Collection of Self-Introduction Components – School Days (Part-Time Jobs/Internships)

This blog post introduces sample self-introductions that effectively convey the competencies gained through part-time jobs and internships during school days.

Working part-time with a sense of ownership

Upon entering university, I considered myself an adult and resolved to take financial responsibility for myself from that moment on. That’s how I started part-time work. It wasn’t merely a means to earn money; it was also a valuable opportunity to experience society and build adaptability. The first thing I realized while working was the meaning behind my father’s constant reminder: “Earning someone else’s money is never easy.” I truly felt the weight of those words through direct, hands-on experience.
I am someone who strives to be the best at whatever I do. Even though I was just a part-timer, I worked diligently with a sense of ownership. My proactive and positive attitude earned me favorable evaluations wherever I worked. Through this, I also learned how crucial managing people is. I realized that for an organization to succeed, it needs many talented individuals who share its goals and work hard towards them. However, while working part-time, I often saw people who seemed to be just killing time. Those individuals didn’t find joy in their work. I believed that if they recognized the organization’s goals and adopted a mindset to achieve them together, they could work much more happily and find greater fulfillment.
My experience working at ‘Life’ was especially a great learning experience for me. I directly witnessed how immensely motivating it is when members move forward together toward a shared goal, and how that passion creates tremendous synergy in company work. I also learned the importance of organizational management and human resources management in drawing out people’s passion, along with practical methods to implement this. This experience was worth far more than a simple part-time job; it became the foundation of my social life and a crucial asset I will carry forward into my future career.

Valuable Social Experience Through Part-Time Work

During middle and high school, I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out freely with friends. At school, we played together on the playground, and after classes, we spent time exercising. Though it was only a 30-minute walk home, time flew by when I was with friends—even an hour or two would pass without me noticing. Furthermore, when a friend faced a difficult situation, I always tried to be a source of strength by maintaining a positive attitude and offering help.
While I poured my own passion into studying, it was above all thanks to my parents’ full support that I was able to enter my current university. However, after entering university, I felt embarrassed about constantly asking my parents for money, and I decided it was time to become independent. So, I started working part-time. Initially, I lived in a boarding house, but later moved to a dormitory where I could live if I focused solely on my studies, saving on living expenses. However, I wanted to earn my own spending money. My parents told me not to worry at all about tuition or living costs, but I believed that ‘if I couldn’t manage my own life, I wouldn’t be able to properly steer my entire life,’ so I decided not to accept spending money.
Early on, I took my first steps into working life by laboring in a freezing cold storage warehouse during the depths of winter or doing day-labor jobs. Then, by my senior year of college, I used the money I’d saved to start living on my own, seeking a freer and more independent life. From then on, I worked diligently, taking on night shifts and weekend jobs without hesitation. Though there were many difficult moments along the way, meeting diverse people and experiencing various jobs allowed me to gain invaluable social experience that couldn’t be learned from books or lectures.
Looking back, part-time work was more than just a means to earn money; it was a precious process that cultivated the strength to take charge of my own life. No matter what I do in the future, the experiences and mindset from that time will remain an unchanging asset within me.

Growth Through Diverse Part-Time Jobs and Club Activities

Coming from a modest family background, I had to take on various part-time jobs throughout my school years. At the time, I only saw them as hard and grueling work, but looking back now, I realize all those experiences became invaluable assets to me. Above all, it was a precious time where I learned how to interact with people and understand their perspectives.
Working night shifts at a convenience store exposed me to diverse customers, while tutoring and teaching at an academy gave me opportunities to teach and connect with many children. Working physically demanding jobs like inventory checks or factory work allowed me to chat with the older women I worked alongside. Through these conversations, I learned what aspects of their children’s education they valued most and what kind of teachers they desired. This insight proved invaluable later when I engaged in educational activities.
Beyond part-time work, I actively participated in volunteer and hobby activities. Through volunteering at a children’s welfare center and participating in a theater club, I experienced not only new connections but also the joy of collaboration. The most memorable moment was when both clubs joined forces to prepare a theater performance for the children at the center. The time spent acting and laughing with the children brought me immense joy and confirmed my belief that using diverse media could make engaging with children more effective.
Looking back, all those experiences became the foundation for broadening my perspective and expanding my horizons. They weren’t just part-time jobs to earn money or activities to fill time; they were valuable processes that helped me understand people, build relationships, and grow in a better direction.

Research Project Execution Skills, Life Science Technology, and Organizational Life Experience

After entering university, I worked part-time at convenience stores and various other places during vacations. I didn’t start because I absolutely needed the money for tuition or living expenses. Rather, I wanted to broaden the limited social circle I had in middle and high school, interact with new people, and gain a wider perspective on the world. During this time, I developed the habit of carefully observing people, which became a significant asset to me. As I advanced in my studies, I also secured an internship opportunity at a company by directly requesting it from my professor. Although brief, this allowed me to experience professional life firsthand. I participated in diverse tasks, from weighing beagles and assisting with blood draws to observing dissection procedures. While not extensive, this experience fostered my independence and cultivated the perseverance to steadily pursue my goals.
Later, I entered medical graduate school, where I researched the mechanisms of cell death induced by environmental pollutants, focusing on rabbit cartilage cells and mouse cerebellar granule neurons. Building on that experience, I joined a brain disease research department and identified the SUMO protein as a factor inducing amyloid beta production, one of the causes of dementia onset. Furthermore, I participated in research clarifying that the SUMO protein binds to the BACE protein, thereby promoting amyloid beta production. As I was primarily responsible for cell culture and in vitro experiments, I am confident in my cell culture techniques. Additionally, by experiencing the entire process of planning research projects and conducting experiments, I developed systematic research execution capabilities. Through this, I not only acquired diverse life science techniques but also personally learned the importance of organized collaboration and communication within the laboratory.
These experiences instilled in me more than just technical skills; they fostered a tenacious attitude toward achieving goals and a mindset of working harmoniously within a team. Even now, I use these experiences as a foundation to challenge myself toward deeper research and greater achievements.

The Joy of Connecting with New People

I am someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with new people. The process of talking with strangers and getting to know each other is always an exciting experience for me. During high school, facing an unfamiliar environment and a new school was, on one hand, frightening and nerve-wracking, but on the other, my heart raced with anticipation at the prospect of meeting new friends and people. That period, when I had to leave my parents’ side and manage everything on my own, was by no means easy. Yet, through every difficult moment, I persevered thanks to my friends’ support and warm hearts. Looking back, I realize that rapid independence and new environment gifted me countless ‘precious people’ during that invaluable time.
Living alone naturally led me to start a part-time job. I worked as a sales assistant at an electronics store. While it was simply a job to earn money, it became another ‘place for encounters’ for me. I greeted each customer who visited the store more often, made eye contact, and served them with sincerity, as if they were friends. Perhaps because of this attitude, customers visiting the store often specifically requested me, saying, “I want to ask that salesperson.” As a result, the store recognized my efforts, and I received a higher hourly wage than my other colleagues.
This experience gave me an important realization: that friendliness and a sincere attitude have the power to move people’s hearts, and that this power is unleashed when you approach any task with the same heart. Moving forward, I want to live with anticipation rather than fear when meeting new people, and with a heart that conveys sincerity. I believe this will help me grow and create other precious connections.

Living a Life of Self-Discovery

During my university years, I took on various part-time jobs to fund a trip to Prague. Among them was carrying bricks at a construction site. This experience taught me, beyond mere physical labor, how crucial relationships with coworkers truly are. After my first day, my entire body ached so badly I had to lie down, but what kept me going through the hardship was the strength of my colleagues who encouraged and relied on each other. That experience gave me the conviction that ‘when we unite our strength with one heart, there is nothing we cannot overcome.’
Additionally, while handling transportation duties at a parcel delivery company, I worked with a sense of mission to process items delivered to customers swiftly and accurately. Above all, I prioritized ‘safety’ and made meticulous efforts to keep promises to customers. I believe this attitude and experience will serve as a strong foundation for performing work in any organization, especially at your company.
During my final semester of senior year, I interned in the distribution sector, handling country-of-origin labeling support. Here, I directly learned and mastered the detailed procedures of the distribution process, particularly gaining deep knowledge of the specifics surrounding country-of-origin labeling. Building on this, I not only promoted related information to various business sites and companies but also had the opportunity to clearly explain the differences between domestic and imported agricultural products in educational programs for the general public.
Looking back, all these experiences served as a solid foundation for my growth. The value of cooperation learned while carrying bricks, the responsibility and speed gained at the parcel delivery site, and the specialized knowledge accumulated as a distribution intern—I am confident that this path I have pioneered myself will be a great asset in my future life and workplace.

Gaining Practical Experience Through Internships

Upon entering university, I was selected as an outstanding student and received a full scholarship for two years. In the Information Processing Department, I took various major courses related to computers, encountering fields like programming languages, hardware, and networks. However, as I continued my studies, I realized that working in a general corporation suited my aptitude better than specializing in IT. Of course, computer-related knowledge is increasingly useful and invaluable, so I gave my best effort to my major courses. Simultaneously, I utilized spare moments to begin studying computerized accounting.
During summer break, I participated in a computerized accounting program organized by the university’s industry-academic cooperation center, receiving four weeks of intensive training. Aiming for certification, I stayed after class until the computer lab closed to practice. Before class started, I always arrived 30 minutes early to familiarize myself with the program and build my skills. Through this process, I mastered the use of the Dozon program, which proved immensely valuable in my subsequent practical experience.
Furthermore, through an industry-academia cooperation program linked to my major, I secured an opportunity for a one-month internship at a company. I interned at ○○ Co., Ltd. Although it was an IT company, my primary responsibilities involved document creation using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. This was a valuable opportunity to experience a real work environment before stepping into society. Assigned to the general affairs department, I created various documents based on employee requests, indirectly encountered company financial statements, and learned how Excel and PowerPoint are utilized in practical work. Furthermore, my ability to handle the Duzon program was recognized, leading to being entrusted with data entry tasks. This provided me with the valuable experience of learning the overall accounting process.
This internship experience went beyond a simple part-time job or academic assignment; it was a time to directly see how knowledge learned in school is applied in the real world. Most importantly, I internalized the meticulousness and sense of responsibility required in practical work, instilling confidence that I can quickly adapt and grow in any future environment.

Part-time jobs and internships that shaped me during college

During college, I gained experience through various part-time jobs and learned office work through internships. I always found working enjoyable. It went beyond simply investing time and effort for wages; the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment from earning my own money was significant. I learned a great deal from the different types of part-time jobs. For instance, my experience working at a performance venue was particularly memorable. Performance venues required meticulous attention to audience members, resulting in a high proportion of female staff. To be honest, sometimes getting along smoothly with my female coworkers proved more challenging than interacting with the audience. However, through this process, I learned how to communicate gently and kindly without offending others, as well as how to resolve conflicts by helping each other ease tensions.
My experience with short-term office work at a broadcasting station was also immensely valuable. I gradually became proficient in document creation and Excel, naturally acquiring the basic computer skills essential for an office environment. Additionally, working in fast-paced environments like fast-food restaurants and coffee shops taught me to quickly prioritize tasks and develop efficient teamwork skills. These experiences taught me not just ‘how to work,’ but ‘how to work together.’
My internship experience broadened my understanding of work significantly. I interned for one year at a small-to-medium enterprise focused on online marketing. During that time, I gained firsthand experience with the entire workflow from start to finish. I learned a wide range of tasks, from basic reception duties like answering phones and greeting visitors, to preparing for and participating in meetings, creating presentation (PPT) materials, preparing for contract closures, and managing office documents and organizing data systems. I gained an understanding of the entire flow of how a project is planned, executed, and concluded, not just handling individual tasks.
Looking back, the diverse part-time jobs and internships during my university years were invaluable experiences that fostered my growth in many areas. Communication skills, situational adaptability, efficient work methods, and collaboration within an organization—all these were precious lessons gained only through hands-on experience, not learned from textbooks. These experiences, which shaped who I am today, will serve as a solid foundation for my future professional life.

Part-time and Internship Experience

My career may not be grand or flashy, but I’ll write about it with the mindset of documenting the path I’ve walked. Rather than office-based part-time jobs, I primarily pursued work that leveraged my strengths in interacting and communicating with people. From tutoring and academy teaching to serving jobs at cafes and restaurants, I met people and gained experience in diverse settings. The most profound lesson I learned during this time was that the proverb “A kind word is worth a thousand gold pieces” is no exaggeration. I realized that even the same words or request can create a completely different atmosphere depending on how they are conveyed, and can resonate positively with the other person. This led me to deeply consider how to communicate and coordinate opinions in a way that is both considerate and pleasant. Fortunately, during that time, I met many good people and seniors, which allowed me to naturally learn about the attitude and mindset needed when dealing with others.
I gained my internship experience at a company operating in the education sector. This company planned and produced books, and developed educational content in collaboration with workbook publishers. There, I learned how the entire content production process was carried out. What particularly impressed me was the remarkable synergy that emerged when people worked according to their aptitudes and strengths. Witnessing this made me realize, ‘Ultimately, placing the right people in the right roles is the core of what drives an organization.’ From that point on, I set a goal: rather than being someone who directly plans, I wanted to take on a role that reads people’s capabilities and timing and coordinates them. These experiences and thoughts accumulated, ultimately leading me to challenge myself with the work at your company today.

Experiencing Society Through an Internship

During my senior year, our university signed an MOU with a department store, granting me the opportunity to work there as an intern for one month. As a business major, I was assigned to the HR department for administrative support duties. This experience provided a special finale to my college life. On my first day, dressed in a suit, my heart raced with a mix of excitement and nerves. The thought, “Soon after graduating, I’ll become a working professional like this,” naturally brought a sense of responsibility to perform well.
During my internship, I was responsible for organizing, storing, and sending HR-related materials and documents. Thanks to my confidence in organization, I identified inefficient processes and improved them for a more systematic approach. I also strictly adhered to document storage standards and principles, while proactively suggesting improvements to my team leader when I noticed areas for enhancement. Though it was only a month, it was a valuable time where I directly experienced the atmosphere of a corporate environment and gained hands-on work experience. Above all, this experience helped alleviate my vague fears about entering the workforce and instilled confidence that ‘I can do this.’
This brief yet intensive internship taught me more than just job skills; it provided the attitude and mindset essential for my future career. That memory remains a solid first step in my professional journey.
