How should a philosophy of ethical business management be expressed in a business school academic plan?

This blog post examines how a philosophy of ethical business management, emphasizing morality and coexistence, can be persuasively presented in a business school academic plan. It also analyzes how a vision for corporate social responsibility connects with understanding of the major and future goals.

Motivation for Pursuing a Degree (Reason for Choosing the Major)

Witnessing the national economy shaken by the U.S.-originated financial crisis led me to investigate its root causes. Realizing that the global economy collapsed almost overnight due to the moral hazard of American financial institutions made me keenly aware of the critical importance of corporate management. Management is defined as the process of designing and maintaining the optimal environment to achieve specific objectives. However, it is true that corporate management in our country often overlooks the distribution of wealth. In my opinion, such management is not maintaining the optimal environment in the long run.
In this regard, I dream of becoming a new generation of corporate manager, embodying a new corporate spirit reevaluated for its humanity and morality, and pursuing growth like the management revolution declared by a certain entrepreneur who proclaimed Frankfurt. To pursue this dream, I realized I must first establish an academic foundation, leading me to apply to the Business Administration Department. I also believe the distinguished faculty and curriculum of your esteemed university, ranked among Korea’s finest, will provide me with a solid academic foundation.

Academic Plan and Goals

During my studies, I intend to dedicate myself to my major to become a professional manager. Simultaneously, recognizing that fluent language skills are essential in this increasingly globalized era, I plan to focus intensely on language studies. I believe that broadening my linguistic horizons will also expand the breadth of information available on topics I wish to explore. My current plan is to complete my first year before serving in the military. Upon returning to school, I plan to study law courses alongside business administration, particularly commercial law. I believe commercial law is crucial for managing a business.
In my third year, I intend to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and will spare no effort to obtain the certification. Outside of academics, I will join the soccer and photography clubs. I believe physically active pursuits positively impact studies, and team sports like soccer enhance interpersonal skills. Additionally, I will pursue photography more professionally through the club, building on my longstanding interest. I want to create lasting memories of my university years and gain experience meeting diverse people.

Post-Graduation Plans

After graduation, I plan to pursue a graduate degree to build more specialized knowledge. I intend to establish an academic foundation and then seek employment at a fund management company. I believe gaining practical experience and understanding corporate culture is crucial. Based on this corporate experience, I will lay the groundwork for my own company. I plan to thoroughly prepare everything necessary for successful management while upholding the ethical corporate spirit I value. I will also consistently continue studying economic theory and economic trends, always preparing myself as a future business leader. By doing so, I will become a professional manager who contributes to society’s development in the future.

Self-Introduction (Life Philosophy, Values)

There is a famous saying: ‘Boys, be ambitious!’ Some might scoff at my goal of running a good company that contributes to society. This is especially true in times like these, when stable careers like civil service rank as the top career aspiration among youth. However, I find it regrettable to limit one’s potential before even attempting something. If we only tried what we deemed entirely possible, the world would never see new change. I believe that it is precisely by holding onto dreams that seem impossible that one becomes the kind of talent capable of driving change.
My goal is to pursue humane corporate management. In Korea, the image of a corporate executive often evokes greed first and foremost. Their management style is also highly aggressive, not coexistence. Consequently, there are many negative perceptions of corporations. Amidst this current climate, I aspire to become a humane and altruistic corporate leader who contributes to society.
