Since my first year of high school, I have studied chemistry with a keen interest in the composition and structure of materials. I found chemistry fascinating and read extensively in related fields. I became particularly intrigued by the technology that statistically processes and minimizes various invisible defects, identifies defect-causing processes, and manages them.
When considering which domestic industries possess global competitiveness, the semiconductor industry is undeniably at the forefront. Moreover, as we enter the information society, many everyday items we use increasingly require semiconductors. Therefore, it is clear that the semiconductor industry is a future-oriented field that will inevitably continue to grow alongside the development of the information society, epitomized by the internet.
Having always been curious about the principles behind the science encountered in daily life, I became interested in majoring in semiconductor engineering after learning about the infinite possibilities of semiconductors. I wish to build the foundation for becoming a future semiconductor researcher at your esteemed university.
Academic Plan and Goals
Upon admission to your university, I intend to first apply my passion for chemistry to study semiconductor engineering in depth. During my freshman year, I will diligently study mathematics and physics to build a solid foundation in engineering. Once I enter my major, I will focus on courses such as Electronic and Electrical Mathematics, Circuit Network Theory, Applied Mathematics, and Electromagnetics.
I will also diligently study foreign languages to confidently express myself both domestically and internationally. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to pursue graduate studies and overseas study to deepen my knowledge of semiconductor engineering. Recognizing this as a cutting-edge scientific field, I will join clubs to engage in diverse reading and discussions, cultivating a creative and future-oriented mindset.
Post-Graduation Plans
After graduation, I aspire to pursue research in nano-semiconductors. I aim to develop cutting-edge nano-materials and processes applicable to semiconductor production. I thrive on tackling challenges head-on; I find fulfillment in overcoming obstacles one by one and achieving goals during the project execution phase.
Through this sense of accomplishment, I will diligently and persistently achieve the goals of nano-semiconductor experiments. I will continue my research with the conviction that what others deem impossible, I alone can make possible. Moving forward, I will dedicate myself wholeheartedly to research on next-generation semiconductor device development, striving to ensure Korea gains world-class technological competitiveness in nano-semiconductor technology.
Self-Introduction (Life Philosophy, Values)
After graduation, I wish to pursue research in nano semiconductors. I aspire to develop advanced nano materials and processes applicable to semiconductor production. I am the type who finds fulfillment in the process of tackling problems one by one and achieving goals, as issues inevitably arise during the progression of a project I’ve started with a clear objective.
I value perseverance above all else. Without seeing things through to the end, even an excellent process yields no results. Among the most enjoyable books I’ve read is ‘The Joy of Learning’ by the renowned Japanese mathematician Hironaka Heisuke.
I found it fascinating to read about his childhood, including how someone who ‘prides himself on being unintelligent’ went on to win the Fields Medal, often called the Nobel Prize of mathematics. Though he received various prestigious awards and became famous, earning praise as a person of outstanding talent, he states he neither possesses a brilliant mind nor any special talent. However, he asserts he has absolute confidence in his ability to persevere through relentless effort, and that this is what led him to success.
His tenacity to see things through to the end for his own results gave me strength, as I was someone who easily became discouraged by even minor difficulties.
Just as the passage states, ‘Wait patiently, and when the luck to seize an opportunity comes, the rest is perseverance. I make it my creed to invest twice the time others do,’ I too am preparing to run toward my goals with perseverance, without getting discouraged or frustrated by small setbacks. I strive to experience the joy of moving toward my goals and discovering my own hidden potential along the way.
