This blog post introduces how to naturally weave your cross-departmental collaboration experience and communication skills—key assets for quality management roles—into your resume.
Growth Process
“Living independently from an early age.”
I lived independently from high school, starting with living on my own. Attending a science high school, I commuted to a school far from home. The school was quite distant, and the dormitory had a fixed capacity, so I couldn’t get selected for the dorm every semester. Consequently, I lived in a rented room near school and sometimes shared a boarding house with friends, becoming accustomed to living alone.
At first, having only lived at home, I found living with friends or alone unfamiliar and even scary. But once I took the plunge, I realized living alone had its own fun and freedom. Meeting new roommates brought the joy of making new friends, and cooking and managing my own life allowed me to build my own lifestyle. So, living alone improved my cooking skills, helped me develop new hobbies I never had before, and even led me to start exercising regularly. Especially through learning baking as a hobby, my cooking skills improved significantly.
In college, I majored in Chemical Engineering, focusing my studies on the pharmaceutical field. University was also far from home, so I lived on my own again. While living alone, I continued my original hobby of cooking and even obtained a baking technician certification. I also formed a community by hanging out with classmates at home and gathered with club friends to work on research projects or assignments together. This way, from high school through university and now as a working professional, I’ve grown accustomed to living independently on my own.
Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality
“I will demonstrate the power of a hard worker.”
To describe my personality in one phrase, I would say I am someone who always puts in effort. No matter the situation, I first identify the goal, then seek the most efficient way to achieve it. Once I find that method, I work tirelessly and diligently to accomplish the objective. Effort alone, without skill, may not yield efficient results quickly. However, the very act of working hard is perceived positively within an organization. It leaves a good impression on others and positively influences those around me. Therefore, I believe in the positive power that the value of effort brings, and I always strive to put in that effort.
On the other hand, I am very organized. I always keep my work desk clean and tidy, and I make sure to put things back in their proper place. I even start each morning by wiping down my desk before beginning work. Keeping things this organized allows me to focus much better and handle tasks efficiently when working. However, many people fail to practice this very simple habit well. I practice organization to maximize efficiency not only at work but also at home, spending considerable time keeping my house clean and hygienically maintained. Doing this increases the likelihood that I can handle a large volume of leftover work quickly at home.
If there’s a downside, it’s that I tend to live too tidily and place a high priority on hygiene. Some friends have even asked me if I have a cleanliness obsession. Of course, it’s not to the extent of being called a cleanliness obsession or OCD. However, I’ve realized that my habits can sometimes cause discomfort to those around me, so I make a point of clarifying that these are habits I practice for myself. And because it’s a habit for myself, I never force it on others. Even if someone shares the same living space, I don’t point out or demand improvements if they’re less hygienic than me.
Special Skills
“I served as a patrol officer patrolling the local district.”
During my college years, while dating a girlfriend, I learned how dangerous it can be for women walking home alone. This made me feel I should work directly as a safety officer for society, even if just for public security. From then on, I applied to the local patrol station and began volunteering. As a patrol officer, I took responsibility for people’s journeys home. Including myself, many university students served as station officers, and together with my peers, we played a role in protecting the streets around the university.
Patrolling as an officer required only about two hours of my time each evening. I felt there weren’t many activities where investing just two hours allowed me to engage in social work and feel such a strong sense of contributing to society. So, I continued this activity even after graduating from university. Recently, I’ve changed the scope of my activities while patrolling the neighborhood. These days, rather than preventing safety accidents, my role focuses on preventing and monitoring illegal dumping of trash. Illegal dumping on utility poles and streets has become common lately, and by preventing this, I’m directly witnessing significant improvements in local issues.
Reason for Applying
“Consistent Experience Working in the Pharmaceutical Industry”
My motivation for applying to your company’s Quality Control Department stems from my consistent experience working in the pharmaceutical industry since majoring in chemical engineering. I have handled tasks in pharmaceutical production, as well as manufacturing and reagent-related duties. Therefore, I possess sufficient knowledge of applying raw material testing methods and operating equipment essential for production tasks. I believe that individuals performing quality control duties must fundamentally possess thorough information and knowledge about reagent manufacturing. This is because manufacturing and quality control are not entirely separate tasks.
Therefore, based on my existing experience in manufacturing and formulation tasks, I have established a long-term plan to grow as a quality control expert at your company. Regarding quality control duties, at my previous company, I handled them as secondary responsibilities. Since I was not the overall supervisor, I possessed knowledge of procedures and processes but did not hold a position of direct responsibility. Therefore, my motivation for applying to your company is to take on a position where I can assume responsibility and provide overall direction for these tasks. Consistently growing in this field to become a quality control expert is my long-term plan.
Goals After Joining
“I will demonstrate my professional capabilities in the Quality Control Department.”
Quality control work in the pharmaceutical field involves fundamental procedures such as verification tasks, certification tasks, and grading tasks. Since standards for these procedures are already established, obtaining relevant certifications is essential. I have already obtained professional certifications related to quality control. During my preparation for these qualifications, I gained an understanding of the types of exams and collected information on equipment utilization. I will apply this specialized knowledge to perform the relevant tasks professionally. Above all, I will prioritize collaboration and strive to maintain continuous communication with colleagues within the same department.
Teamwork is crucial within the Quality Control Department. While everyone performs the same tasks on an equal footing, their assigned areas or targets often differ. Therefore, it is vital that the person responsible for a specific area and the person responsible for a specific pharmaceutical product collaborate to proceed with the work. If there are significant differences in the work capabilities of the persons in charge of each product and communication between them is poor, it will lead to problems in the final processing of the work. Therefore, I plan to take on the role of a leader who oversees and directs this cooperation and communication. As an experienced employee, I will demonstrate my professional capabilities to lead cooperation among team members and ensure the final deliverables are problem-free.
