In this blog post, I will outline, in order, the academic efforts I made during high school, my participation in school activities, examples of my consideration and cooperation, and my career preparation process.
Academic Experiences and Reflections
While preparing for early admission, my immediate priority was to efficiently address practical requirements such as my GPA and evaluations of school activities. To achieve this, I adopted a strategic approach by creating and implementing a study plan. First, I devised a plan to quickly improve my lower-scoring grades while simultaneously maintaining or further improving my performance in subjects where I was already doing relatively well.
Mathematics was the subject that required the most attention, so I carefully analyzed the question types I got wrong most often and the units I found most difficult. Based on these findings, I focused on mastering the underlying principles of those units, practiced solving problems repeatedly, and used an error log to track my mistakes. Through this process, I studied to be able to solve problems quickly.
Not only in math but also in other subjects, I analyzed the areas where I made the most mistakes, prioritized them, and studied by delving deeply into the core concepts. By accurately identifying my weaknesses and focusing on improving them, I was able to raise my grades efficiently. The experience of seeing my grades improve in a short period of time made me realize the importance of effective study methods and time management.
The extra time I gained from my improved grades helped me create a more fulfilling school life by dedicating it to school activities and self-development. By managing my time efficiently through analysis while still tackling the immediate academic demands, I was naturally able to build my own portfolio of school activities. Through implementing this strategy, I learned firsthand the importance of time management and how effective planning determines success or failure; I will continue to apply this perspective to everything I do after graduation to achieve successful outcomes.
Description of Major School Activities and Reflections
As a member of the Broadcasting Club, I gained practical experience in the production department by participating in various events and broadcasts—ranging from lunchtime radio shows to the preparation for the Broadcasting Festival and school festivals. The daily lunchtime broadcasts were a project I put particular effort into; to prevent the recurring programs from becoming monotonous, I introduced weekly themes and ran promotional campaigns to attract my classmates’ interest. Above all, believing that “empathy” is the core of broadcasting, I focused on creating an atmosphere where students could understand one another’s feelings and communicate effectively.
Producing these broadcasts led me to reflect deeply on the impact content has on people and the very purpose of broadcasting. I planned the shows with the awareness that they were not merely programs to pass the time, but rather served as a space where people could comfort one another and build a sense of empathy through shared stories. Through this experience, I developed a dream of working on a larger scale to move people’s hearts with content and foster a positive atmosphere.
I also have experience collaborating with the Student Council and the Broadcasting Club to establish an efficient social media channel for sharing Student Council updates and campus news. As social media has become ubiquitous, the Student Council created accounts to more actively promote the school and announce events, while the Broadcasting Club primarily handled content production. I was in charge of video production, writing scripts tailored to each topic and conducting filming, and I paid close attention to research to create content that reflected current trends and captured students’ interest.
After production, we sought feedback through group reviews to improve the videos. These combined efforts led to an increase in subscribers and earned recognition for effectively promoting school events. By experiencing the entire process—from planning and production to promotion—I learned the real impact of media content and the importance of predicting and incorporating outcomes from the planning stage onward.
Examples of Consideration, Sharing, and Cooperation, and My Reflections
The Broadcasting Club has consistently engaged in volunteer activities, and when a local volunteer organization requested that we create a promotional video for their activities, we consulted with the school and took on the project. The purpose of the video was to accurately convey what activities the organization carries out and how to participate in volunteer work, so we approached the task with a strong sense of responsibility as we developed the structure, script, and filming plan.
During the production process, Broadcasting Club members collaborated by brainstorming ideas and discussing them, and we held several meetings with the organization to finalize the presentation style and key messages. The key was not to try to cram too much in at once, but to ensure that the key messages we needed to convey were clearly highlighted. When differing opinions arose, we reminded ourselves of our common goal and found a compromise, which allowed us to complete a video that everyone could agree on.
The finished video was posted on social media, the organization’s website, and YouTube, and I felt a great sense of fulfillment upon hearing that the number of volunteer applicants had increased as a result. Through this experience, I learned how to coordinate by leveraging each other’s strengths during the collaborative process, how to achieve common goals by accepting others’ opinions, and how to approach production with a sense of responsibility. I also witnessed firsthand how individual talents, when used for a good cause, can have a positive impact on the entire organization.
Efforts and Preparation Related to Motivation for Application and Career Plans
During high school, I devoted most of my time outside of academics to broadcasting and video production. Rather than being project-based, these activities were things I participated in because I genuinely enjoyed them, and they naturally became part of my portfolio. Through the process of creating content in collaboration with the community—such as producing lunch-time broadcasts, festival coverage, and school promotional videos—I learned the meaning of collaboration and a sense of responsibility.
Through video production, I experienced firsthand the power of content, and by witnessing how content spreads through various media and networks, I came to deeply appreciate the influence of media. This led me to realize that content can serve not only as a force for individuals and communities but also as a source of a nation’s cultural power. Consequently, I set a goal to contribute to strengthening that power and helping Korea become a cultural powerhouse.
To this end, I plan to build my expertise in my major while continuously studying trends in video media and content, and steadily upgrading my personal content portfolio. I will go beyond mere production techniques to include analyses of how each piece of content was utilized to achieve specific objectives and the results it produced. I will become a video professional who never stops growing and applies my specialized knowledge to shape the future.
