How to Write a Heartfelt Wedding Vow Speech for the Bride and Groom

This blog post gathers and introduces examples of moving wedding vow speeches that will touch the hearts of the bride and groom. We hope it helps those seeking elegant wedding ceremony words.

The Path of a Couple Who Respects Each Other’s Individuality

In this season of harvest, when all life ripens like precious grains, on this auspicious and blessed day, we sincerely congratulate the groom, Mr. ○○○, and the bride, Ms. ○○○, whom we have always cherished and loved, on their sacred wedding ceremony. We also extend our deepest respect and gratitude to both sets of parents who raised their precious children with love and devotion, enabling them to stand here today.
Today, as they begin a new life together as husband and wife, the bride and groom will walk side by side on the foundation of life called ‘home’. The journey of two individuals, raised in different environments and possessing distinct values and ways of thinking, coming together to form one family is never an easy path. As they live together, differences in thought may sometimes lead to conflicting opinions, and differing perceptions of roles and responsibilities may cause friction. Yet these differences and conflicts are natural, and how you navigate them is the key to a happy married life.
Recognizing each other’s individuality and making a sincere effort to open your hearts and communicate honestly is the wisest way to resolve conflicts wisely. Respecting each other, sometimes yielding, and knowing how to share life’s burdens together are the virtues necessary for a couple to live as one heart and one body. Only through such constant effort, as two people grow together, can a solid and beautiful family be built.
There is no such thing as coincidence when a man and a woman meet and fall in love. Meeting and loving each other as guided by the invisible thread of fate, and ultimately becoming husband and wife to walk life’s path together, can be called a bond ordained by heaven. Therefore, marriage is not merely a union; it is the beginning of a new life and the most meaningful promise to welcome a lifelong companion.
Until now, you have been raised in different families, each with your own way of life. But from today, you will live together under one roof, living as ‘us’. So please, learn to acknowledge each other’s differences and find harmony. May you become a wise couple who deepen your understanding through love, respect, and constant dialogue, and who overcome difficult moments together through shared deliberation.
There is one more thing I wish you to remember: never forget to hold sincere gratitude in your hearts for the parents of both families who have raised the groom and bride with such devotion up to this very moment. True filial piety in life is living well and doing your utmost to carve out your own place in the world. Please remember that the very act of the bride and groom diligently living in their respective roles and building a happy home is the greatest gift you can give your parents.
Finally, I earnestly urge you to become a wise and steadfast couple who can turn any moment of crisis in your future life into an opportunity for growth. On this beautiful day, as you stand at the new starting point of your lives, I pray that infinite blessings and happiness accompany your future. May God’s grace always be with both families. Thank you.

The Fragrance of Love

Today, I sincerely congratulate Mr. ○○○ and Ms. ○○○ on their marriage.
As someone who has watched over you both for a long time, I consider it a great blessing that two people who complement each other so well have come together to share this meaningful day. On behalf of the bride and groom, I extend my deepest gratitude to all the guests who honored us with your presence to celebrate their marriage, to the parents of both families who raised them with such care, and to all the relatives and friends who joined us today.
Today, the couple takes their first steps in life under the new name of husband and wife. When they are together, an indescribable, subtle fragrance seems to emanate from them. It is not a physical scent like perfume or flowers. It is the ‘fragrance of love’ born from cherishing and loving each other, and from consideration. That warm heart is felt without words, a sincerity conveyed simply by looking at them.
They are people who cherish and love each other more than anyone else, possessing generous hearts that know how to share that love with the world. Even before marriage, they participated together for a long time in volunteer work for elderly people living alone, becoming a steadfast support for each other even in difficult circumstances. Their warm deeds, carried out silently, will deepen and broaden further through today’s marriage.
Moving forward, just as they have done until now, they will care for lonely seniors with love and devotion, becoming like children to them. Furthermore, I have no doubt they will build a beautiful home of their own, raise children overflowing with love, and share a life warmer and happier than anyone else’s. The fragrance emanating from them will spread to more and more people, enveloping our surroundings in warmth.
It is truly a source of pride that such wonderful individuals are among us, and I am immensely happy to celebrate their marriage together. I sincerely hope that the fragrance of love blossoming from the two of you today permeates the homes of everyone gathered here, spreading as a happy energy.
I sincerely wish that you will always look at each other with hearts as warm and fragrant as they are now, building a beautiful home together.
Once again, I offer my heartfelt congratulations on your marriage.

To the couple embarking on their journey with love

First, I extend sincere congratulations to both sets of parents on this joyous occasion. I also convey deep gratitude, on behalf of the bride and groom, to all relatives and guests who graciously attended despite your busy schedules.
There is a Russian proverb that says: “Pray once when you go to sea, pray twice when you go to war, and pray three times when you get married.” This saying underscores how marriage is such a careful and momentous decision in life. Indeed, marriage is a turning point in life and one of the most precious choices. Today, the bride and groom, taking their first steps as husband and wife through this precious choice, truly deserve our heartfelt congratulations and blessings. We take this opportunity to wish their future filled with love and harmony, and that their presence in each other’s lives will always be a source of joy throughout all the time they share together. We also hope that the blessings of everyone gathered here today become a warm source of strength for their new beginning.
Living as husband and wife is not simply the act of marriage itself, but the process of sharing each other’s lives and achieving harmony. The most crucial elements for a happy married life are ‘mutual respect’ and ‘a harmonious relationship’. Until now, the two have grown up in different environments and with different values, but from today, they begin a new life together within the same home. Two people from different backgrounds coming together to form a family and spend their lives together is never an easy task. Therefore, what is most needed between them is ‘understanding,’ ‘consideration,‘ and ‘a heart that cherishes each other.’
Life will bring many joyful and happy moments, but sometimes unexpected difficulties will also arise. In such times, remember this Western proverb: “This too shall pass.” — “이 또한 지나가리라.” This brief phrase holds the profound insight that every moment in life eventually passes. It is a phrase that offers humility in joy and courage in sorrow. By enduring and overcoming any moment together, the couple’s love will only grow stronger.
Finally, I have a request for all the guests gathered here today. We have come together to celebrate the beginning of this couple’s journey. But I ask that your blessings extend beyond this day. Please continue to offer them your ongoing care, affection, and warm encouragement as they build a beautiful and strong family together. Though they may still be inexperienced and imperfect, your support and advice will be a great strength to them.
Once again, let us offer heartfelt applause to the bride and groom as they embark on this new journey of marriage today. May every day ahead be filled with love, and may each moment bring gratitude and happiness to one another. With this, I conclude my brief remarks. Thank you for your attention.

Happiness begins with understanding

To the parents of the bride and groom and all the guests gathered here today, our earnest prayers must have reached the heavens, for despite the typhoon forecast, we have been gifted this clear and beautiful day. As the officiant, I first offer my deepest gratitude.
The most nervous people here today are probably the bride and groom standing before us. To help ease the tension a bit, I’ll pose a simple quiz. “Where is the most beautiful sea in the world?”
The answer is “I love you.”
Right now, would you whisper it gently to the person beside you? “I love you.” Say it softly, and you’ll feel the atmosphere around you warmly transform.
Honestly, when I was asked to speak here, I hesitated, thinking I had nothing special to say. But I gladly accepted, thinking that sometimes, the words of someone like a neighborly uncle—someone a bit different from the families the bride and groom grew up in—might be needed. It’s also my firm belief that a healthier society is built not by people only associating with those similar to themselves, but by interacting with those who are different.
There’s a saying: “When three people walk together, one of them is surely my teacher.” Another goes: “Always befriend those better than yourself.” Here, ‘better’ doesn’t simply mean more educated, wealthier, or more powerful. If that were the case, we’d only associate with those one step above us. But I interpret it this way: There is something to learn from everyone, and everyone has aspects that are better than mine. The meaning is to recognize that and make that person your friend. The discernment to recognize that is precisely ‘wisdom’.
I hope the bride and groom here today will discover many of each other’s strengths and, through that, build an even deeper and more beautiful relationship. Of course, becoming a couple doesn’t mean only good things will happen. Living together will bring misunderstandings, and sometimes you’ll cause each other stress. Stress isn’t always bad; it can be a good stimulus that helps both of you grow. But excessive stress is definitely a problem.
So, why does stress arise? In my view, it often stems from the belief that ‘I am right.’ The moment you believe only you are right, conflict deepens and hearts close. Conversely, a more flexible attitude—thinking “You might be right” or “Your perspective seems more valid”—reduces unnecessary clashes and actually strengthens relationships. To the couple marrying today and everyone gathered here, I hope you often experience the realization that the other person might be more right. This is the surest way to build healthy relationships, not just between spouses but in all human connections.
This gathering today is a blessing in itself. The newlywed couple and all who have come to celebrate them are sharing beautiful affection with one heart and one mind. May you hold onto the pure hearts and warm energy of this moment for a long time. And I sincerely wish that good fortune always accompanies all of your lives.
Thank you.

Hold a heart that loves and cares for your partner

The queen of seasons, fresh May. On a day as sunny as today, the groom and bride have gathered their beloved family, friends, relatives, colleagues, seniors, and juniors to begin their beautiful journey together in life, making this occasion truly meaningful. I stand here not merely as the officiant, but as the groom’s senior colleague and a senior in life, trembling with emotion as I carefully yet sincerely seek to add the fragrance of love to their journey.
To all the guests who have graced this occasion with your presence despite your busy schedules to bless the couple’s future, I extend my deepest gratitude on behalf of both families. No matter how well-crafted a wedding speech may be, it can never replace the warm encouragement and heartfelt congratulations from all of you gathered here today. Nevertheless, as someone who has walked this path before them, I wish to share a few thoughts I feel compelled to convey to the couple standing at this new starting point in their lives.
First and foremost, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the groom and bride. May you walk together through the years ahead, becoming each other’s warm comfort and source of joy. And someday, far in the future, if someone asks, “If you were reborn, could you love the same person again?” I sincerely hope you can answer without hesitation: “Because you were my guiding light in this harsh world, I would choose to be with you again.” May your journey together be one of such faith and love.
And there is one thing I must urge you both to do. Please hold onto a ‘gentle heart’. Gentleness isn’t merely softness; it stems from a deep heart that cares for and loves the other. For example, if I want meat but my partner wants noodles, choosing noodles without hesitation is that consideration. And valuing the warm happiness felt while sharing noodles together more than the fullness of meat—that is gentleness. Rather than impressing each other with grand gestures, may you become a thoughtful and warm husband and wife who prioritize caring for one another in even the smallest things. Such hearts, accumulated day by day, will make your daily life truly rich and beautiful.
These days, it’s said that wedding speeches should be short and concise. I too will conclude my remarks here accordingly. Yet I have strived to imbue these brief words with deep meaning. Groom and Bride, as husband and wife, I ask that you respect and understand each other, always helping and loving one another, faithfully fulfilling the responsibilities and duties entrusted to you. Please cherish and keep the vows you read today until the end, and hold onto the noble and solemn spirit you felt in this moment for the rest of your lives.
Finally, there is something I wish to say to both of you. From this day forward, may you become a single candle illuminating each other’s lives, shining upon one another like an eternal lamp that never flickers out, no matter how many years pass. With this sincere wish that you live such a life together—a life shared by a single flame for a lifetime—I conclude this wedding address.
Thank you.

Please be considerate of each other

Today, these two young and beautiful individuals have chosen marriage, one of life’s most important decisions. At this very moment, their hearts are likely overflowing with excitement and anticipation. I sincerely hope that excitement and emotion endure for a long time.
Marriage is not merely a single day’s event, but the beginning of a journey to walk together through countless days ahead. As they embark on this journey, the couple will have countless thoughts. They do now, and they will continue to do so. Among these, the question, “Can I love just one person for a lifetime?” is one that everyone might ponder at least once.
The world holds many forms of love: unconditional love, tender love, love that is poor yet true, and even love that can be selfish yet selfless at the same time. Among these, the love between parents and children is undoubtedly unconditional. Reflecting on the boundless affection parents bestow upon their children, one can say that eternal love truly exists in this world.
Yet even such love requires mutual care and effort to endure. Eternal love isn’t simply given; it springs from a steadfast commitment to respect and understand each other in every moment. If a couple can look beyond external circumstances, see each other’s inner selves, respect and consider one another, cherish and yield to each other—couldn’t that be called true love?
When first falling in love, everyone holds great expectations and excitement for a future together. Simply being together brings joy; even brief separations bring waves of longing, ultimately creating a desire to always be by each other’s side. Thus, love always begins beautifully.
But as time passes and married life stretches into 10, 20, 30 years, that initial excitement turns into familiarity, and you face the reality of arguing over trivial matters. Sometimes you even wonder, “Why did I marry this person?” This might sound a bit heavy to newlyweds just starting out. But please understand that all these words carry a sincere wish for you to wisely overcome such realities.
Life isn’t always filled with good things. Sometimes unexpected difficulties arise. Yet, like the proverb “After the rain, the ground hardens,” enduring tough times together builds stronger faith and love. If you look at each other with the mindset that when I am struggling, so is my partner, and when I am at ease, so is my partner, you will surely reap the beautiful fruit of a lifelong union.
Even when difficult moments arise, I hope you will hold onto warm consideration, remembering only the good times and offering your partner a bright smile. Living with such a mindset will allow you to always maintain a harmonious home and a marriage filled with love.
May this fluttering heart of yours remain forever unchanged. Look in the same direction, share the same thoughts, and no matter what happens, always stand by your spouse’s side to become a true companion in life. Until the moment your hearts stop beating, do not hold back your loving feelings. If you constantly care for each other and grow together, your family will truly be beautiful and radiant, enduring for a long time.

Do not try to change each other

First, on this joyous occasion, I congratulate the two of you standing at the starting line of a new chapter in life, and I extend heartfelt congratulations to both sets of parents. Furthermore, on behalf of the bride and groom, I express deep gratitude to all the relatives and guests who took the time to attend despite your busy schedules.
A few days ago, I cautiously asked the bride and groom. I was curious about their feelings now, as they approach marriage, and what led them to this significant decision. They replied, “We’ve come to believe we can laugh together, share hardships, support each other’s dreams, and cherish them.” The warm trust and anticipation contained in that brief answer will surely be a solid foundation for the path they walk together in life.
Holding onto that very belief, I sincerely wish for the two of you to cherish this moment forever and build a happy home and successful careers together. And with the hope that your married life will be even more harmonious and mature, I would like to offer a few pieces of advice.
Above all, practice ‘consideration’. When drawn to each other and falling in love, it’s natural to expect that the other’s strengths will make your life happier. However, the power that completes love is not passion, but ‘consideration’. True happiness doesn’t end with enjoying the other’s strengths. Rather, it is when you can warmly embrace even their weaknesses that love truly deepens and becomes steadfast. The heart that acknowledges and embraces each other’s differences—that heart is the most powerful force that keeps a couple’s relationship beautiful for a long time.
The second request is to become each other’s ‘manager’. A competent manager does not try to change the members. Rather than fixating on shortcomings, they strive to leverage each person’s strengths to achieve greater results. The same applies to marriage. Instead of trying to change your partner to fit your ideal, learn to enjoy and respect them as they are. It’s also crucial to avoid making excessive demands for what the other cannot provide or creating situations that inevitably lead to friction. If you keep this mindset, the ‘company called family’ you build together will operate with teamwork stronger than any other.
One final request: always remember that a married couple is not one mind and body, but “two minds and two bodies.” Though united by love, you remain independent beings with distinct values and thoughts. Acknowledging and respecting these differences fosters a healthy marriage. Don’t be disappointed or hurt by differences; instead, embrace the diversity and freshness they bring. Do not try to make your partner act like you, or impose your own standards of what is right. Instead, the effort to understand your partner’s thoughts and feelings, and the mature attitude of seeking balance within that understanding, will deepen the trust between you.
Today, in this place, the bride and groom have pledged their love to each other before their parents and cherished guests. Now, the two of you begin a new journey to complete that love. Throughout life’s long journey, the couple’s love will guide them through countless challenges. It will be the light illuminating dark times and the strength transforming despair into hope.
May these three pieces of advice I offer—be considerate of each other, be your spouse’s partner, and respect that you are two individuals—be engraved in your hearts for every moment you walk together in life. May this advice serve as a small guidepost, and may your home always be filled with love and peace.
Once again, congratulations on this beautiful wedding today. I wish you both a future filled with blessings. Thank you.

Strive to think according to each other’s standards

We sincerely congratulate Mr. ○○○ and Ms. ○○○ on their marriage. We deeply thank all the guests who joined us on this meaningful day, and on behalf of the bride and groom, we extend our gratitude to both sets of parents and relatives who raised them so wonderfully. Now, surrounded by the blessings of all present, they have formally become husband and wife. Once again, let us offer warm applause for their future and extend our heartfelt congratulations to the newlyweds.
As a senior celebrating my ○○th wedding anniversary this year, I would like to take this opportunity to offer a small piece of advice. Having grown up in different environments, the two of you must have faced countless worries, conflicts, and various barriers before your paths crossed and you became husband and wife. Yet, the very fact that you stand here together today, having overcome all those barriers, speaks volumes about how deeply you have understood and strived for each other. However, marriage is not an end but a new beginning. Countless challenges and moments of conflict will come your way after marriage. In fact, even higher walls may block your path than those you’ve faced before.
Marriage isn’t simply about gaining independence from one’s parents and establishing one’s own household. It signifies leaving the family one previously belonged to while simultaneously becoming part of a new family. For instance, from a mother’s perspective, her daughter-in-law is entering ‘her sphere of life,’ while the woman about to become a wife sees it as establishing an independent household. This naturally leads to differences in perspective and misunderstandings, which can easily escalate into conflict. The starting point for such conflicts often stems from one’s own standards. When faced with a situation, we tend to judge it based on our pre-established framework of ‘normal’ and ‘common sense’. When we cling to these standards, hurtful words or actions can emerge, and the discomfort deepens.
At such times, it’s necessary to take a step back and reflect on whether one’s own standards are truly ‘absolute’. Acknowledging that these standards may be solely one’s own thoughts, and letting them go, is where true understanding and consideration begin. The eyes that seek to see into the other’s heart, the attitude that tries to think from their perspective, become the most crucial keys in married life. Two people who have lived in different environments for a long time cannot possibly share the same standards and thoughts. Therefore, what matters even more is not forcing the other to conform to my standards, but rather making the effort to try to align myself with theirs. From that moment, many misunderstandings diminish, and conflict can transform into understanding.
Ultimately, marriage is a single world created together by two different people. Within it, countless problems and solutions ultimately depend on oneself. If you constantly strive to understand each other, and respect and cherish each other to the very end, you will live as a happier couple than anyone else. And someday, you will be remembered as a couple who set an example for all.
Here today, I pray that your future is always filled with warm sunshine. With that, I conclude my words as officiant. Thank you.

The Preciousness of Shared Time

I sincerely congratulate and bless the sacred marriage of the groom and bride. On behalf of both families, I extend our deepest gratitude to all the guests who attended today despite your busy schedules and the cold weather to share in blessing their future.
Today is a meaningful day as the bride and groom become one and form a new family. I would like to offer a few words of advice to the couple as they begin this beautiful journey. Above all, cherish a heart of love and respect for each other. May that love grow deeper as time passes. The Bible states, “Love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” May you live out this love, understanding and caring for each other.
May you also become each other’s ‘happiness makers’. May the groom be the one who brings joy to the bride, and the bride the one who brings joy to the groom. May you build a life together filled with laughter and joy, living happily ever after. John McCormick, the 41st Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, reportedly shared dinner with his wife every single day for 41 years after their marriage. Even during work, whenever he had a moment, he would jot down topics to make his wife happy, then share joyful conversations with her after work. One day, when his secretary asked, “How were you able to have dinner together every single evening for so many years?”, he replied, “My grandfather and father lived that way, and I simply practiced what I learned. The time I spend with my wife is the happiest time for me.”
In the same way, may you both remember that through your marriage today, you have become one body. May you cherish the time you spend together above all else. That time will make your love deeper and stronger.
Finally, I extend my gratitude to the parents of both families who have made this occasion possible. Seeing that you have such wonderful sons and daughters must make you feel so secure and proud. May God’s grace, health, and abundant blessings be with all the families of the guests attending today. And please send your warm prayers and support so that these two may live happily together from now on. Thank you.

Love as You Are

Today is the day a good man and a wise woman meet to build a healthy family. Today is the most magical day in the world, the moment when the miracle of love becomes reality. Among billions and billions of people, for one man and one woman to recognize each other and fall in love is nothing short of astonishing and mysterious, more so than any other miracle. The bond that brings these two people together to form a family, meeting as if by miracle, is not a simple encounter—it is truly an art.
Every being in this world is precious and beautiful in itself. People are no different. To see and love the other just as they are, with their natural appearance—that itself is the true beginning of love. If one day, while living, you suddenly feel that the person beside you no longer seems beautiful or lovable, it is probably not because they have changed, but because your own gaze, your own heart, has grown rough and dim. You may have lost the eyes that see beauty.
So live as you are, and love and respect each other passionately just as you are. That is the greatest gift we can give each other, and the way to keep our love lasting. And I urge the groom: Love your wife desperately, risking your life for her and for the family you will build together. If you live such a life, the emotion of this beautiful day will not be confined to just today—every day will become a dazzling day like today.
You may have lived freely according to your own will until now, but from this day forward, live a life that brings your wife joy. Dream together of the life she desires, and become someone who sees her smile more often. That is true happiness, and the most precious path you will walk together in life.
Blessing the love of the couple who are now becoming husband and wife, I ask of all of you gathered here today. Today, I ask each of you to be a witness to this vow of love. Your voices will be the witnesses to this marriage and its greatest blessing.

“Love each other to death.”
“Love each other with all your life.”
“Love each other just as you are, with all your flaws.”

With that, I conclude the ceremony. I sincerely wish that love and peace always accompany the couple in their future.
