Growth Process
“Growing up healthy in a lively and harmonious family”
Though born and raised in Seoul, I spent my childhood in an environment close to nature, with mountains near my home. Following my grandfather, who would climb the mountain after meals as a stroll, I naturally began hiking from a very young age, before I can even remember. Particularly vivid is the memory of holding my grandfather’s hand and climbing the mountain every Saturday and Sunday morning to fetch spring water during my kindergarten years. I don’t recall when I first reached the summit, but hiking had become deeply ingrained in our family’s daily life.
My grandfather held the philosophy that “studying is something you do if you have a hobby, but health is essential for everyone.” Thanks to him, our family naturally lived in an atmosphere that enjoyed exercise. On weekends, the whole family would spend time playing badminton together. Through games where the winning team got to decide who cooked lunch or dinner, we naturally developed teamwork and strengthened our bonds. Because we spent so much time laughing and joking while exercising together, our family relationships were incredibly close and strong.
Having been exposed to badminton from a young age, I even dreamed of becoming a badminton player during my elementary school years. However, I realized early on that liking something and being good at it are different, and exercise became a precious hobby that brought vitality to my life.
Our home was always bustling and full of energy. Growing up in such a lively family atmosphere naturally helped me develop a bright and positive personality. Centered around my grandfather, my parents always embodied the importance of family through their actions. When anyone faced hardship, they provided unwavering encouragement and support, becoming a source of strength. Thanks to the efforts of every family member, our home was always a warm space filled with constant laughter.
On special days like birthdays or holidays, even family members living far away would gather together, celebrating as if hosting a grand event and sharing joyful times. This environment naturally instilled in me the understanding that ‘family’ is not merely a collection of individuals, but a steadfast pillar of support throughout life.
Growing up within this extended family centered around my grandfather, I also learned the responsibility of being the eldest son—respecting elders and guiding my younger siblings. This emphasis on etiquette, along with valuing one’s role and harmony within the community, remains a crucial asset that shaped who I am today.
Growing up in such a harmonious and supportive family environment deeply ingrained the meaning of family in me, and these values only solidified further after marriage when I started my own household. I now believe it is my turn to be that reliable presence for someone else, and I live my life always prioritizing responsibility and love for my family above all else.
School Life
“Acquiring both technical skills and theoretical knowledge through junior college and transfer to a four-year program”
From a young age, I felt a natural interest in working with machinery, which led me to dream of attending an engineering college. This dream brought me to the Mechanical Engineering Department at a technical college, where I could receive hands-on, practice-centered education. The desire to learn more practical skills and enter the workforce quickly was a major factor in this decision.
My studies at the technical college were highly practical. It was an opportunity to study not only mechanical engineering but also electrical engineering. Through my classes, I learned diverse theories like new machine development and improvement, as well as engineering analysis. Simultaneously, I gained broad practical knowledge—from the operating principles of everyday machines to the manufacturing methods of industrial machinery used on factory floors.
After graduation, I joined ○○ Machinery, where I managed electrical components and production equipment for food processing lines. I conducted comprehensive inspections of all machinery operating within the factory and handled repairs directly when issues arose. Since the company was not large, I also handled client relations and administrative tasks alongside field work. This naturally sparked my interest in business management and sales.
However, while performing these duties, I realized my lack of theoretical knowledge in management. This made me keenly aware of the need to supplement my education. Thus, I transferred into the evening business administration program at a four-year university. Initially, I juggled work and studies, leading a busy life. Yet, as time passed, my desire to focus more on my studies grew stronger. Ultimately, after one year, I left the company and dedicated my final senior year entirely to my studies.
Although I started studying late in life, the night program was filled with many others like me who had first experienced the working world before diving into academics later. Being able to continue my studies alongside peers in the same situation, supporting each other, was a tremendous source of strength. Thanks to this, I was able to build a solid foundation in economic and business theory and systematically resolve the questions I had encountered during my practical work experience.
The practical skills I gained at the technical college and the theoretical knowledge acquired through transferring to a four-year university form the core pillars of who I am today. Balancing field experience with academic knowledge was challenging, but it was invaluable time, and I am confident it will serve as a solid foundation for my future career.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Personality
“See tasks through to the end; offer generous praise to others”
I possess a tenacious personality that sees tasks through to completion once committed. During my university days, I struggled with a mechanical drafting class project when desired results eluded me. Unable to abandon it due to the pre-next-class submission deadline, I secured permission from the teaching assistant and worked through the night in the lab to finish. It was a challenging time, but my focused effort to complete it earned me praise from my professor: “This is the most meticulous and well-executed work.” This experience taught me the important lesson that ‘results will follow if you don’t give up.’
I am also someone who gives praise readily. Personally, receiving praise energizes me and fuels my passion for my work, so I understand better than anyone how powerful a motivator it can be for others. That’s why I make a conscious effort to sincerely praise even the smallest, most minor accomplishments of those around me. If someone does something well, I acknowledge their effort; if I see a strength in someone, I genuinely compliment that aspect. Thanks to this, I’ve always been able to maintain good relationships with people in a bright and positive atmosphere.
This trait was also a significant asset during my corporate career. I proactively fostered flexible relationships with team members and boosted colleagues’ morale, positively influencing the organization. As a result, I was honored with the ‘Model Employee Award’.
My strengths are ‘perseverance to see things through to the end’ and ‘a heart that discovers people’s strengths and encourages them through praise’. These two traits form the foundation that allows me to be a sincere and positive influence in any organization. Moving forward, I aim to build upon this character, approaching every task with responsibility and seeing it through to the end, while sharing positive energy with those I work alongside.
Career History
“Technical Sales, Exceptional Client Management Experience”
After obtaining my bachelor’s degree through transfer admission, my first company was ○○ Technology Co., Ltd. There, I was responsible for developing new clients and managing existing accounts using various small motor products for industrial, medical, and home use—DC Guard Motors, Air Motors, BLDC Motors (30W class), Step Motors, Step Drivers, Servo Motors, etc.
The accounts I inherited at the time had a chronic problem: delayed payments. I realized it wasn’t enough to simply follow instructions; I needed to fundamentally improve relationships with these clients. To achieve efficient client management, I developed a more proactive management plan. I also visited clients in their regions directly whenever possible, even outside working hours, to understand the on-site atmosphere and their specific requests.
I believed that trust with clients stems from a genuine approach that goes beyond a simple business relationship. For instance, when a client faced labor shortages, I personally joined their production line to assist. I prioritized actions over words to convey my sincerity. This approach fostered more flexible relationships with existing clients and naturally opened channels of communication.
As a result, I successfully improved collection rates for 80% of clients who had consistently delayed payments. Furthermore, I successfully expanded my sales territory beyond my assigned area to include Ansan and Jukjeon in Gyeonggi Province, directly securing new clients.
Through these experiences, I realized that technical sales requires not just product sales, but a comprehensive skill set blending problem-solving abilities, relationship-building techniques, and on-site intuition. Moving forward, I aim to grow into a sales expert who can build stable, trust-based transaction structures with customers in any environment, leveraging these experiences.
