Growth Journey

“The Time I Grew Up as a Reliable Eldest Brother”
Since my parents both worked, I naturally took on the role of caring for my younger sibling during my childhood. When my parents weren’t home, I served as a dependable guardian and little parent to my sibling, fulfilling my responsibilities with care. Seeing my mother struggle with household chores even after work always broke my heart, so I took charge of washing the dishes after dinner. Watching me do this, my sibling grew into a kind person who would soon volunteer, saying, “I’ll do the dishes first.”
Because I understood how much effort my parents put into raising us, I always tried to act responsibly. My core motivation in life was to ease their burden even a little. Living with this mindset meant people often told me I seemed more mature, more adult-like, and above all, dependable compared to others my age.
Throughout middle and high school, I never forgot the sincerity and thoughtfulness my parents taught me. I reached out to friends first, opening my heart to them. I actively spoke to classmates who seemed isolated or lonely, sharing kind attention. In school life, I approached everything with unwavering dedication, often being the first student to open the classroom door each day. These small acts accumulated, helping me grow into someone others could trust, and at the core of it all was always my parents’ warm guidance.
Looking back, the driving force behind who I am today was my family’s love and the sense of responsibility I naturally absorbed within it. The time spent as a dependable eldest brother has made me strong. Moving forward, I want to live as a trustworthy person wherever I am, never forgetting that warm guidance.

Strengths and Weaknesses

“The Early Bird”
I possess a diligent and conscientious nature. Throughout my school years, I was always the first student to arrive at school. I particularly enjoyed arriving early to the quiet classroom to prepare for the day’s lessons. Even arriving so early, I never once forgot my textbooks or supplies, demonstrating thorough preparation and meticulousness.
I am good at adhering to established rules and principles. While flexibility is certainly an important virtue, I believe that following basic rules is paramount, especially when performing work duties. I also place great importance on maintaining a strict separation between professional responsibilities and personal feelings. In my personal relationships, I am considerate of others and sometimes choose options that may be slightly disadvantageous to me. However, when preparing for projects or important events aimed at a common goal, I focus even more intently on upholding principles and standards. At work, I will be a responsible employee who clearly separates work and personal matters, respecting public order and the organization’s operational principles.
Furthermore, I always strive to maintain a humble attitude. Everyone has a desire to be recognized, and it’s natural to feel pleased when receiving praise. Since childhood, I too felt proud and happy when told I was responsible and dependable. My parents always watched over me warmly during those times, advising me not to become arrogant and to never lose my humble attitude. I have taken that teaching to heart and strive to approach things with an even lower posture when I achieve something. I believe humility is an important virtue that makes my growth shine even brighter.
Thus, diligence, thoroughness, humility, and consideration are my greatest strengths. I am confident they will also be vital foundations for my future professional life. They will greatly aid not only my personal growth but also in building harmony and trust with colleagues.

School Days and Professional Competence

“An unfamiliar field became the most fascinating area of my life”
When I first encountered the name ‘Control and Instrumentation Engineering’ in my senior year of high school, I had no idea what was taught there. However, through career counseling with my homeroom teacher, I learned this discipline is a cutting-edge field that integrates technologies from electrical, electronic, and computer engineering—the foundation of modern industry—to handle automatic control systems. I was particularly drawn to the fact that the curriculum centered on ‘mechatronics’ technology, a multidisciplinary field, which led me to enroll in the Control and Instrumentation Engineering program.
As I began taking major courses in earnest, my interest in this field deepened steadily. Through PLC programming and digital control experiments, I gained hands-on experience with control theory and practical application, truly grasping how it is implemented in real industry. Learning system automation solutions using sequence control and mastering control design and debugging techniques made me realize that control automation technology plays a core role not only in manufacturing but across diverse industries.
During my undergraduate studies, I also obtained a CAD program certification. Building on this qualification, I interned at an architectural design firm for a month to expand my design capabilities in a practical setting. Although brief, this period allowed me to directly observe and learn how CAD programs are utilized in practice while gaining diverse design experience. Most importantly, witnessing how projects actually progress in the field was a significant learning experience.
What was once an unfamiliar field, control and measurement, has now become the most intriguing and challenging area for me. Building on my academic exploration and practical experience, I aim to continue growing and developing expertise in this field.

Success Experience – The National Trek That Forged My Resilience

During my college years, I was deeply immersed in my major studies. My academic pursuits were so enjoyable and fascinating that I naturally had less interest in other activities. Things many students experience, like club activities or part-time jobs, felt like time-wasters to me. I believed focusing more intensely on my studies and earning scholarships was far more beneficial.
But even for someone like me, there was one thing I desperately wanted to do during my college years: the National Hiking Expedition. That journey—leaving home for three sweltering weeks, walking across the entire country on foot to reach Imjingak—was more than just an experience to me. It was a big dream, a challenge I wanted to take on myself. I knew full well the process would be extremely difficult, but my parents firmly supported me, saying it was “a valuable experience worth pursuing.” That encouragement gave me tremendous courage.
I participated in the National Great Trek, covering approximately 600km from Busan to Imjingak. As expected, not every path was smooth. Due to road conditions, I had to detour sections where walking on the roadway was impossible, and tunnels impassable on foot forced me to take longer routes. Each day was a continuous physical and mental challenge, and at times, the urge to give up surfaced. But every time that happened, I fought against myself and practiced overcoming that feeling. I believed that was the true meaning of this challenge.
The schedule involved walking an average of one hour daily, followed by 10 to 15 minutes of rest. For 20 nights and 21 days, we walked and walked. Blisters formed and burst repeatedly on our feet, and knee pain grew increasingly severe. Rainy days demanded more than double the physical endurance. Yet, through mutual encouragement and perseverance, the moment we finally reached Imjingak—the emotion of that instant defies description. Tears welled up uncontrollably, and even now, that memory remains one of the most intensely joyful moments of my life.
The Great Trek was not merely a single event or experience. It was a valuable opportunity to test my own limits and confirm the possibility of overcoming them. And through that journey, I believe I gained not just ‘strength,’ but an inner resilience to rise again no matter what hardship I face.
This experience gave me the confidence that no matter what difficulties I encounter in life ahead, I will never give up until the very end. Those steps taken on that scorching summer day forged who I am today.

Life Motto

“Only those who challenge themselves can become true protagonists.”
We often hear the saying, “If you wish for something badly enough, it will come true.” However, I don’t entirely agree with that statement. A heart filled with earnest desire alone cannot achieve anything. I believe that to realize a dream, one must translate that earnestness into action and follow through with practice; only then can one achieve what they desire.
The world doesn’t gift opportunities to anyone. Only those who create their own opportunities and relentlessly pursue them to seize those chances ultimately become the protagonists on the stage. If you have something you desire, merely holding it in your heart is insufficient. Practical steps toward your dream and persistent effort must absolutely follow.
I believe this: Anyone who holds onto dreams and hope can become the protagonist of their own life. However, to become that protagonist, one must absolutely go through the process of ‘challenge’. Only by not being afraid, not fearing failure, and continuing to move forward can one earn the right to be a true protagonist.
This belief has been the driving force behind my life and the standard that guides my direction at every moment of choice. Moving forward, I will never stop challenging myself to stand as the protagonist on the stage of my life. And I look forward to becoming a stronger version of myself along that journey.
