Our horizons expand with each challenge we take on

Our horizons gradually expand with each challenge we take on. We often hear so much advice about what not to do ‘to be like others’, ‘to avoid standing out’, or ‘to blend in harmoniously with everyone’. Particularly in Eastern cultures, which place greater emphasis on the group’s gaze and overall atmosphere than in the West, we frequently receive guidance on how to fit in smoothly and unobtrusively as a member of the collective rather than focusing on the individual.
Rather than freely extending our own branches, this social notion takes root first, dominating our lives. And this notion imposes its yardstick and framework on our lives from an excessively early stage. As we grow, the sense of obligation to live consciously aware of these social constraints also grows, and as time passes, that framework increasingly dominates our lives.
Therefore, during our youth—when we are relatively free from social obligations—we need to broaden our horizons as much as possible, shunning constraints as if fleeing. After all, as we age, we must shoulder burdens to seamlessly integrate into society’s framework without friction. Thus, youthful challenges are not merely acts of courage but essential processes for expanding our vision for the life ahead.
With each challenge we undertake, we encounter new perspectives and possibilities. As these experiences accumulate, we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and learn to view the world more broadly and colorfully. So, in this very moment, I hope you will challenge yourself freely, carving out your own path, unbound by the gaze of others or societal expectations. For challenge ultimately becomes the driving force that makes our lives richer and more meaningful.

Remembering that first thrill

Recall that first moment of genuine, heart-pounding excitement. In childhood, the gloves my father treasured in a corner of his study served as a conduit to the passion of his hardworking days, rekindling that same palpitation. To my father, those gloves weren’t merely tools evoking arduous labor. They allowed him to revive the joyful, thrilling spirit he felt when he first founded his company. Recalling that era when he resolved to forge a new path by dedicating himself to a field he deeply yearned for, my father could vividly remember not just the exhaustion, but also his own fearless, pure longing for the path he was now on.
Thanks to my father’s strict upbringing, I too was able to choose my current path. Looking back at the diary I kept when making that decision, I once again reflect on the passion I held as a child. It’s a moment that reignites the pure heart I had temporarily forgotten, buried under the weight of a busy and exhausting daily routine and work. And I am filled with joy knowing that I am now building, with my own hands, the dreams and aspirations I once held as a child. In this way, recalling those earliest, heart-racing moments becomes a precious time for us living in the present—a time that rekindles pure passion and gives us the strength to move forward.
I hope you, too, reading this, will pause for a moment and reflect on your most sincere beginning. I believe that the excitement and passion of those days will make your present life stronger and more fulfilling.

Let us become people unshaken by fleeting trends

The world we live in today is changing at a pace where it’s difficult to adapt without acquiring new knowledge, amidst a civilization that pours out new news several times a day, sees dazzling technological advancements, and is in constant flux. It has become a society where it is now naturally accepted to swiftly abandon beliefs held steadfastly just yesterday and shift one’s stance to be swept up by today’s new ideas. People consume goods and readily discard items, even those still usable, once deemed relics of the past. Adapting to such a changing environment means repeatedly surrendering to another torrent. We find ourselves in a reality where we must constantly shift our position to survive, like puzzle pieces that only fit when in constant motion.
Nevertheless, I believe that in a society demanding such sensitivity to change, maintaining an unshakable core of self is paramount. If we fail to establish our own judgments and instead get tossed about, we risk eventually facing a hollow shell of ourselves. No matter how many dazzling outfits we change into to follow trends, if our fundamental inner self isn’t solid, it all becomes meaningless. Therefore, we must consistently strive to build and strengthen an unshakable center within ourselves, even amidst this ever-changing world. This is the true path to preserving your authentic self and advancing steadfastly through a busy world.

Leading by Example

I live by the principle of leading by example. I believe everyone is the same. Someone must step forward, but the harder the task, the more natural it is to hesitate. That’s why I adopt an attitude of proactively stepping forward without hesitation, especially when the task is difficult. By practicing this mindset of leading by example, I have strived to be a role model for others, earning multiple exemplary student awards and commendations during my middle and high school years. Furthermore, as a young person who does not turn a blind eye to the difficulties around me, I have also appeared in several documentaries. I believe this attitude is not limited to school life but is also a crucial stance in social life. If there is a task that needs to be done, I am willing to take it on.
On the other hand, I enjoy bowling as a hobby. I first encountered bowling during C.A. time in middle school, and it immediately captivated me. The thrill of rolling the ball and knocking down all the pins hooked me, and I became so absorbed in bowling that I even participated in amateur championships for a while. Another major appeal is that bowling is more fun when enjoyed with others rather than alone. So, I occasionally visit bowling alleys with friends to relieve stress and have a good time. Bowling goes beyond being just a simple exercise; it also greatly helps foster camaraderie. I believe the experience of naturally deepening bonds with others while exercising together is very important in social life as well. In fact, I am confident that if we build camaraderie through bowling, cooperation and communication will become smoother, ultimately having a positive impact on the company’s development.

Pay attention to the little things

I live by the value of ‘paying attention to the little things.’ I never consider even five minutes trivial; I always set my watch five minutes ahead to make each day meaningful. I firmly believe nothing in this world is truly insignificant and hold the conviction that we must always observe our surroundings with meticulous care. I take pride in the fact that this value has earned me positive recognition from those around me. Since small misunderstandings or conflicts can escalate into major problems, I prioritize accuracy in all my actions. I maintain the habit of meticulously checking everything without the slightest oversight when handling tasks. In interpersonal relationships, I avoid actions that might cause others to feel hurt. If I’ve made a mistake, I always take care to prevent misunderstandings from growing by honestly acknowledging it and apologizing.
This attention to detail and diligent attitude have also deeply influenced my financial mindset. Since high school, I have consistently saved 3,000 won every single day without fail. While it may not be a large sum, I believe this steady saving habit is a good indicator of my diligence. By saving consistently every single day for seven years, I have now accumulated a fairly substantial amount. Had I spent these small amounts as they came in, I would not have the sense of accomplishment and joy I feel today. Just as small things accumulate to achieve great results, I never forget the joy of accomplishment that comes from attending to the trivial. I promise to treat every task entrusted to me at your company with this same care and always give my utmost effort.
This attitude of paying attention to every little detail has been a great strength throughout my life. I believe that approaching both big and small tasks with sincerity and dedication ultimately leads to greater trust and results. Moving forward, I will continue to meticulously examine every small detail, striving to contribute to your company through consistency and diligence. Thank you.

No pain, no gain

Nothing worthwhile comes without effort. This is well-known in English as “No Pain, No Gain.” It’s likely a very famous saying that everyone has heard at least once. I, too, deeply resonate with this phrase and live by it as my personal creed. This is because I’ve always found that only through overcoming difficulties could I truly achieve what I desired. Even the smallest achievements, if gained too easily, tended to vanish just as quickly. For instance, whether studying for exams at school or preparing sketch assignments, I had this strange superstition: only when I was physically unwell or facing some hardship did I produce better work and perform well on tests. The same held true for projects. If things progressed too smoothly, I’d often lose momentum at the end, and the project would collapse. Conversely, I’ve repeatedly experienced that when a project starts with difficulties or overcomes a tough hurdle, it subsequently gains support from others and popularity, making the rest of the process much smoother. That’s why I actually welcome it when things get tough. I face it without fear, thinking, ‘Here it comes,’ and I don’t back down just because it’s hard; I push through to the end. This attitude is how I approach challenges, and it’s also my approach to life.
My preparation for joining your company follows this same logic. I’ve long desired to work in design, particularly harboring a strong passion for character design. However, circumstances led me to take on roles in game planning and project management. While holding the title of team leader at a small startup, I effectively handled nearly every task myself, leaving little time for the character or background design work I truly loved. Therefore, once the company stabilized, I prepared to transition to your company as a designer to pursue what I truly wanted to do. While preparing for this move, I stayed up late every night, sketching and taking notes two or three pages daily, and meticulously completed each piece of my portfolio. There were many days without proper sleep, and times when my body and mind were exhausted. Yet, I take pride in the sincere and diligent results that came from enduring that hardship. I earnestly hope that through this prepared portfolio, I can confidently demonstrate my abilities and join the company I’ve always dreamed of.
Pain and hardship sometimes weigh us down, but I have lived learning firsthand that without them, true growth and achievement are impossible. Moving forward, I intend to continue living a life where I do not fear any difficulties that come my way, but rather seize them as opportunities to advance step by step. I believe this mindset will make me stronger.

The end of the road is never certain

The end of the road is never certain. This is a personal creed that emphasizes the need for patience and steady progress, reflecting the nature of research where one must walk the path of a seeker throughout one’s life, even if answers remain elusive. Sometimes, the answer you’ve labored to find appears suddenly and unexpectedly; other times, it is discovered only after a lifetime of tedious, repeated struggles. Regardless, the researcher must wait patiently, with a humble heart, for the answer that will come to them like a revelation. Research is the task of adding one more brick to the tower of knowledge built by countless scholars of the past and countless fellow researchers today. Where exactly that brick will fit is entirely up to the will of heaven. From a human perspective, one can only gaze up at the towering castle of knowledge, unable to know precisely where the brick they lay will be placed.
This sense of overwhelming uncertainty should not lead to abandonment, for only those who steadily lay bricks will one day face the fruits of their labor. Thus, the most essential virtue for a researcher is patience. Even if the answer sought comes easily, there is no guarantee the path ahead will be smooth. Sometimes the end of the road remains invisible until the very moment of death, when the answer finally arrives. Therefore, researchers must always wait humbly for the moment the answer comes to them. Only through relentless patience and diligence does that day finally arrive. Thus, while the path of research is long and arduous, we must never forget that the achievement awaiting at its end is an invaluable fruit, irreplaceable by anything else.

Let us live by valuing our limited time

We often think the time given to us each day is too long, forgetting even the fact that life will inevitably end someday. That feeling of barely getting through another day, that listless reflection on a day that slipped by so carelessly we don’t even know how it passed—that is precisely such an example. Especially before reaching middle age, the remaining time feels so distant that many people easily maintain this relaxed attitude. However, as time passes, there comes a moment when the time left suddenly seems much shorter than the time already lived. Then, each moment unconsciously let slip begins to feel precious, and a sense of urgency sets in.
Even though one’s daily attitude hasn’t changed much, sensing the noticeable decrease in remaining time inevitably leads to reflection on the life lived so far, and one becomes consumed by regret: ‘What have I been doing all this time?’ Attempts are then made to live the rest of life more meaningfully, but trying to change after habits have already solidified is never easy. Rather, even the time spent on such exploration often feels like a waste, deepening the sense of regret. Therefore, if you truly wish to live life generously and meaningfully, I believe you must begin consistent effort while still feeling that “much remains.” Planning life with relative ease and cultivating good habits that naturally carry into middle age and beyond provides far greater psychological stability.
How we utilize our limited time ultimately determines the quality of our lives. Therefore, even when you feel you still have ample time, it’s essential to cherish each day and make a consistent effort to build a life that improves, even if only little by little. The habits and mindset cultivated this way will make life after middle age richer and more satisfying. As today draws to a close, I hope you can end the day feeling, “I spent today meaningfully,” rather than with the emptiness of thinking, “I don’t know how it passed.”

Rules exist to be followed

Rules exist to be followed. In today’s world, many people view those who adhere to established rules as predictable and boring, or regard breaking universally accepted norms as a form of individuality. However, I disagree. I believe that to truly become a distinctive individual who stands out from others, one must conceive original ideas that no one has attempted before. Simply dismantling established rules unconditionally is tantamount to abandoning the attempt to create your own uniqueness. Moreover, it inevitably invites criticism for potentially having a negative social impact, as it plants the idea in others’ minds that “maybe I should break the rules too?” for the sake of one’s own impulsive expression of individuality.
Social discipline is built on the consensus and promises of many people. It cannot be achieved alone; its existence is sustained only when the majority mutually influence each other and uphold it. If someone starts breaking the rules first, others influenced by them will join in a chain reaction of rule-breaking. If this destruction repeats, it inevitably becomes the prelude to societal collapse. From my stance opposing this vicious cycle, I strive to prevent such cracks by adhering to rules far more strictly than others. I believe that if others witness my thorough observance of even basic moral rules and feel pangs of conscience or are inspired, it can lead to a virtuous cycle that strengthens the chain of mutual promises in the world.
Ultimately, rules are not mere constraints but the minimum promise enabling us all to live peacefully and harmoniously together. Therefore, I believe true individuality lies not in recklessly breaking existing rules, but in forging one’s own unique path within that framework. As long as we all live within the community of society, we need to strive to find our own colors based on an attitude of respecting rules. Only then can our society grow healthily and sustainably.

Let’s indulge without regret

Throughout my life, I’ve repeatedly reaffirmed my belief in living without regret in the diverse fields of culture, art, study, and hobbies that have captured my interest. My passion burns intensely like a flame, but sustaining the lingering heat after that flame dies is extremely difficult. Therefore, when that fiery passion is present, I discipline myself to pour every effort into it without regret, allowing myself to burn out completely. It’s a heavy burden for me to suffer from regrets like “I should have done that back then” or “I shouldn’t have given that up,” clinging to half-hearted attachments even after interest in a past field has faded.
Moreover, this kind of passion, which flares up based on interest, is something I find difficult to control or artificially adjust myself. Therefore, once the flame ignites, I strive to cultivate a broad capacity to immerse myself deeply and relentlessly across diverse areas—even if solely to enhance my capabilities. For the flame that burns itself out without regret ultimately becomes ashes, and like a phoenix rising from those ashes, it grants me more advanced professional skills and renewed strength.
Thus, I believe that accumulating such passion without regret and sincere immersion brings profound growth and satisfaction to my life and work. Therefore, I will continue to move forward, indulging in every moment without regret. I sincerely hope you too find your own flame and spend your time without regret.
