Growth Process

“The early bird catches the worm.”
Since childhood, I enjoyed breathing in the dawn air and developed the habit of waking up earlier than anyone else. At a time when even my parents were still in dreamland, I would quietly wash up alone, leave the house on an empty stomach, and deeply inhale the morning air. In the clear, tranquil atmosphere unique to that hour, I often felt inexplicably uplifted and experienced a sense of mental clarity.
Naturally, I became the student who arrived at school first every day. While this was simply something I enjoyed doing, before I knew it, I began to be seen as a model student in the teachers’ eyes. Without any particular ambition, the teachers sought me out first, and that attention made me act with even greater responsibility. I often encountered the security guard who stood watch at the school gate early in the morning, and when I had time to spare, I would help him with his work. Thanks to that, he took a liking to me. He’d give me leftover school supplies, and I remember him even making me a table because he was so skilled.
That habit of starting my day early naturally led me to become a student leader. Standing in a position to guide others often, I ended up becoming class president and eventually even student council president. It was simply ‘moving early,’ but I could feel firsthand how that small habit fostered my growth and created opportunities. From then on, I held the belief that ‘those who rise early and move first will surely gain something extra.’
This habit continues to this day. Without anyone telling me to, I wake up at 5 a.m. every morning to start my day. Even after joining the company, I became the first to arrive at work. Thanks to this, my superiors often trust and recognize me.
Today, I live deeply appreciating the positive impact that ‘a life of moving early’ has given me more than anyone else. I believe it’s not just a simple habit, but a major asset that has helped me grow. And I am confident that this habit will continue to be an important foundation that makes my life even stronger.

School Days

“Leadership Cultivated Through Sports”
I was originally a passive and quiet child. I spent more time alone than socializing with friends, and arriving early at school was my only routine. Then, I caught the attention of my physical education teacher, which led me to start track and field.
Truthfully, I loved running. While I admired the track team’s cool uniforms, I can’t deny that the bread provided during lunch breaks was also a big draw. That’s how I got started, and I continued through my sophomore year of high school. Since I wasn’t aiming to be a professional athlete, balancing it with my studies wasn’t too difficult, but the training intensity was quite high. After a day of practice, I’d collapse as if my whole body was drained.
But through those times of running and colliding with others, I could temporarily escape the hardships of my poor family situation and various difficult circumstances. Gradually, I began to think more positively, and before I knew it, I was transforming into a cheerful and energetic kid. Above all, the strong bonds with my seniors had a profound impact. While the discipline was strict, within the warm embrace of seniors who looked out for and supported me, I slowly learned how to connect with the world. My once introverted self faded away, and I became someone who could speak up and face the world.
As a result of this transformation, I was able to take on roles like head of discipline, class president, and eventually even school president. Standing before people no longer frightened me, and I learned how to work with others responsibly. Looking back, through track and field, I gained something beyond mere physical strength. It was leadership and the power to grow alongside others.

Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality

“People are the most important thing in the world.”
This statement embodies my core values and best reflects my character. I place great importance on people. I believe this is the greatest strength of my personality.
This conviction has deepened through my professional life. In a society focused on ability, we often overlook the element of ‘people’. However, I have lived with the visceral understanding that people are ultimately at the beginning and end of everything. I understand well that whether it’s to do a job well or to achieve better results, the most crucial key is always ‘relationships with people’.
That’s why I always strive to treat my colleagues and juniors with genuine sincerity. I especially try to be more considerate and respectful towards those who may seem passive or unassuming on the surface. I believe that person could one day become a valuable partner to me.
Moreover, I’ve felt this deeply every time I faced hardship. What truly protected me wasn’t money or status. The hardest moments weren’t when I was swamped with work, but when I was emotionally drained. And each time, it was people with warm hearts who lifted me up. That’s why I cherish relationships with good people and strive to build lasting friendships with those who will stay by my side.
Of course, this tendency hasn’t always led to good outcomes. As much as I trust and follow people easily, I also have the flaw of struggling to refuse requests. Trying to understand someone’s situation once led me to lend money and suffer significant losses. That incident taught me I also needed to learn ‘how to say no’. Especially after advancing in my career, I came to recognize the reality that I couldn’t grant every request. Now, I practice drawing firm boundaries depending on the situation. It’s still not easy, but I’m learning to value people while also protecting myself.
If my heart toward others is my strength, then the emotional vulnerability that comes with it is a challenge I must overcome. However, I believe that through this entire process, I am gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to be human and building more mature relationships. Moving forward, I want to maintain my core value of prioritizing people while finding a better balance within that.

Career History (or experience demonstrating job capabilities)

“Skills Developed Through Administrative Work Experience”
I began my career as an administrative staff member at a marketing company. My responsibilities extended beyond basic clerical tasks to encompass the entire spectrum of sales operations, including online and offline marketing, and even directly concluding contracts through meetings with clients. As part of a small startup organization, I worked in an environment where there was no clear division between ‘my job’ and ‘your job’. I took full responsibility for my duties, sometimes working through the night, driven by a sense of mission to grow the company together.
As the company gradually expanded and stabilized, I developed a desire to work in a more systematic and larger organization. This led me to join the Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) as an administrative staff member. There, I handled contract and copyright management tasks. Frequently visiting law offices to resolve related disputes naturally built my legal knowledge. This experience gave me the ability to understand and review contract contents more accurately.
Furthermore, the practical experience gained at my previous marketing company enabled me to communicate smoothly with diverse stakeholders and build trust. This network of contacts quickly translated into tangible work results, playing a significant role in successfully concluding various contracts.
Handling tasks involving money instilled in me an even more meticulous work ethic. From processing expense vouchers to managing payroll, I meticulously handled every detail. Grounded in a sense of responsibility to avoid errors, I established myself as a trusted team member.
Through this series of experiences, I developed the ability to organically handle diverse tasks, drive results based on relationships, and cultivate practical skills rooted in meticulousness and accountability.
Now, I wish to apply my capabilities in an environment demanding more aggressive marketing and sales strategies. This is why I am applying to the challenging stage that is SK Innovation. Building on the practical experience, attitude, and flexible communication skills I developed at my previous workplace, I aim to adapt quickly to new environments and deliver outstanding results.

Self-Development

“Strengthening my credentials through language skill development”
After deciding I wanted to apply to SK Innovation, I carefully reviewed past job postings and reached one crucial conclusion: That was the need for ‘diversifying language capabilities’.
SK Innovation is a company with world-class technological capabilities in the energy sector. Given its active import and export activities targeting overseas markets, I gained the impression that it is a company that highly values language skills. I realized that it’s not just about technical expertise; one must also possess strengths in global business communication.
From that point on, I began focusing intensely on improving my language abilities. After work, I started attending an English academy in the evenings. Through consistent study, I obtained TOEIC and TOEFL scores. To further develop my English speaking skills, I enrolled in a specialized speaking academy. Finding the learning process enjoyable, I naturally challenged myself to take on a third foreign language: Chinese.
I began learning Chinese step by step from the basics at a Chinese academy and have now obtained a Chinese proficiency certificate. Although my current level is still low, I plan to continue studying with the goal of reaching a higher level and striving to achieve fluency in conversation.
Moving forward, my plan is not to study merely for ‘specs,’ but to continue developing my language capabilities to grow into a global talent with practical communication skills. I believe language is the bridge connecting technology and markets, and I am confident that the process of building this bridge firmly will ultimately make my future more solid.

Motivation for Application and Aspirations

“I want to grow together. I want to embrace a bigger world.”
SK Innovation is a company that never stops evolving. It continuously strives for new energy development technologies and boldly pursues research for innovation. Despite already leading the industry, it refuses to rest on its laurels and keeps challenging itself – an attitude I deeply respect. I resonate with your company’s vision of advancing toward the future, which is why I am applying.
I understand your company is seeking talent to grow together as you expand into the global market. I am confident I am the right person for that role.
My strengths are diligence and composure. I start my day earlier than most and have consistently pursued challenges without failure through thorough preparation. I believe this attitude will be a significant asset in pioneering new markets. Furthermore, I maintain my center without being swayed by emotions, steadfastly giving my best effort in any situation.
If given the opportunity, I will prove myself through action, not words. Thank you.
