Self-PR
“I truly love change!”
Hello. I’d like to introduce myself as someone who thrives on change. During my freshman year of college, I first realized I had a slightly different way of thinking compared to others. At a lecture, a speaker said, “In the coming era, you’ll need to change careers an average of eight times to survive.” At that moment, my heart actually started racing with excitement. I couldn’t hide my excitement at the possibility of creating my own life by experiencing diverse careers, rather than living a boring, repetitive existence. Those words felt like a beacon of hope to me, sparking my imagination about life.
But my friends’ reactions were different. From worries like “How would you even find eight jobs?” to the practical anxiety of “It’s hard enough to get one stable job,” change was something they feared. That’s when I realized, ‘Ah, I’m definitely different from my peers.’ It was my attitude toward change. I am someone who anticipates change rather than fearing it, someone who waits for change to come.
That inclination naturally reflected in my way of life. I frequently traveled abroad to experience new environments. Of course, this wasn’t possible because I was well-off. On the contrary, my family’s circumstances were difficult, and I had to work part-time for over three months to earn the money for my plane ticket myself. Thus, I would depart with just one ticket, find work locally to sustain myself, and immerse myself in the lives of the locals to experience the true essence of the place. This experience of diving into the real fabric of life, rather than mere tourism, shaped me into a stronger and more adaptable person.
I tend to get along well with people anywhere and make friends easily. Even in unfamiliar environments or unexpected situations, I approach first and actively adapt rather than fear or retreat. Even when faced with major challenges, my positive attitude toward change gives me the strength to accept and overcome situations without wavering.
Of course, this aspect of my character is still evolving. However, I am confident that my positive attitude toward change, my willingness to embrace new things, and my experience of proactively forging my own path will be invaluable assets as a Private Banker at Samsung Securities. Just as clients’ lives and assets are constantly changing and evolving, I believe that only those who are flexible to change can create true value. Thank you for listening to my story.
Strengths and Areas for Improvement
“I am someone who puts understanding into practice.”
My greatest strength is being someone who puts understanding into practice. Living in diverse environments, I naturally developed an attitude of accepting people as they are, even those who might seem difficult to understand. My time abroad and part-time work in various settings taught me that different ways of life are simply ‘different,’ never ‘wrong.’ These experiences fostered my ability to respect diverse ways of life and harmoniously coexist with people of different cultures and attitudes.
For instance, during my stay in India, I quickly grasped and naturally embraced their culture. They lived by the ‘aesthetics of slowness,’ and some environments might have seemed inconvenient or unsanitary to an outsider. However, I accepted it as part of their culture, lived alongside them, and experienced authentic Indian life within that context. This attitude went beyond mere ‘adaptation’ to become ‘respect,’ ultimately allowing me to blend into that society.
Another example is my experience doing manual labor part-time. There, coarse language and behavior were the norm. Initially, I had to endure not only curses and scolding but also physical contact. Getting hit on the head or kicked was common, but over time, I came to understand that beneath their words and actions, they possessed tender hearts and deeply human qualities. I accepted this aspect as another ‘culture’ and maintained an attitude of reaching out first, opening my heart, and striving to connect. Eventually, as I became skilled and familiar with the work, I earned their genuine recognition and friendship. That connection remains a precious asset to me even now.
Thus, even in new environments, I possess the flexibility to understand and respect the other person’s culture, blending in naturally rather than asserting myself. This goes beyond mere adaptability; it stems from a genuine desire to understand others.
However, alongside these strengths, there are clearly areas I need to improve. Specifically, it’s a personality trait stemming from an overly strong sense of challenge. I have a very strong desire to take on new challenges, which sometimes leads me to take on multiple tasks simultaneously or start things before I’m fully prepared. Furthermore, because I have an impatient nature, I tend to rush through tasks. Repeating this attitude can lead to physical strain or mental overload. I’ve actually experienced this multiple times, and through those experiences, I’ve come to truly understand the weight of responsibility.
That’s why I’m currently focusing on quality over quantity in my work. I’m shifting my approach to first identifying what I can realistically handle and then doing my absolute best within those limits. Above all, I’m cultivating the habit of making plans and acting according to them. I’m consciously changing my mindset from simply doing ‘what I want to do’ to choosing ‘what I can responsibly handle’.
Ultimately, I possess the strength to connect with diverse people based on understanding and flexibility, while simultaneously striving to maintain balance even within a challenging mindset. Moving forward, I aim to further develop these strengths and proactively reflect on and improve my weaknesses.
Major Selection and Reason
“The people who read change first”
I chose this major because I believed the securities field is where “the people who read and embrace change first” work. The idea of detecting market trends faster than anyone else, making judgments, and acting accordingly in a rapidly changing market held great appeal for me. Therefore, while majoring in Business Administration, I chose Securities Finance as my minor. I steadily built my knowledge by participating in related study groups and self-study. I also prepared for and obtained certifications on my own, broadening my understanding of securities.
Securities finance generally refers to all finance related to securities. Securities are both an important means of raising funds and a tool for managing capital. When a company issues securities, investors provide capital, enabling the company to establish a foundation for growth. Conversely, investors can also generate returns by reading these market trends and managing their assets. I came to believe that those working in the securities industry are the ones who first read the flow of capital, predict market movements, and make critical decisions within this process.
For this reason, I felt a strong desire to work right in the thick of that rapidly changing environment. I developed a desire to play the most pivotal role in the most radical places, and I found myself drawn to financial roles that seamlessly connect funding, collateral, and the issuance and distribution of securities. I was particularly confident that I would find fulfillment in the process of coordinating with multiple stakeholders through negotiation and responsibly carrying out my duties.
I still have many shortcomings. However, I am not afraid of the speed of change; rather, I aspire to be someone who learns and grows within that change. With a challenging spirit that embraces risk and a meticulous attitude toward responsibility, I will treat every day as an opportunity to learn and grow continuously. On this journey ahead, I will learn more, understand deeper, and grow greater. Thank you for reading.
Passionate Experience
“Mastering a Language in a Short Time”
I believe the most passionate experiences come from studying. While activities are easier to self-motivate for, studying often lacks visible goals. Even when setting a goal in your mind, consistently moving toward it can be harder. That’s why I consider study time the period where I can discipline myself the most.
My most passionate experience was when I studied English and Chinese simultaneously before studying abroad in China. The international industrial district where I studied abroad was a melting pot of diverse nationalities. To truly thrive academically and socialize effectively there, I needed foundational skills in both English and Chinese. So I resolved to master both languages intensively in a short time.
At the time, I was juggling school classes, club activities, and study groups, so I had to carve out time for learning. I got up at 5 a.m. every day, studied English and Chinese alternately for an hour each, and then went to school. People around me expressed concern, saying I was taking on another ‘impossible-looking challenge,’ but I never gave up. As a result, I obtained certification in both languages and reached a level where I could handle everyday conversation without difficulty within just three months.
That experience reaffirmed my conviction: If you start, don’t give up, and persistently strive, there’s nothing you can’t achieve. Even if thoughts like ‘this might not work’ arise, you must erase that possibility from your mind and just keep going. Only then can you ultimately reach another level of accomplishment that few have experienced.
Motivation and Aspirations
“I want to make the securities industry my life’s work.”
I love constantly changing environments and find deep interest in discovering meaning within that change and connecting it to life’s direction. For someone like me, the first profession that truly captured my heart was the ‘securities industry’. I fully understand that reading market trends and the flow of capital is something that can never be handled by simply holding a few certifications. I find it even more appealing precisely because it requires cultivating a broader perspective, sharp analytical skills, and a fresh sensibility.
Although I lack direct practical experience, I am prepared to grow diligently, building on the preparation gained through various competitions and contests, along with my sincere understanding and empathy for people. With the earnest desire that securities become my entire life at this very moment, I intend to focus all my capabilities on Samsung Securities.
I will grow into a talent who provides tangible assistance to clients seeking to read economic trends, detect changes, and grow their assets, thereby further elevating Samsung Securities’ value through this process. In one year, I will become the most diligent ‘hardworking employee’; in three years, an ‘agile analyst’ armed with swift and accurate judgment; and in five years, a ‘top expert’ I can take pride in.
My heart is more earnest than ever, filled with the conviction that this is the one path that will guide my life. I will constantly learn, strive, and grow so that this conviction becomes trust and is proven through competence. I look forward to your guidance.
