-study student in the department office and gained experience through part-time work at the school admissions office. While majoring in Public Administration, I also acquired specialized professional knowledge. Having successfully completed the four-year curriculum and graduated from university, rather than leaving with regret, I seized the opportunity to work at our school without hesitation.
I believe it is a source of immense pride that my university is where I begin my journey as a member of society after completing my long journey as a student. Having spent four years at this university, I am more familiar than anyone with its circumstances and am well-versed in its operational procedures. Therefore, if I am given the opportunity to work as an administrative staff member, I will continuously acquire knowledge across diverse fields and strive to be an employee who responds wisely and swiftly, even when faced with difficult tasks.
