Congratulating a Friend’s Wedding
Hello, everyone.
On a warm and beautiful day like today, I sincerely thank everyone gathered here to celebrate the fruit of a precious bond. I am a friend of the couple, groom ○○○ and bride ○○○, whom I’ve known for ten years. As a friend who has been with them through the long journey from the moment they first met and fell in love at the tender age of twenty—still a bit clumsy but pure—to this very day, I feel an indescribable emotion delivering this congratulatory speech at their precious wedding.
In the early days of their relationship, when I was the only single one, their affectionate displays sometimes felt a bit annoying. I’d jokingly complain, “Please tone it down a bit,” at their overly(?) sweet expressions of love, but deep down, I found their closeness truly heartwarming. Through all their bickering and teasing, they cherished and loved each other. For over a decade, they stood steadfastly by each other’s side, and today, they’ve finally completed their long love story with this beautiful wedding. The stories they’ve built together over this long journey, filled with laughter and tears, are, above all, proof of their unshakable love.
Being asked to give a toast at their wedding is an incredibly special gift for me too. It’s also a precious chance to share feelings I’d never dare express otherwise. Of course, having never been married myself, I can’t offer advice as a “wedding veteran.” But as a friend who’s watched their journey up close, there’s something I must say, so I’ll take this opportunity to share a few words.
You may remember a few years back when you two had a huge fight and drifted apart for a while. Back then, you exchanged such intense emotions, as if you never wanted to see each other again for the rest of your lives. You each came to me almost daily, pouring out your hearts. The groom said, “I absolutely can’t live without that person,” and the bride tearfully declared, “Life without that person has no meaning.” I still vividly remember those moments. There’s one thing I said to you both then.
“Do you want to protect the person you love? Or do you want to protect that petty pride?”
Without hesitation, they both answered that each other was far more precious than pride. And in the end, they took each other’s hands again, and that choice led to this wedding today. That moment was also when I became certain their love was real.
As you journey through life together, unexpected moments will surely come. There will be days so difficult you might want to give up everything. But in those moments, please don’t forget the feelings you share standing here today. Hold onto that desperate longing that said you couldn’t live without each other, and that resolve to choose to be together, for a long, long time.
May you become a couple who understands and cares for each other even more than you do now, overcoming challenges together. I sincerely hope you become a wonderful couple whose daily lives are filled with warm laughter, sharing a love that grows stronger with time. Seeing the two of you, who were once a ‘couple who couldn’t live without each other,’ now become a ‘husband and wife who can’t live without each other,’ walking side by side through life together, is both deeply anticipated and overwhelmingly moving.
Now, I will conclude my toast for my dear friends, Mr. ○○○ and Ms. ○○○. Once again, I extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has filled this occasion with warmth. I sincerely wish that happiness and love always fill the couple’s future.
Thank you.
Family Representative Wedding Speech
Hello, everyone.
I sincerely thank each and every one of you for taking precious time to join us today to celebrate the wedding of groom ○○○ and bride ○○○. On behalf of the family, I bow my head in deep gratitude to each of you who have come to witness and bless their new beginning.
The youngest, who once sat in Mom’s arms with chubby cheeks and red suspenders, has now blossomed into a mature young lady, standing here today as a radiant October bride. Watching this child who always felt so young stand at the starting line of a new life with her beloved Mr. ○○○, as the sister who watched her grow up closest, this moment is simply overwhelming and joyful. I cannot contain the overwhelming emotion and happiness welling up from deep within my heart.
Born as the youngest of one brother and three sisters, our ○○○ grew up in a blessed home, showered with love from the entire family. With the charm and cuteness befitting the youngest, she filled our home with laughter. Her warm heart, caring for her nieces and nephews more tenderly than anyone, was a great comfort to all of us. Sometimes, with a heart even broader than my own as the eldest sister, she took care of the family, guided the household atmosphere toward harmony, and became its center. It still feels unbelievable that my sister, who always seemed like she’d be by my side forever, is now a wife building a new family of her own. Yet, all these changes fill me with nothing but joy and gratitude.
Above all, what gives me the greatest peace is knowing that ○○○, now my brother-in-law, is by her side. Watching him nurture his love for our youngest sister with warm regard, consideration, and respect, I feel certain she has found someone truly precious to share her life with. As her sister, I express my deepest trust and gratitude to ○○○, who will be her most dependable companion and supporter.
Buddhism describes fate like this: Imagine placing a single needle upright on flat ground and dropping a single grain of millet from the sky. The probability of that millet grain landing precisely on the tip of the needle is how rare and precious fate truly is. Today marks the culmination of such a miraculous karmic bond. Your meeting transcends a simple union of two individuals; it is also a meaningful starting point where two distinct families become connected by one profound karmic thread. I hope both of you will cherish the meaning of this beautiful karmic bond in your hearts for a long time to come.
First, I ask my beloved brother-in-law, ○○○. Just as you have always done, please continue to warmly embrace our ○○○ and walk alongside her with deep love. She may appear strong on the outside, but inside, she possesses a heart more tender and delicate than anyone else’s. Rather than clinging to the old stereotype that ‘a man must be strong,’ I hope you will lead your family gently and warmly, guided by the belief that ‘because you are strong, you can understand and protect the one you love more deeply.’ I believe that such a heart is the true strength that firmly sustains a family.
And I also have words I wish to share with my beloved sister ○○○. Now, as the head of a household, your husband has taken on the responsibility of enduring fierce competition and battles in this harsh world. The reason the world is frightening and treacherous is because every head of a household fights with all their might to protect their beloved family. For such a husband, the strongest ally is none other than you, his wife. As a wise and warm wife, I hope the home where your husband returns after each day’s battle will always be a peaceful sanctuary. If you support each other with faith and love as you walk together, you will surely overcome any trials that come your way.
There is no single right answer for love and marriage. But among the countless life lessons this newlywed couple must tackle together, if they respect and understand each other, aligning their hearts, they will gradually find their own unique answers within those challenges. I offer heartfelt applause for the courage and love of these two souls who, through a miraculous connection, have chosen to share their hearts and build a life together. And I am deeply grateful to be a witness to this love, sharing in this precious moment.
The best day of your life has yet to come. Today is merely the beginning. The days ahead that the groom and bride will share together will be filled with days that become the best days of their lives. I sincerely wish that only days filled with unending laughter and deepening love will follow.
Once again, I extend my gratitude to everyone who has joined us here today. On behalf of the family, I will conclude my remarks. Thank you sincerely.
Family Representative’s Thank You Speech at Brother’s Wedding
Hello, everyone.
On this beautiful day, as the cold winter passes and the warm breath of spring is fully upon us, I sincerely thank you for joining us at the wedding of two people becoming one through love. Just like this clear and sunny moment today, I wish that the couple’s future will always be warm and brightly shining.
I am ○○○, the older brother and twin brother of today’s groom, ○○○. As the brother born three minutes before him, as a senior in life and a senior in marriage, and above all, as the family representative, it is deeply moving to address you at this meaningful occasion.
Standing here naturally brings back memories of my own wedding years ago. That day was the most thrilling and happiest day of my life. The feeling of my heart swelling just from the thought of waking up together in the same home with the person I loved is something I still cannot forget. However, as time passes and you share daily life together, you also realize it’s not easy to frequently recall that overwhelming emotion from the wedding day. Disagreements arise over the smallest things, hurt feelings lead to arguments, and sometimes a carelessly spoken word can leave a deep wound in each other’s hearts. No matter how much we laugh and make up afterward, once a wound is made, it doesn’t easily fade and can leave a trace in the heart.
That’s why I have something I absolutely want to tell my sister ○○○, who is getting married today. Because you love someone, you become more sensitive and clash more often. Disagreements are natural. What matters is that there’s something you must never forget in those moments. No matter how angry you get, you must never say words that will linger in each other’s hearts. Words spoken in the heat of emotion that hurt the other person won’t fade with time; they can weigh heavily on the heart for years to come. I hope you remember that there is always a line to be respected between spouses.
The groom and bride have lived for over twenty years in completely different environments, each in their own way. Therefore, it is only natural that their thoughts and habits differ. It is necessary to accept that they are “different,” not “wrong.” And above all, it is crucial to understand and respect those differences, making an effort to accommodate each other. I believe this is the starting point of the journey called marriage and the attitude two people who will spend their lives together must possess.
This is never solely the groom’s responsibility. The bride shares this equally. A married couple are not beings who change each other, but companions who grow together and complete each other. Accepting each other’s differences as they are, embracing them, and living with them—isn’t that the true meaning of being a married couple?
I hope you remember this precious moment for a long time. I hope you never forget the excitement and overwhelming joy you feel right now in this wedding hall, nor the love and promises you’ve exchanged. I, too, plan to capture today’s moving scenes on video and present them to you as a gift. Even if time dulls your feelings for each other someday, I hope you can watch that video together and recall the heart you had today. Once a week, or even once a month is fine. Bring today back to mind often. Each time you do, the feelings you had when you first fell in love will come alive again.
Once again, I sincerely wish your future together be filled with love and happiness. And I extend my deepest gratitude to all the guests who have joined us for this meaningful occasion.
Thank you.
A Mother of the Groom’s Thank You Speech at the Wedding
Hello. I am the mother of today’s star, the groom, ○○○.
To all the relatives and family members who took the time to honor us with your presence despite your busy schedules, and to the precious friends and colleagues of the bride and groom, I offer my heartfelt and deepest gratitude.
With weddings tending to be simpler and quicker these days, there’s truly little time to personally thank each guest individually. I am sincerely grateful for this brief opportunity to address you all through the microphone.
Today, as a mother, my heart is full and my emotions run deep. It feels like just yesterday that child was born, yet here she is, fulfilling her responsibilities as a member of society, having found her life partner, and now celebrating her wedding amidst the blessings of so many. As parents, we are filled with nothing but gratitude and pride. The years spent raising her, worrying about her, praying for her, all flash before my eyes, and I feel a sense of relief that this major milestone has been successfully reached.
Though the bride and groom will greet you shortly, before that, I’d like to briefly boast about my daughter-in-law. From the very first moment, she was a truly warm and lovely young woman. Watching her closely during their long courtship, I came to know her as someone who respects elders and attentively cares for those around her. She has a deep heart, a gentle disposition, and above all, she radiates a bright, positive energy. I have no doubt she will be not only a wonderful wife but also an excellent mother.
I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to our in-laws for sending such a beautiful and precious daughter to be with our son. We hope you, our in-laws, will think of our son as another son of your own and watch over him with warm love and care from now on. We also hope that, rather than maintaining excessive formality simply because we are in-laws, we can open our hearts to each other, become comfortable companions, and continue our warm relationship.
Today, here, our two children have promised to spend their lives together. Life may bring unexpected hardships, but I believe they will navigate them wisely, trusting and relying on each other. While our time as parents watching over them is limited, there is no greater strength than your warm encouragement and blessings for their future.
Now, stepping out from under their parents’ protection, they must become each other’s steadfast support. Building a family is not simply the act of marriage; it is taking on new responsibilities in life. Just as we did, and as all the senior couples present here have done, I believe the two of them will cultivate a happy home through understanding and respecting each other, sometimes yielding, sometimes conceding, with wisdom. As the saying goes, ‘When the family is harmonious, all things go well.’ May your hearts always be filled with consideration and affection for each other.
Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude once again to all the guests who have joined us today to celebrate this new beginning for our two children. If there were any shortcomings during the reception or meal, I kindly ask for your generous understanding. I hope you will continue to enjoy the rest of your time here comfortably and happily.
Thank you very much.
Groom’s Mother’s Thank You Speech at the Wedding
Hello. I am the mother of today’s groom, Mr. ○○○.
First, I sincerely thank all the relatives, family members, and the groom and bride’s dear friends and colleagues who took precious time out of your busy schedules to grace this occasion with your presence.
As today’s ceremony proceeds without an officiant, I, as his mother, have taken the liberty of offering these words of thanks. Standing here now as a mother to a child and as someone’s mother-in-law, my heart is filled with a multitude of emotions. Seeing my son, who has grown into a reliable adult, dressed in a tuxedo and standing beside the partner he will share his life with, brings back memories of the past like a galloping horse. Watching this scene unfold—my once small and fragile child now grown, establishing his own family—is truly overwhelming and deeply moving.
Though the bride and groom will address you shortly, I’d like to take a moment to share a little about our daughter-in-law. Our daughter-in-law is a truly lovely child, kind-hearted and beautiful. Her warm and cheerful disposition is so genuine that the phrase “she’s become a fine person” feels inadequate. Living with her, one naturally understands why it’s impossible not to love her. We sincerely thank and express our deepest respect to our in-laws for raising such a wonderful child with such devotion and love.
Thank you once again for sending your precious daughter to our family. From now on, we will cherish and love our daughter-in-law, living as one family to repay that kindness. Please consider that as of today, you have gained a dependable son, and we hope you will embrace our son with warm hearts.
Truthfully, I’ve long cherished the wish to raise a daughter. Now, having gained such a loving and affectionate daughter, I am filled with immense joy and excitement. Though both my husband and I are not very good at expressing ourselves and haven’t fully conveyed our feelings yet, I want to make sure you know we truly cherish and love our daughter-in-law. We hope our relationship will deepen into a warm bond where we laugh together, share stories, and exchange sincerity.
Today, in this place, before many people and before your parents, you two promised to become each other’s companions. Now, as a true married couple, you begin the journey of walking through life together. As you live, there will be difficult days, and moments of unexpected conflict or misunderstanding. But whenever that happens, I hope you will remember the heartfelt promise you made today. I believe the trembling excitement, the deep emotion, the love, and the gratitude felt in this very moment will be a great source of strength for the days ahead.
I have no doubt that these two children will cherish and respect each other, growing together throughout their lives. Even when life’s challenges come, I am certain they will hold hands, overcome them steadfastly, and move forward toward a relationship that grows stronger and deeper. I wish health and happiness always accompany these children’s future, and I ask all of you gathered here to join us with your warm support, encouragement, and prayers.
Finally, I extend my deepest gratitude once more to everyone who has graced us with your presence on this beautiful and precious day to celebrate the groom and bride’s new beginning. May they walk together on a bright and warm path, surrounded by your blessings. Please continue to watch over them with warm eyes and cheer them on.
Thank you.
Groom’s Mother’s Thank You Speech
Hello. I am the mother of the groom, ○○○, who is getting married today.
First, I would like to express my sincere and deepest gratitude to all the relatives, family members, and the groom and bride’s dear friends and colleagues who have taken the time out of your busy schedules to come celebrate this special occasion with us.
As today’s ceremony for my son is being conducted without an officiant, I, though inadequate, have taken the liberty of delivering these remarks. As a mother to a child, and now as someone who is becoming a mother-in-law, my feelings are particularly profound, and my heart is filled with a deep, lump-in-my-throat emotion. Seeing my son, now an adult, standing tall in his tuxedo beside his lifelong partner, brings back every moment we shared since he was a newborn, filling my heart to overflowing. Watching my child grow into such a wonderful person and build a new family today makes this long journey feel truly moving.
Though the bride and groom will greet you shortly, I’d like to take a moment to boast a little about our lovely daughter-in-law. She is such a kind, gentle, polite, and warm-hearted person. Her upright and cheerful nature makes the phrase “she’s become a proper person” feel almost redundant; spending time with her, you naturally understand why one cannot help but love her. We consider it a great fortune to welcome such a wonderfully raised daughter into our family as our daughter-in-law. We sincerely express our deepest gratitude to her parents for raising her so well.
Thank you for sending your precious daughter to become part of our family. We sincerely hope that from now on, as one family, we can share joys and sorrows together and warmly embrace each other. We also hope you, our in-laws, will consider today as the day you gained a trustworthy son, and we ask that you cherish our son as if he were your own.
Truthfully, I’ve always harbored a small wish to raise a daughter. Now that this wish has come true, and I have such a lovely and affectionate daughter, I am simply filled with immense joy and gratitude. Though we’re not the most expressive couple and haven’t fully shown our hearts yet, I want you to know we truly cherish and love our daughter-in-law. We earnestly hope you’ll continue sharing your hearts, laughing together, and building a warm relationship filled with conversation.
Today, before many guests and their parents, the two of them pledged to spend their lives together. Now begins the time for them to live together as a true couple, relying on and embracing each other. Of course, life ahead won’t be filled only with joy; there will be difficult moments, and small misunderstandings or conflicts may arise. Whenever that happens, I hope they will remember the excitement and trembling of this moment, the overwhelming emotion and love. I believe these feelings will be a great pillar supporting them as they navigate life together.
I have no doubt that these two children will cherish and respect each other sincerely, growing together. Even when life’s great waves crash upon them, I hope they will hold hands, overcome them together, and emerge as an even stronger couple. May health and happiness always fill these children’s future. I would also be grateful if all of you gathered here today would send your warm encouragement and prayers for their journey ahead.
Finally, I extend my deepest gratitude once more to everyone who has graced us with your presence today to make this beautiful day even more special. I ask that you continue to watch over them and send your warm support, so that they may walk together on a bright and warm path, surrounded by your blessings. Thank you sincerely.
Wedding Friend’s Thank You Speech
Hello, everyone.
Today marks a truly meaningful and moving moment as a beautiful bride and groom announce the start of a new chapter in their lives. I sincerely thank everyone for joining us at this precious occasion.
I am ○○○, a 20-year friend of the bride, ○○○. Perhaps because she is the first among our friends to marry, I feel both joy and an inexplicable wave of emotion welling up inside me. Normally, I wouldn’t dare utter such embarrassing words, but today, I gather my courage to share what’s truly in my heart.
I first met the bride, ○○○, back in kindergarten, when we were just little kids with runny noses. Even then, she was quite the character. A tomboy, bursting with energy, and full of curiosity about everything in the world. Seeing her stand here today, looking so radiant, somehow makes my throat tighten and my heart ache.
Truthfully, ○○○ always appears bright and confident, but she possesses a heart more tender and delicate than anyone else’s. She has a loud voice and natural leadership, making her seem capable of tackling anything boldly. Yet inside, she carries many worries and is somehow awkward at expressing her feelings in words. I take pride in having been the one by her side all this time, sharing life’s little moments and listening to her innermost thoughts. Now, knowing that role will be fully handed over to her groom, I feel joy mixed with a subtle, inexplicable sense of regret.
My dear friend ○○○. It’s hard to believe we’ve shared twenty years together. Seeing you today, dressed so beautifully in your pure white gown, brought back every single moment we laughed and cried together. My throat tightened and tears welled up. Though I worried more for you, being the first among our friends to marry, your expression today was the brightest and happiest I’ve seen in all these 20 years. It warmed my heart and made me feel so secure.
I hope you continue to respect and cherish each other as you do now, building a bright and warm home together. And I must say this to the groom: Our ○○○ has a heart warmer and deeper than anyone’s, but she’s not very good at expressing it. She might seem frustrating at times because she doesn’t show her true feelings easily. Please tenderly understand your friend’s heart and always embrace her warmly. This is my earnest request as a friend.
Once again, I sincerely congratulate both of you on your marriage and pray wholeheartedly that your future together will always be filled with love and happiness. I also extend my gratitude to everyone who has joined us here today, and I hope this moment remains a beautiful memory cherished for years to come.
Thank you.
Family Representative’s Thank You Speech at Daughter’s Wedding
Ladies and gentlemen, hello.
Despite the sweltering heat, I sincerely thank each of you for blessing the bride and groom’s new beginning and for taking the time to witness this precious moment.
When my daughter and son-in-law first told me they would have a wedding without an officiant, I was honestly quite taken aback. Even though times have changed significantly, it was still an unfamiliar format to me. But upon reflection, I realized this occasion offered me a chance to express feelings I hadn’t conveyed to my daughter before, so I gladly accepted.
People often use the term “doting dad” these days, but I never considered myself one. While I always cherished and loved her in my heart, I was Perhaps I belonged to a slightly different generation than fathers today. Despite this, I often heard people call me a “hopeless dad who only knows his daughter.” My worries often led me to be somewhat strict in raising her, and I sometimes feel a twinge of sadness, wondering if that might have made her feel hurt. But I hope she can understand now, at least a little, that all of that was just my way of wanting to protect and keep her safe.
My daughter, who was always within my protective circle, is now starting her own family and beginning a new life with her husband, her new circle. At this moment, my heart is filled with mixed emotions—congratulations mingled with worry and regret. I imagine many fathers feel much the same. I want to celebrate, yet the fact that I must now let go of my daughter’s hand still feels unfamiliar and leaves my heart heavy.
Nevertheless, seeing my daughter’s face beaming with such a bright smile today, how could I possibly hold on to her hand forever? Watching my daughter, who always seemed like a little child, now standing as someone’s wife and a proper adult, I finally realize it. Memories flood back of worrying, “She’s still just a child,” on every milestone: her first day of college, graduation day, the moment she started her first job. Yet seeing her stand here today, so confident and poised, I realize this is truly her first step as an adult.
Now that she has found a reliable husband to lean on and build a life together, I believe she will grow into a deeper, more mature adult through life’s joys and challenges, big and small. Watching our child’s life unfold is a journey more fascinating and moving than any movie or drama in the world. Because we didn’t just observe that story; sometimes, we wrote it together as co-authors. But now, the time has come to quietly step back from that perspective and retreat to the role of an observer, watching with warm eyes from a step behind.
My beloved daughter, ○○○.
I sincerely hope days as happy as today continue for you. Of course, unexpected difficulties will come your way as you live your life, but I believe you will overcome them well. And please never forget that behind you, there are always your mom and dad, cheering you on without fail. At any moment in life, we are on your side, and we will always be there as a fence to give you strength.
We sincerely congratulate our beloved daughter on her marriage.
Finally, we would like to express our deepest gratitude once again to everyone who has honored us with your presence and blessings today.
Thank you.
Wedding Speech Example – Heartfelt Gratitude from the Bride’s Friend
Hello, everyone.
I sincerely thank all of you who have gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of the groom, Mr. ○○○, and the bride, Ms. ○○○. I am ○○○, a longtime friend of the bride.
Truthfully, I was quite flustered when asked to give a speech as a wedding gift. I knew that conveying feelings through words is harder than it seems and requires great care. But as her closest friend, I pondered what the most heartfelt gift I could give might be. Hearing her request, I thought, ‘Yes, there couldn’t be a more meaningful gift than this.’ First, I want to thank the bride for giving me this chance to share what I’ve held in my heart for so long.
The saying that time flies feels especially poignant on a day like today. It seems like just yesterday when I sent you out of the classroom during a middle school student council meeting for talking too much. Seeing you now, dressed in such a beautiful gown and smiling so brightly, makes it feel like time has slipped away like a joke.
The bride is a very special friend to me. The time we shared is more than just precious memories. We both grew up as only daughters in loving homes, sharing a time of unshakable confidence. Back then, we were like mirrors to each other. Simply being able to witness my friend’s important life moments from close by was joy enough, and because we shared all that time together, this occasion today feels especially meaningful to me.
When the bride told me she’d decided to marry, I asked cautiously, “What made you decide to get married?” Without hesitation, she gave a simple yet confident answer: “Ah, this is the one.” She said it was that one feeling rising from deep within her heart. Hearing that, I knew I had to wholeheartedly celebrate this marriage. Without any worries, only with joy.
○○, you’re like a reference book for my life. Being with you has helped me see life more positively, and I’m truly grateful you’ve always been by my side, bringing only good influences. I’ve often told you how beautiful you are. But today, you’re even more beautiful than usual—beyond words. The man beside you seems to make you shine even brighter and happier, and seeing that fills me with such joy and pride.
You’ve always lived with firm conviction and positive faith, so your life with him will surely be warm and happy. So let me tell you, your husband really hit the jackpot. He got to meet and be with someone as wonderful as you. I’m jealous, but I’ll gladly admit it!
Now you’ve opened a new chapter in your life as someone’s wife. My dearest friend ○○, whom I cherish more than anyone, I sincerely wish you happiness. I will always be cheering for you and watching over you. So, you must show me plenty of how you live as a wonderful wife and a happy person. Got it?
Finally, I congratulate you once again on your marriage with all my heart. I will remember today for a long time and sincerely cheer for your tomorrows unfolding ahead. Thank you, and I love you.
A Father’s Words of Gratitude on His Daughter’s Wedding Day
Hello, everyone.
In this beautiful season when vibrant green deepens, I sincerely thank all of you for taking the time to bless the groom and bride’s new beginning and to be steadfast witnesses in their lives.
Today will be a day I will never forget in my life.
For it is the day my daughter, who grew up in my arms and lived within my protection, now departs for a new life. Alongside my joy and pride, deep emotion and a sense of emptiness also come.
My wife is quite a rational person. She takes great pride in our daughter finding a reliable and dependable partner to build a family with at just the right time, and in fact, she seems eager to send her off to her new home.
But a father’s heart isn’t so simple. Letting go feels so bittersweet, and why is it so hard to let her go?
Because she was a daughter we had late in life, we cherished her more and raised her with extra tenderness. That’s how deep my affection is, and how much more I’ve poured my heart into her. Perhaps that’s why, in this very moment, I honestly feel as if my daughter is being ‘taken away’ by her husband. It might sound like a joke, but I believe many of you here today can relate.
Yet my daughter stands here now, her face brighter and happier than ever before.
It’s a smile I’ve never seen before—not when she got into her dream university, not when she landed her dream job, not even when she received a long-awaited gift.
That’s why my heart aches yet feels warm, and though it’s bittersweet, I can gladly let her go. It feels a little wasteful, but what father standing here could possibly hold onto his daughter and throw a tantrum?
Of course, sending her off to marriage brings many worries. Did I raise her too carelessly? Will she make mistakes at her in-laws’? Will she treat her husband well and be loved in return?—Endless thoughts like these flood my mind.
If my daughter were to hear me speak today, she might laugh and grumble that I’m just “nagging” again. Still, just for today, I hope she’ll listen with an open heart.
Fortunately, seeing my son-in-law puts my mind at ease.
He is a dependable and trustworthy person. I believe he will protect my daughter well, no matter what difficulties come their way. No, I am absolutely certain he will do so.
Even if there are shortcomings, I hope they won’t blame each other, but instead fill each other’s gaps and grow together.
I believe a married couple isn’t two perfect beings who meet, but two people who acknowledge their shortcomings and adjust to each other as they live their lives.
With this same heart today, I sincerely hope they will continue to cherish and love each other deeply, building a warm and beautiful home together, just the two of them.
Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude once again to everyone who has joined us here today.
May blessings always accompany the couple’s future, and may health and peace always fill the homes of all of you who have honored this occasion with your presence.
Thank you sincerely.
Sample Wedding MC Thank You Speech
Hello, everyone.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you who have joined us here today.
I am deeply grateful for the warm hearts of everyone who took precious time to come celebrate the marriage of groom ○○○ and bride ○○○.
I have a very special friend.
A friend I could visit quietly after dinner with just a casual “Let’s grab a cup of tea,” without any pressure. A friend who welcomed me without hesitation, no matter how casually I was dressed or if my clothes carried the scent of kimchi. A warm presence who was always there for me, whether on a rainy afternoon or a snowy night, someone I could visit on a whim, without needing a special reason.
I still vividly remember high school days spent sharing poetry and counting stars through the night with that friend. We understood each other deeply and shared our youth together. Miss ○○○ is that kind of person to me. And today, that friend stands at a new starting line in life.
From now on, her husband, Mr. ○○○, will be her steadfast companion, walking the path ahead together. That’s why I feel a deep sense of relief. Because I believe that someone will now truly cherish and love this precious friend I’ve watched and been with for so long.
Groom ○○○, I hope you will continue to care for my friend ○○○ with the same warm heart you always have, and always embrace her with love. She may seem strong on the outside, but she actually has a tender and delicate heart. Bride ○○○, I also hope you become a wise and warm wife, building a beautiful and happy home together with Groom ○○○.
There is one poem I absolutely must share here today. It is a poem I have cherished in my heart for a long time, one I have always wanted to give to a friend getting married.
“Do you have such a person?
When the whole world abandons me and my heart feels lonely,
Do you have that person whose heart you can trust, who says, ‘That heart is mine’?
When the ship you were on is sinking, as you pass the life raft back and forth,
Do you have that person who would say, ‘Please, just you must survive’?
At the unexpected execution ground, who would say, ‘Let me live for the light of your world,
even if all others die’? Do you have such a person?
When leaving this unforgettable world behind,
who would smile faintly and close their eyes, saying, ‘Because I have you’? Do you have such a person?”
May you both become such a presence for each other, as in this poem. On life’s long journey, even when facing rough waves, may you trust and lean on each other, becoming a warm sanctuary where you can always return with peace of mind.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who shares this beautiful moment with us today.
I sincerely wish that the future of the groom, Mr. ○○○, and the bride, Ms. ○○○, will always be filled with love and happiness.
Thank you.
