This blog post introduces key points and persuasive writing strategies to craft a compelling sales position application essay.
Growth Process
Growing up, I sometimes felt hurt because my parents both worked full-time. Looking back, however, I believe that time became a major driving force in shaping who I am today. Despite their busy schedules, my parents always showed me deep care and love. Watching them, I resolved to become a child who wouldn’t cause them worry. I developed the habit of proactively finding and completing my tasks before they even asked. Naturally, a disciplined attitude became ingrained, allowing me to grow while managing myself rigorously.
Above all, my parents respected my ability to judge and decide for myself. Their support instilled a sense of responsibility in me and fostered the habit of carefully considering and deciding on everything. Whenever I faced a choice, I always deliberated thoroughly before deciding. Thanks to my parents’ warm support for those decisions, I was able to grow into a more confident person.
Additionally, my older brother, ten years my senior, always greeted me with a bright smile and fostered a positive atmosphere at home. As the youngest child born later in my parents’ lives, I grew up showered not only with my parents’ love but also my brother’s affection. This had a decisive influence on shaping my positive mindset. My brother never lost his smile, even during difficult times, and through his example, I learned how to approach life and interact with others.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. After graduating college and starting my first job, I suffered a deep emotional wound. Believing people were life’s most important asset, I was betrayed by someone close, plunging me into profound disappointment. I shut myself off, isolating myself. At that time, my eldest brother advised me, “You must turn this into an opportunity for growth.” My parents also told me, “Not everyone in the world is like that. Learn from this experience, but don’t lose your faith in people.”
Even so, my heart, which had become wary of trusting others easily, did not heal quickly. Then, through activities with the ○○ club, I gradually began to open up again. Even as I remained cautious around new people, trust and warmth began to seep back into my life. Through this activity, I personally came to feel that ‘there are still many people in our society worth spending time with.’ This volunteer group activity, which I’ve participated in since college, continues steadily to this day and has become a precious experience that rebuilt my faith in people and the world.
Building on this growth, I aspire to be someone who sincerely collaborates with colleagues in society, growing and developing together. I believe attitudes and values toward life aren’t formed overnight. The convictions and values I’ve cultivated over time through experience will continue to serve as a solid foundation for my life and work.
School Days
During my school days, I began retaking the college entrance exams after failing the first time. That period was more than just exam preparation; it was a precious opportunity for me to mature significantly. For someone who dreamed of an ordinary life and wanted to follow a similar path to my peers, the reality of continuing to study alone while all my friends had become university students was a difficult ordeal to endure. I even wondered if it might be better to enter society early and find a new path, but the thought that “if I don’t challenge myself one more time, it will remain a lifelong regret” wouldn’t leave my mind. Ultimately, I picked up my books again and threw myself back into exam preparation.
What was most difficult above all was the identity crisis stemming from my ambiguous status. Defining my own existence in that vague position—neither a university student nor a high school student—was not easy. But because it was my choice, I lived each day with the resolve to give it my absolute best effort. Determined not to rely on my parents, I worked part-time jobs to cover my living expenses, and balancing academics and work was by no means easy. The line from poet Ryu Si-hwa’s poem, “If only I had known then what I know now,” struck me deeply. Regret would sometimes hit me hard, wondering, “If only I had tried a little harder back then, would I have gotten into the university I wanted?” But this time, determined not to leave any regrets, I devoted myself to my studies day and night.
Not wanting to burden my parents financially, I juggled attending a prep academy with part-time work. Handling tasks like organizing class materials gave me the opportunity to attend various lectures for free, which greatly enhanced my learning abilities. Simultaneously, assisting with payment processing in the academy’s administrative office naturally sparked my interest in the field of business administration. Though it was a field I hadn’t previously considered, this practical experience became a meaningful stepping stone that brought me closer to the world of business.
Looking back, my retake year wasn’t merely a period of exam preparation; it was a time that broadened my perspective on life and prompted deep self-reflection. Above all, I gained the insight that ‘everything has its time, and if you persevere without giving up, a path will open.’ Building on this valuable experience, I aim to continuously challenge myself and grow, no matter the environment. If given a new opportunity to leap forward, I will repay that trust with the capability and attitude it deserves.
Regarding My Strengths and Weaknesses
Raised under my parents’ philosophy that “a harmonious home leads to success outside,” I grew up in a consistently warm and stable environment. My parents devoted significant effort to ensuring all family members lived with mutual respect and consideration. Receiving such love and attention naturally cultivated in me a disposition to care for others. My tendency to prioritize others’ feelings over my own has helped me maintain harmonious relationships with those around me. Over time, I’ve come to realize how invaluable this trait is in my life. The fact that many people remain by my side year after year brings me great happiness and comfort.
During my school years, my thoughtfulness and empathy towards friends often earned me positive evaluations from teachers. My attitude of sincerely listening to others and deeply empathizing with their feelings seemed to be a great comfort to my friends as well; many found conversations with me relaxing and opened up easily. This relationship-building based on listening and consideration didn’t stop with my school days but continued into my university years.
During my university years, I served as department president and worked hard to foster a cooperative and vibrant department atmosphere. At the time, the school had a somewhat individualistic atmosphere, and many students tended to focus more on certification exams or job preparation than on department activities. I found this indifference to community activities regrettable. Believing that the image of a practical intellectual was the true attitude of a university student, I promoted various activities to try to create a culture of togetherness. I planned gatherings and programs where students could participate voluntarily, increasing opportunities for natural conversation. Within these settings, I was able to leverage my personality strengths once again.
As we gathered and talked, conversations naturally flowed toward practical concerns like job hunting and anxieties about the future. Each time, I listened wholeheartedly, empathized with each other’s worries, and aimed to create a space for mutual comfort. The intimacy formed in this way became an opportunity to strengthen bonds among students, and I, too, found deep satisfaction in interacting with people. Furthermore, what I realized during this process was that the worries of young people living in this era are ultimately similar. As we opened up and shared, I saw their expressions lighten, and I truly felt that simply listening to someone’s story is also an important role.
Moving forward, I intend to leverage this personal strength to build sincere relationships with diverse individuals and practice the value of living together. Through experience, I’ve learned that consideration and empathy are not merely personality traits, but an attitude and philosophy for living life. I believe this philosophy will be my greatest asset, strengthening me throughout my future life.
Career History (Experience)
Through my advisor’s recommendation, I gained the opportunity to work at ○○. This institute, focused on practical proposals for advancing Korea’s logistics industry, actively pursued hands-on research activities. Participating in diverse projects there allowed me to build field-centered practical experience and significantly broaden my understanding of the logistics industry as a whole.
I continuously strived to develop expertise in my assigned field, obtaining accounting-related certifications such as ○○○ and ○○○ during this process. These certifications went beyond mere credentials, significantly enhancing my practical work performance and yielding clear results in terms of work efficiency and accuracy. Particularly, as this institute focused on import/export operations with foreign countries and collaborated with diverse global partners, I naturally came to deeply appreciate the necessity of foreign language skills.
While my English skills, cultivated steadily since university, allowed me to communicate with foreigners without major difficulties, I recognized the growing necessity of learning Chinese as trade with China increased significantly. Chinese presented distinct linguistic challenges compared to English, making the initial learning phase difficult. However, I studied systematically from the basics, gradually becoming familiar with its structure. Memorizing Chinese characters proved particularly challenging, but I overcame this step by step through repetitive learning and consistent practice.
As a result, I am now proficient in both English and Chinese. This linguistic capability provides a strong competitive edge, enabling seamless communication with overseas partners and facilitating diverse global business operations. I am confident that, building on this experience and skillset, I can make tangible contributions to enhancing your company’s business performance.
Motivation for Application and Aspirations
Contrary to my seemingly delicate first impression, I possess a strong mental fortitude. Despite my gentle appearance, I often surprise those around me with my decisive and responsible approach to assigned tasks. While I am certainly an ordinary person with a sensitive heart, I strive to completely set aside personal feelings when performing professional duties. I believe this reflects my serious attitude toward work and is a fundamental principle every professional must uphold.
I have long strived relentlessly to achieve the highest results in the sales field. I firmly believe that ‘effort never betrays you,’ and this conviction is deeply ingrained in my work ethic and attitude. By setting clear goals and advancing unwaveringly toward them, I have discovered my own potential, and this experience has led to confidence in myself.
I am confident that my personality strengths and professional capabilities are optimally aligned for sales work. I am skilled at accurately identifying the needs of others, building relationships based on trust, and driving tangible results with a commitment to seeing things through to the end. Moving forward, I will always give my utmost effort and dedicate all my capabilities to ensure that choosing me proves to be the ‘best hire’ possible.
