How to Write an ICT New Graduate Resume

This blog post introduces effective resume writing tips for new graduates taking their first steps into the ICT field.

Growth Process

From a young age, I was quick to understand new things, possessed a voracious curiosity, and was flexible in my approach. Compared to my family, which maintained a somewhat strict household based on the principle that ‘people are better off living as they’ve always lived’—from my parents to my older sister—I was a child who stood out a bit. While a computer was brought into our home for my sister’s studies as computer-based education became commonplace, I differed from other family members who rarely used it. I had many things I wanted to enjoy freely: playing games with friends online, swimming through the vast ocean of the internet, and more. This likely stemmed from my somewhat lower physical stamina compared to other children during my childhood. While other family members were the type to go hiking every weekend, preferring to roam outside and devote themselves to sports club activities rather than staying home, I was the opposite. I preferred staying home, absorbing and enjoying the diverse information I couldn’t experience firsthand.
My father regretted that I had a passive personality, always staying home. However, since I was physically frail from a young age and received special consideration from my family, I was able to freely develop and pursue my somewhat unusual interests within the household. Whenever my parents or sister actually went out to the sports field to enjoy activities like tennis or bowling, I showed the opposite side by spending my time at home playing tennis and bowling games. Seeing my sister’s robust health, which was incomparable to mine, sometimes made me regret my own physical limitations. Yet, I was also fired up by the thought that I too possessed my own unique weapons and special skills, and that I needed to discover them.

School Life

Being able to get most of the latest gadgets that kids were interested in, like computers or game consoles, faster than anyone else, I naturally became the envy of my friends. My father disapproved of this spending pattern, which gave him more reasons each day to keep me at home. But I persuaded him that, “Just as Mom, Dad, and my sister engage in vigorous outdoor activities, I too want devices that stimulate vigorous brain activity.” This allowed me to gradually fill my room. To prove that argument wasn’t entirely wrong, unlike my sister who leaned toward athletics, I excelled in studies. I often brought home report cards that made my parents proud in areas beyond physical strength. Since I had nothing to be proud of physically, I was determined to overcome this mentally. I always strove to build a foundation that would support my self-esteem.
I didn’t just use the infrastructure I’d built up for purely recreational purposes; I worked hard to pursue areas where I could gain an edge. Even when playing a single game, I would obsessively study strategies to set overwhelming records within the community. I also acquired extensive knowledge in programming and computer-related fields. Through such dedicated practice, I reached a level where my family, who were complete novices in those areas, called me a ‘computer expert’. My efforts ensured that the time I spent sitting in my room wasn’t seen as merely wasteful or worthless. They earned my father’s recognition, providing the foundation for him to acknowledge me as a commendable son, “just with a different area of expertise.” This became a significant source of pride for me, someone who always felt inferior in physical strength.

Personality Introduction

I possess a character that refuses to succumb to my shortcomings or limitations, instead seeking out my strengths to overcome them and establish self-esteem. This stems from the understanding that everyone has their own traits and strengths and weaknesses; no human can be perfect in every aspect. Even qualities that manifest positively in one specific field can be entirely different elsewhere. Just as my father, who was muscular, well-built, and possessed great endurance, excelled in fields requiring strength or prolonged stamina but inevitably fell short in events demanding swiftness and speed, human abilities inherently possess duality, like a card with two sides. I believed that if my shortcomings seemed significant at first glance, it meant equally outstanding strengths existed. Therefore, I spared no investment or effort to give my all in the intellectually demanding fields that interested me.
Now, I meticulously manage my physical fitness to overcome limitations, constantly focusing on compensating for weaknesses while relentlessly honing my strengths to make them shine brighter. I believe human talents and abilities are like raw gems, each person born with several, and without personal cultivation and refinement, they cannot be fully utilized.

Values

I aspire to be someone who strives constantly, driven by the will to never cease learning throughout my life. In this modern era where the pace of development accelerates, we acutely feel how reality can shift dramatically even within a single year. We witness many things we once took for granted vanishing into the annals of history. We sometimes feel bewildered by new cultural phenomena and show a tendency to struggle with adaptation. This adaptability is more acute and responsive in youth, while as we age, our minds become more rigid and reflexes somewhat slower.
However, if one does not constantly strive to keep pace, rather than lamenting that reality pushes them back “too quickly,” they will inevitably fall behind to the point where the gap becomes insurmountable. They will then inevitably become like relics of the past, forgotten in people’s memories. Therefore, I always strive to keep my senses sharp, like a child who reacts sensitively to the changing times and maintains a childlike curiosity.
Motivation for Application and Aspirations After Joining
The world’s progress, where system operations within buildings allow access to technology and information spanning a broader range than any offline activity, has given me the confidence that while my body may remain in one place, my spirit can roam the entire world. Particularly when such work reaches the realm of overseas trade or aviation services crossing oceans, I find myself deeply intrigued by the potential of roles where my influence can extend far beyond domestic constraints. This has fueled my desire to contribute to your company, leading me to apply.
If given the opportunity to work with your company, I will strive to leverage my strength of competing with my mind rather than my body, always adapting flexibly to the changing times and ensuring I do not fall behind. While my relatively young age may make it difficult to fully appreciate the value of this trait now, I recognize that as one approaches an age where technological advancement inevitably renders skills obsolete, the passion to constantly refine one’s capabilities and maintain thorough preparedness becomes paramount in any role.
