This blog post guides you on how to effectively showcase your experiences, skills, and strengths, focusing on the job competencies and ideal candidate profile CJ values most, along with specific writing strategies.
Please describe your motivation for applying to CJ
CJ Group’s competitiveness, built by top-tier talent creating a first-class culture, is growing beyond Korea to become a global leader. Its corporate spirit, which pursues not only the growth of the company and its employees but also health and a joyful life, was the most appealing factor to me as I started a family and reconsidered the meaning of life. I believe CJ’s foresight is evident in its operation of the Returnship Program, which provides new opportunities to women who, despite possessing great ability and the invaluable asset of family—the greatest driving force in their professional lives—were unable to re-enter society and had to live hiding their potential. This program demonstrates CJ’s leadership in fostering a sound corporate culture.
CJ’s strength—its ability to reset existing market and societal values, create new ones, and embrace change without hesitation to leap beyond Korea into the world—has already been proven. I felt the pride an employee of such a group should have and wanted to start my second life there. Just as women play vital roles for family and society, I want to regain self-esteem and pride in myself. To do this, I seek an opportunity to reflect on my turbulent past in my twenties and grow anew. Regardless of the field—be it food or culture—housewives are undoubtedly the largest consumer demographic. If I were to return to society through CJ’s Returnship program, I believe the skills I cultivated during my career hiatus could also serve as a positive competitive advantage. As someone who has highly valued CJ’s identity as a “company that creates culture” and consumed its value as a consumer and customer, becoming a CJ employee would not only enable my personal leap and growth but also significantly contribute to realizing the company’s vision. If given the opportunity to nurture my ambition to become a ‘specialized talent’—an ambition suppressed by the thirst for work that could only be applied within the home as a hidden talent in this society—I will repay that trust by becoming a proud asset to the company, a talent who unleashes astonishing potential.
Please describe your knowledge, skills, and experience related to the position in detail
“International Competitiveness Derived from Expertise and Experience”
After graduating with a degree in Journalism and Media Studies and completing a two-year research program, I began my professional career in the PR team at ○○○ Corporation. Following marriage, I worked as a journalist at a magazine publisher, leveraging my capabilities and creative thinking to gain experience in PR and media-related roles. When I relocated to China with my spouse, who was stationed there as an expatriate, my career was interrupted. This period caused me significant hardship, as I lost the pride and self-esteem I had as a working professional. Fortunately, I resolved to turn that time into an opportunity. I spent three years learning Chinese and worked hard to master fluent business vocabulary. Returning to Korea, I joined ○○○ Yacht Company, a foreign enterprise, where I gained experience in all aspects of PR, including marketing.
Through years of academic study and working as a professional, I realized that the greatest abilities of a PR expert are social skills and human resources. I also realized that rapid problem-solving ability is the most crucial quality proving one’s expertise. I possess capabilities grounded in my major knowledge and diverse field experience, and I am confident that the human resources I gained through this process are superior to those of other women with similar career gaps. Above all, my passion and pride in my professional field significantly influenced my return to society and my subsequent leap forward. I believe that professional life, beginning with recognizing one’s position as a member of society and taking pride in the organization as much as in one’s own development, is demonstrated with a more proactive and active attitude than before. Within CJ Group, which is growing primarily in the domestic market while building competitiveness in the international market, I believe my foundation, including experience working at a foreign company and language proficiency, can also have a positive impact. Growth in overseas markets is inconceivable without understanding their cultures and societies. If you recognize my qualifications and experience and grant me the opportunity to contribute again to society and CJ Group, I will demonstrate the passion and competitiveness inherent in a professional woman who works with a sense of vocation.
