This blog post introduces how to effectively incorporate the qualities of a hands-on professional into a production technology resume, focusing on practical experience and on-site adaptability built through a mechanical engineering major.
My Upbringing
I grew up under the guidance of parents who were exceptionally diligent and hardworking. They always emphasized that “the most important thing in life is a sincere attitude,” and this principle naturally became central to my values. My father ran a laundry business in his youth but later returned to school to challenge himself in a new field. He eventually obtained his real estate broker license and started his own real estate brokerage business in his thirties. The greatest strength that enabled my father to walk this new path was none other than his steadfastness and diligence. That passionate approach to life left a deep impression on me as well.
My mother met my father while working as a housing manager. Working in the same industry, their interests and values aligned well, leading to their marriage. For over 30 years since their marriage, they have consistently cherished and respected each other. My memory of my parents is one of them living their daily lives peacefully and sincerely, without a single argument. Watching them, I developed deep respect and naturally wanted to emulate their way of life.
During high school, I attended Meister High School, where I studied technical engineering and plant technology. My father always told me, “Whatever field you choose, whatever work you do, take pride in your work and approach it with sincerity.” His advice became a solid foundation for choosing my career path. My parents never interfered with my career or dreams; they respected my choices. Thanks to this, I was able to determine my own path early on and set my sights on mechanical engineering, leading me to university. There, I diligently completed practical courses related to production technology and passionately explored my major, actively participating in industry-academia collaboration programs.
I have one younger sibling who, influenced by our parents, set the goal of obtaining a real estate broker license and continuing the family business. In contrast, I had a strong desire from an early age to set a clear career path and forge my own way in the field I desired. Therefore, after graduation, I aimed for employment in the production technology field and diligently prepared for my future through systematic preparation and consistent self-management. Even now, I keep the life attitude my parents showed me close to my heart and move forward believing in the value of whatever I do.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Personality
From a young age, I deeply learned the importance of manners from my father. He always emphasized, “If you were born a man, you must become a gentleman who upholds manners,” and this teaching greatly influenced the formation of my character. Naturally, I strive to never lose courtesy and consideration in any situation. As a result, I often receive praise that I am a person whose manners are second nature, without needing to consciously think about them.
My manners manifest in small daily actions. When meeting someone one-on-one, I show thoughtful consideration by pulling out their chair first, or I pay attention to making a good first impression with a firm handshake and polite greeting. During conversations, I use titles accurately and express myself carefully so that sincerity comes through in every word. At meals, I have the habit of attending to others’ needs first or proactively offering consideration if someone seems uncomfortable. This manner naturally extends to my kindness, which frequently manifests in daily life.
When a stranger asks for directions while walking, I often accompany them to the station rather than just pointing the way. In this way, I strive to reduce someone’s discomfort and smooth out situations. This aspect of my personality was particularly evident during my military service. While serving as an active-duty soldier, I was known as the ‘kind senior’. While seniors typically adopt a somewhat strict and commanding attitude, I made a conscious effort to give instructions and lead with warmth, never losing my manners. This approach not only suited my personality well, but more importantly, it stemmed from my personal pride in maintaining a life stance of showing courtesy to everyone, regardless of age, rank, or situation.
Thanks to this attitude, I’ve maintained steady contact and good relationships with my juniors even after my military service ended. In daily life, I rarely experience conflicts or unnecessary friction. I try not to create situations that might inconvenience or hurt someone in the first place. If something like that happens by mistake, I make a point of apologizing politely first. This habit of always maintaining good manners is deeply ingrained, and it greatly helps me maintain harmonious relationships with those around me.
School Days
“Efforts to Build Job-Hunting Credentials”
I majored in mechanical engineering in college. When deciding to pursue engineering, my top priorities were employment prospects and access to information leading to quality jobs. That’s why I chose a Seoul-based university, offering broader opportunities and active information exchange. I consistently worked to gain valuable job-hunting insights through interactions with peers and seniors. It’s no exaggeration to say that connections and information significantly influence the job market. In today’s environment, where jobs are limited and job seekers are numerous, securing accurate and practical information is essential just to gain the chance to compete. Recognizing this reality, I systematically built my credentials throughout university to enhance my competitiveness in the job market. I fundamentally believed that having my credentials prepared was essential to enabling diverse challenges.
Above all, I remained dedicated to my major studies and meticulously managed my GPA. As job competition intensified, achieving high grades became a crucial competitive factor. To this end, I gave my utmost effort to every subject. I strategically prepared by thoroughly analyzing exam-related information and major textbooks, while also considering the weight of assignments and evaluation methods. I also made a conscious effort to actively incorporate content from reference books into assignments and reports. This consistent study approach allowed me to maintain high grades, which in turn provided me with the time and mental stability to focus on subsequent job entrance exams.
I also pursued practical preparations for employment. I invested significant time preparing for personality and aptitude tests, collectively known as ‘personality and aptitude assessments’. Since these tests were essential not only for large corporations but also for employment at public corporations and industrial complexes, I studied both theory and problem-solving simultaneously through online lectures, supplementing any gaps through study groups. For subjects where collaborative learning was effective, I formed job-hunting study groups with peers and studied consistently. For subjects I could focus on well alone, I practiced daily learning in the form of a ‘daily study routine’. By flexibly combining independent study with collaborative learning, I achieved a more systematic and efficient job preparation process.
Looking back, my university years weren’t just about learning my major. They were a process of taking steps to prepare for the future and build my competitiveness. To make that time meaningful, I always set clear goals and gave my best effort within the given circumstances. I believe those efforts shaped who I am today, and I intend to maintain that attitude of consistently preparing and challenging myself toward any goal.
Work Experience
“Experience working as a fixed-term employee at Doosan Mecatec”
I am applying to your company based on my internship experience at Doosan Mecatec. During my senior year of university, I participated in an industry-academia cooperation program and worked as a fixed-term intern at Doosan Mecatec for approximately 10 months. This was a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of production technology. Although I was an assistant rather than a full-time employee at the time, collaborating with various departments and experiencing the full scope of operations laid the foundation for my career.
I was assigned to the CPE Manufacturing Team. Through collaboration with other departments, such as the Steel Bridge Manufacturing Team and the Management Support Team, I gained a deep understanding of the organic communication methods and information exchange flow within the organization. This experience particularly highlighted the importance of communication skills for collaboration and the ability to coordinate between tasks. I had already acquired the basic technical skills related to CPE production while preparing for my welding technician certification, which allowed me to understand and adapt to on-site work relatively quickly. Furthermore, thanks to the active mentoring from my seniors, I was able to build a broad understanding of the production process and management tasks.
During my internship, I made an effort to broaden my practical capabilities by experiencing the work of various teams, rather than staying confined to just one department. For about half of my 10-month internship, I focused on welding-related tasks. The remaining period involved observing or partially participating in other departments’ work, allowing me to experience production, management, and collaboration processes comprehensively. Senior colleagues provided detailed explanations of forming processes using presses and bending rollers, and kindly shared technical details related to steel bridge fabrication. Furthermore, I was given opportunities to directly experience practical work like plant operations, steel bridge construction sites, and handling excavators. Through this process, I wasn’t just performing tasks; I could explore what kind of work suited me best, which was immensely helpful.
As an intern rather than a full-time employee at the time, I enjoyed relative freedom to gain diverse experiences, making it a valuable period for assessing my aptitudes and capabilities. Beyond merely executing technical tasks, I directly learned on-site that various roles were required—such as English speaking skills, material management, forklift operation, and collaboration with internal and external factory managers—which broadened my perspective on the work. Thus, my internship experience at Doosan Mecatec was a crucial period that fostered my growth in multiple areas—collaboration, communication, aptitude exploration, and skill acquisition—beyond mere task execution. It also serves as a strong foundation for my current pursuit of building expertise in the production technology field.

I majored in mechanical engineering in college and consistently worked to develop expertise in related fields. After graduation, I continued systematic preparation with the goal of joining Doosan Mecatec. A key reason I specifically targeted this company was because a close senior currently works at Doosan Mecatec. This senior strongly recommended Doosan Mecatec as a company where our major can be effectively applied in practice, often expressing pride and affection for the company. I deeply resonated with my senior’s advice and began seriously considering a career at Doosan Mecatec.
Since then, I have prepared meticulously for each stage—from the document screening to the aptitude test and interviews—striving to be a well-rounded candidate. I have now submitted my initial application documents and am fully prepared for the aptitude test. Furthermore, to prepare for interviews, I have consistently participated in study groups simulating interviews with both operational staff and executives. I have also undergone various mock interviews to sharpen my practical skills. Through this process, I am confident that I am evolving not merely into an applicant aiming for employment, but into a ‘prepared talent’ who can genuinely contribute to the company.
After joining, I will quickly adapt to practical work based on the technical capabilities I have built since my university days and transform into a talent possessing expertise and responsibility exceeding the level required in the field. Furthermore, I will organically utilize relevant connections and networks, including senior colleagues, to facilitate smooth communication both within and outside the organization and contribute to strengthening teamwork. Maintaining an attitude of constant learning and preparation, I will establish myself as an engineer who provides tangible support to Doosan Mecatec’s growth.
