This blog post explores how to express responsibility beyond basic driving skills—specifically, commitment to safety and punctuality—in a driver resume.
My Background
Growing up, my father worked at the port, busily managing countless ships and cargo. He was my pride and joy. Whenever I visited the port where he worked and watched the bustling scene of ships and cargo coming and going, I always felt a thrilling excitement watching him work up close.
Even in this age of advanced aviation, the sea and ships remain vital for tightly connecting the world. In that sense, though he never boarded a ship himself, my father’s steadfast, reliable presence as a ‘man of the sea’ deeply moved and inspired me. I nurtured the dream of becoming someone like him—a person with broad shoulders capable of leading others.
While my mother hoped I would pursue a more traditionally feminine path, my father always admired my dream and encouraged me to do my best. His words, “Whatever you choose to do, I will always support you,” became a steadfast pillar for me. Whenever I heard comments like “that’s not a proper hobby for a girl” because I loved ships and the sea, it hurt my feelings. But in those moments, my father’s support gave me great comfort and courage.
The strength to move forward to the end, trusting my own will and the support of those dear to me, without being swayed by anyone’s judgment or gaze, came from my father. I have strived to prove through my life and choices that women can actively engage in maritime and ship-related fields, demonstrating exceptional capabilities. Carrying that pride, I have kept running until now.
Dreams and Preparation During School Days
Prejudices persisted that port and ship-related fields were rough and difficult work for women. To overcome this perception, I stepped forward before anyone else, moved swiftly, and trained myself relentlessly. Recognizing that foreign language skills were essential for working on the global stage, I studied diligently. I also explored my career path earlier than my peers, setting my own direction. I knew that to stand out ahead of others, I had to master many critical abilities. I always believed that having a clear vision and starting preparations early was the only way to design a stable future. So, I did my utmost to cultivate each competency directly relevant to the field I would eventually enter. From a young age, I constantly pondered what abilities I needed to acquire now for the future. The responsibility felt heavy at times, but I was certain this was the path to building my unique competitive edge.
At times, the process of honing myself felt arduous. But whenever that happened, I recalled the scenes from my father’s workplace. The sight of massive ships, enormous cargo volumes, and the people moving busily to handle it all with skill, along with the systematic operations—whenever I remembered that, I drew strength by imagining myself working right in the midst of it all someday. The more I pushed myself today, building my capabilities step by step, the more vividly the future self that once existed only in my imagination came into focus. In this way, I was steadily constructing a solid bridge connecting my imperfect present to my ideal future.
This effort became more than mere preparation; it became a source of positive energy for me. The strength to endure any hardship and wisely overcome crises stemmed from the conviction: ‘I will definitely live that future.’ I always kept my own vision of the future in mind, refining it again and again so it would be the driving force constantly pushing me to grow. Thus, even today, I quietly prepare for a slightly better version of myself, building a day that won’t shame my future self.
Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality
“The Power of Believing in Possibilities”
Rather than dwelling on my limitations or constraints, I possess a personality that leans toward believing more strongly in the possibilities I can achieve and the power of effort, moving forward positively. This inclination has been with me since childhood. Watching my father work at the port, I naturally developed an admiration for the shipping industry and nurtured a dream of working in that field myself. However, those around me repeatedly tried to discourage my hopes, calling it an “unladylike dream,” and at one point, I nearly gave up.
Nevertheless, I chose to believe in what I could do rather than what I couldn’t. I worked harder than anyone, channeling my tenacity and passion to develop my own unique strengths. My father always said, “If you show your own effort and passion, people will eventually prefer you.” I took those words to heart and walked my path with determination. Ever since I realized that thoughts can profoundly impact both body and life depending entirely on how they are received, I have strived to view the world from an increasingly positive perspective.
Of course, along the way, I’ve heard advice like, “Why choose the hard path?” or “You should prioritize practical benefits over unconditional passion.” However, I believed that it is precisely when I immerse myself wholeheartedly in what I truly desire that I can unleash my greatest passion. That is why I have always taken one step at a time in the direction my heart points, giving it my all. Even if it seems like a detour to others, I am certain that the time I spent learning and growing along that path was never wasted.
Values
Each person’s value judgment regarding what they want to do is bound to differ. The most important criterion society places on jobs these days is ‘stability’. Consequently, civil service-related positions face overwhelming competition, and in this ever-changing, unpredictable world, people live with a lingering sense of unease. Some say that when choosing a career, “stability is the most important thing.” Perhaps because of this, we often find ourselves repeatedly trying to force-fit people into existing molds, cutting away any parts that don’t fit, without considering whether they’re suited for the job or even assessing their individual capabilities or aptitudes.
I, too, have been advised to take a somewhat safe career path that would only maintain a stable daily life, instead of the path I genuinely desired and worked hard to achieve. I was repeatedly told to change my mind, advised that a mere sense of satisfaction might suffice instead of pursuing fulfillment or passion. Yet, by steadfastly walking my own path without wavering, I have reached my current position. Moving forward, I intend to continue walking my own path, firmly establishing my own values and autonomy, rather than being swayed by others’ expectations or standards.
Reasons for Applying and Future Aspirations
As a child, I admired my father who worked at the port, and naturally, I nurtured a dream of working in the shipping industry. However, simply because of my gender, the path to achieving that dream was far from smooth. I faced prejudiced views that focused solely on external conditions rather than my ability or passion, and at times, I nearly gave up. Yet I persevered because I firmly believe the true measure of one’s worth lies not in innate conditions, but in self-proven capabilities. This conviction led me to aspire to prove my true value at a company that cherishes such principles. Your company deeply impressed me as a place that actively practices this standard, which is why I am applying.
If your company grants me the opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities, I will strive even more fiercely to be evaluated solely on my ability and aptitude. To overcome the conditions I was given, I have lived my life with more diligence than anyone else, and the skills and attitude I have cultivated through this process have become my greatest assets. I did not simply stop at the word ‘overcoming’; rather, I sought to become stronger through that very process. I believe this trajectory of my life holds meaning beyond a simple resume. I intend to pour my cultivated skills and passion into your company without reservation, striving to be remembered as someone you want to work with. I wish to fully demonstrate, as a member of your company, the evidence of my fiercely lived past.
