How to Persuasively Convey Diligence and Trustworthiness in a Sales Position Self-Introduction?

This blog post introduces methods to persuasively convey diligence and trustworthiness in a sales position self-introduction, along with reference examples.

My Background

My father, who worked in the transportation industry, always left for work at the crack of dawn. He left home before us, and by the time I returned from school, he had already finished his day and was preparing for the next by going to bed. Though we didn’t spend much time together amidst such a busy routine, he was a warm-hearted person who would always leave a gift and a handwritten note by my pillow on special days before heading to work. Thanks to his thoughtful heart, even though we weren’t well-off, I grew up feeling rich and warm inside. I believe it was his love that gave me the confidence to act boldly anywhere and interact with people without hesitation.
During my school years, we couldn’t afford cram schools or private tutors, but thanks to my close-knit siblings, I managed my studies without major difficulties. My older brother and sister always helped me with my homework, solving problems together and serving as a great support so I could stay focused and continue my studies. Thanks to them, I was able to enter university with stable grades without any major setbacks. The self-motivation and sense of responsibility I built during that process became an important foundation for my life.
Looking back now, I realize that many of the things I was given weren’t just the result of simple effort. The love and care within my family, the warm and harmonious environment I grew up in, were truly the most precious assets of my life. Because I had those times where, even amidst scarcity, we looked out for each other and grew together, I became someone who can maintain a positive mindset and believe in myself no matter the situation. In this way, my family has been both the driving force and the pillar of my life, and I want to continue living while cherishing that value in the years ahead.

School Days

During my school years, I was a typical boy: lively, active, and passionate about sports. At recess, I was always the first to dash to the basketball court. Weekends were filled with soccer, baseball, and every other sport I could find. I much preferred moving my body and working up a sweat to sitting still. My days were packed with physical activity.
My physical education teacher, who had been keeping an eye on me, one day suggested I major in physical education. Since I not only loved sports but also felt it suited my aptitude, I chose to major in physical education without much hesitation. University life was inevitably centered around sports, so the schedule was tight and demanding. However, because I genuinely enjoyed the activities themselves, I managed to handle both classes and training without significant difficulty. In fact, studying my major opened my eyes to a wider variety of sports. I developed an interest in seasonal sports too, eventually earning instructor certifications in several disciplines like water skiing and snowboarding. During breaks, I used these certifications for part-time work, gaining practical experience while also enjoying my favorite sports to my heart’s content. It was truly a rewarding time, killing two birds with one stone.
During the semester, I participated as a member of a volunteer group within my department that focused on youth outreach. I helped with after-school programs for children from low-income families. My tasks mostly involved playing sports like basketball or soccer with the kids or simply listening to their stories. Even so, knowing that these small acts brought them a little precious joy, despite their difficult circumstances, motivated me to give my all. Those times spent sweating together during sports, and sometimes sharing our innermost thoughts, remain special memories for me too.
What stands out most is that I still keep in touch with some of the kids I played sports with back then. One student, inspired by our time together, nurtured a dream of becoming a physical education teacher and recently succeeded in getting into university to major in physical education. When I received the news, I felt even more proud and grateful for that student than for myself. It was the most rewarding moment of my teaching career, deeply moved by the fact that I could bring a small positive change to someone’s life.
Looking back, I’m truly thankful that the time I spent learning and growing while doing what I love didn’t just end in my own satisfaction, but could also have a meaningful impact on someone else. I want to continue sharing what I have and living a life of mutual growth.

Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality

I often hear people around me say things like, “You have a great personality,” or “You’re a good person.” I think this stems from consistently playing sports since I was young, which made me accustomed to group activities, discipline, and following rules. It also naturally taught me how to get along well with others. The attitudes I learned and internalized through group life have made me more flexible and stable, and I feel these traits positively influence my social life.
In particular, ‘consistency’ and ‘sincerity’ are habits and attitudes I’ve cultivated over many years of training. Thanks to this, I’m often seen as a reliable person in various situations. I take responsibility for tasks until completion and rarely break a promise once made. Consequently, people I interact with often tell me they “trust me.” This sense of reliability is something I take great pride in.
However, one of my shortcomings is that I can come across as a bit blunt at first glance. I don’t immediately project a kind or gentle image, so I can come across as cold to people meeting me for the first time. But after talking a little more and spending time together, that impression usually changes quickly. Like the soft kernel hidden inside a hard walnut shell, my warmth and thoughtfulness naturally reveal themselves over time.
I believe everyone possesses diverse facets of personality, and it’s the interplay of these complex traits that shapes a person’s overall image. I am no exception. Among these, if I had to pick two core words that describe me, I would say ‘faith’ and ‘trust’. These two words transcend mere personality traits; they are also the values I hold most dear in building and maintaining relationships with others. I believe faith and trust solidify any relationship and provide the fundamental strength to overcome difficulties together. In that sense, I want to continue building good relationships with people, keeping these two values at the center.

Career History (or experience demonstrating work capabilities)

There was a time when I contemplated pursuing a career as a physical education teacher or coach, leveraging my major. Having spent most of my childhood immersed in sports, it felt natural to envision a life where I made athletics my profession. However, my desire to experience a broader world, building on the diverse experiences and knowledge gained in school, gradually grew stronger. Ultimately, I decided to challenge myself in a new field. As graduation approached, following a senior’s recommendation, I began working as an FC (Financial Consultant) at an insurance company.
The field of insurance sales was entirely new to me, so it felt unfamiliar and awkward. Meeting new people every day, understanding them, persuading them, and explaining things – this whole process was unfamiliar. But as time passed, I learned a lot from the fact that everyone has different personalities and values, and that diversity became a challenge for me. After mastering the fundamentals of sales through my senior’s advice, training, and practical learning about insurance products, I began to desire work that allowed for more organic communication with people, rather than simply delivering financial or insurance products.
Coincidentally, I received a scouting offer from the owner of a sports goods store, whom I had known well since my school days. This led me to start a new challenge as a store manager and supervisor at a large sports goods store in Gangnam. The perseverance and diligence I developed through sports, combined with the understanding of people I gained from insurance sales, naturally merged, making store management a perfect fit for me. In fact, during my ○ years there, I achieved record-breaking sales figures rarely seen before, giving me a tremendous sense of accomplishment.
This successful experience at the sports store boosted my confidence, sparking a desire to challenge myself in a new field. Thus, in 20○○, I joined ○○ Company, a manufacturer of medical assistive devices, as a sales representative, marking the start of my full-fledged corporate career. Early on, I underwent training alongside my peers in a group-living environment, experiencing ‘real corporate life’ based on teamwork and systematic processes—a stark contrast to my previous work. Medical assistive devices presented yet another entirely new world to me. Acquiring specialized product knowledge was essential, but understanding the characteristics and needs of our customer base—hospital administrators and medical professionals—also demanded significant time and effort.
I focused on thoroughly mastering the structure and functions of the products based on the company manuals. I also volunteered to visit actual hospital settings where the products were used, gaining firsthand experience and observation. As my deep understanding of the products and experience in real-world usage environments grew, communication with customers became much smoother. These efforts directly translated into sales results. The company highly valued these achievements and my attitude, placing me first in various external activities like training programs, seminars, and trade shows.
Through my experience at ○○ Company, I learned firsthand that ‘sales’ is not merely about selling products. It requires understanding the customer, knowing the product thoroughly, and grasping the context in which it is used. Learning this truth—easier said than done—on the front lines has become a significant asset in my career and will undoubtedly serve as a crucial foundation for my future direction.

Motivation and Aspirations

Through my previous career and sales activities, I have witnessed the high regard and expectations the entire industry holds for ○○ Company’s diverse medical devices and services. I was deeply impressed not only by the quality of the products but also by the systematic nature of the after-sales service and sales management systems. While I take pride in being a salesperson, what I feel even more strongly is my identity and responsibility as a ‘specialized medical device sales professional’. I decided to apply with the desire to further expand the skills and experience I have built in the field thus far and to grow together with ○○ Company.
I value being one step ahead in preparation and approaching all tasks with consistency and sincerity. While continuously deepening my knowledge of the products, I always strive to think from the user’s perspective. I identify what sparks customer interest and what needs they have, then practice customer-centric sales by providing tailored explanations and proposals. I believe this constant consideration of what customers need and how best to approach them is fundamental to ‘how we treat people’ – going beyond mere sales. I am confident these fundamentals ultimately lead to results, and indeed, they have consistently delivered positive outcomes for me.
Moving forward, I aim to further solidify my position as a professional medical device salesperson, playing a pivotal role within the organization and becoming a central pillar. I earnestly request you take note of my experience, mindset, and sincere passion for growth. Should you grant me the opportunity to join the ○○ organization, I pledge to become a talent who will absolutely meet your expectations.
