In this blog post, we explore how to effectively showcase practical skills and major-related competencies in your resume when applying to semiconductor/mobile-focused companies like KairoNet, based on experience in mobile app development and QA projects.
Growth Journey
“Everything comes at a cost.”
Born as the eldest son in a family of one son and one daughter, I grew up under the steadfast protection of my father and the warm embrace of my mother. As a child, I was incredibly curious. I had a strong tendency to take apart anything that caught my eye—toys, household appliances, you name it—often breaking perfectly good things in the process.
Whenever that happened, my mother would caution me about the value of things, but she also praised my dexterity and encouraged me. My father, on the other hand, would help me take things apart. Rather than stifling my curiosity, he respected it. However, putting the disassembled items back together was always my responsibility. “You must pay the price for your actions.” My father’s words resonated deeply with me as a child. So I had to fix broken things on my own. Sometimes I managed to get them working again, but other times they were completely ruined.
Through repeating these experiences, I naturally learned to take responsibility for my actions and developed the independence to solve problems on my own.
Later, during my military service, I faced a new challenge when my role changed from administrative soldier to assistant instructor. This unexpected shift felt unfamiliar and difficult at first, but driven by the desire to perform my duties well, I spared no time, preparing and working hard even at night. Amidst rigorous training, I maintained the dignity of an assistant instructor and thoroughly executed my responsibilities, earning positive evaluations from my officers. As time passed, I was entrusted with the role of assistant squad leader. My performance in this role was also highly evaluated, leading to the achievement of receiving a commendation and award leave.
Thus, from a young age, I learned responsibility and independence through hands-on experience. These values have only solidified further through diverse experiences, including my military service. Moving forward, I intend to approach any task with a mindset of taking personal responsibility and faithfully fulfilling the roles assigned to me.
Personality Introduction
“Essential Qualities for a Developer”
I approach every task with a thorough sense of responsibility and demonstrate exceptional focus once I begin. Once immersed in any task, I won’t let go until it’s completed. For instance, during a circuit design class in college, I was so engrossed in my work that I didn’t even notice a friend sitting next to me trying to talk to me. I was so oblivious to my surroundings that I didn’t notice the class had ended, and my friends even teased me, saying, “Aren’t you focusing a bit too hard?”
I also possess the perseverance and tenacity to achieve any goal I set my mind to. After returning to school, I gained significant weight due to a relaxed lifestyle and felt I had become lazy. I resolved that this couldn’t continue and set a goal to lose weight. After consistently exercising for two hours daily, combining weight training and jogging, I successfully lost about 10kg. I’ve maintained this exercise routine throughout my school life and continue to practice consistent self-management to this day.
I believe this sense of responsibility, high concentration, and persistent attitude are essential qualities for a developer. Developers must constantly solve problems, focus meticulously on even the smallest errors, and possess the tenacity to complete projects with long-term endurance. Thanks to these traits, I am cultivating my skills as a developer and will continue to develop these values further.
Major and School Days
“Research on Efficient Mobile Game Development”
From a young age, I had an exceptional curiosity about machines. Particularly, the advancement of mobile technology, which over time enabled most tasks to be performed without a desktop computer, sparked even greater interest and curiosity in me. This interest naturally led me to major in Information and Communication Engineering. Through my major courses, I gained a deep understanding of the structure and operating principles of communication networks and network systems, broadening my comprehension of communication systems as a whole. Because it was a field that genuinely interested me, I could naturally focus on my studies. As a result, I consistently worked hard to maintain my grades, earning scholarships every semester.
Beyond academics, I actively participated in ICT-related exhibitions and various events. This allowed me to experience firsthand the evolving technology trends and industry shifts centered around smartphones, striving to bridge the gap between practical work and academic theory. Seeing and experiencing technologies used in real-world settings, rather than merely studying textbook knowledge, deepened my affection for my major.
One memorable moment from my student days was a statement made by a professor I deeply respected during a lecture: “People are wealth, not money.” At the time, I didn’t fully grasp the depth of those words. However, when my grandfather passed away a year ago, their meaning resonated deeply within me. Many people came to pay their respects at the funeral home, and the warm condolences from friends and acquaintances provided immense strength, helping me overcome the grief. Through that experience, I directly felt the truth of the saying ‘people are wealth,’ and it made me feel grateful once again for the precious people now by my side.
During my master’s program, I participated in an Android-based mobile application development project. I primarily handled QA (Quality Assurance) tasks to enhance the completeness of mobile games. My role involved analyzing and improving whether core game software functions worked properly, if users encountered any inconveniences while enjoying the game, and identifying elements that hindered enjoyment. Throughout this process, I personally tested the game on various smartphone devices to identify and fix errors. I also focused on improving the game’s overall process by analyzing its functional strengths and weaknesses compared to similar genre games. Building on this experience, I wrote and submitted a thesis titled “Research on Efficient Mobile Game Development Methods,” which led to my master’s degree.
What enabled this academic journey, which began with a simple fascination with machines, to evolve into research that understands and proposes solutions for real-world industry challenges was, above all, an attitude of constantly learning and seeking experience. Even now, technological change remains rapid, and there is much to learn. However, I believe the time spent contemplating and researching within that flow of change will form a solid foundation for the path ahead.
Life Motto
“Until you succeed, it’s a series of failures.”
Rarely does anything succeed on the first try. Even when a baby takes its first steps, it must endure thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of falls and failures before finally standing on its own two feet. We simply don’t remember those times; we’ve all lived lives of learning and growing through failure. That’s why I don’t fear failure. Failure isn’t just about falling down; it’s the process of getting back up and moving forward, and I believe that’s where real learning begins.
I think failure should be a familiar and even friendly presence, especially for developers. Just as we made countless mistakes learning to ride a bike or solve puzzles as children, we still find better paths through failure today. However, while all those mistakes were accepted as natural and inevitable when we were children, as we grow older, the tendency to fear or hide failure seems to intensify. I don’t think that’s necessary. Success achieved without experiencing failure is rare, and I believe that the more failure experiences we accumulate, the closer we get to a more solid success. While it would be nice if we could shorten the process of failure, I don’t consider it something to be ashamed of. I believe that facing failure head-on, rather than turning away from it, ultimately leads to better outcomes.
