This blog post introduces resume writing strategies focused on the traits and experience factors banks prioritize when hiring experienced professionals.
Growth Process
I grew up alongside my twin sister from birth. Though we were born just one minute apart, to me, she was more than just family—she was my closest friend and mentor in life. As children, we were always inseparable, feeling as though we couldn’t do anything without each other. We wanted to do everything together and naturally grew up sharing everything.
Our tastes were similar, so we often chose similar items or clothes. We understood each other so well that we could know what the other was thinking without even speaking. Seeing us like this, our parents tried even harder to raise us with care. Even amidst busy routines, they treasured Sundays as family time. Though infrequent, family trips or picnics by the nearby river helped us naturally feel the preciousness of family.
One scene remains vividly in my memory. When my sister and I played together, passing adults would often find us adorable and affectionately pat us on the head. Thanks to that, we have many memories of receiving tasty snacks from various people. Those childhood memories are always filled with warmth and laughter.
That childhood experience gave me the solid foundation of a ‘family’ and naturally taught me trust and consideration between people. Especially through many conversations with my parents, I learned the attitude of listening attentively and developed the habit of considering others’ perspectives. As these experiences accumulated, I gradually gained the ability to listen to others’ stories and empathize, and I believe I developed balanced social skills and a free way of thinking.
Even now, my sister and I cheer each other on in life, serving as each other’s steadfast supporters. We’ve always cherished one another, becoming the first to reach out a hand during difficult times. Now, that warm bond extends beyond our private circle, growing into concern and support for others. I believe this attitude was ultimately shaped within the nurturing care of a warm family.
The person I am today, who views the world positively and finds small yet precious values in daily life, has always had family at its core—especially the special time of growth I shared with my sister. Those experiences shaped who I am now, and I believe they will continue to be a warm guiding light illuminating my life’s path.
School Days
During elementary school, I grew up sharing everything with my sister. Naturally, she became my closest friend and steadfast companion. Perhaps because of this, I was somewhat awkward at easily mingling with peers my own age. Especially when I entered middle school and attended a different school from my sister, my personality became more introverted. I lived as a quiet, ordinary student with a low profile.
However, a significant change came in my second year of middle school. After being recommended by my homeroom teacher to become the head of the library club, my relationships with friends began to shift. Books naturally opened doors for conversation, and my shyness gradually diminished. This period marked a turning point, transforming me into a more outgoing person who could interact with others without hesitation.
During high school, I learned responsibility and initiative through various club activities. Receiving two commendations and an award for merit remains a source of great pride and helped build my self-confidence. Of course, behind these changes was always my sister’s unwavering support. Though we attended different schools, her sincere advice and comfort were my most precious source of strength.
Especially during middle school, when I first started school life without my sister, I often faced teasing in unfamiliar surroundings and among new friends. Each time, my sister never spared her heartfelt encouragement, urging me not to give up and to hold onto hope. Without her, I might have easily crumbled.
Even after entering university, my relationship with my sister remained exceptionally close. While focusing on my studies, I often saved money from part-time jobs to travel with her. Those times remain irreplaceable, precious memories for me.
I also genuinely love eating delicious food. Naturally, I built my own ‘list of great restaurants,’ and I felt it was a shame to keep this valuable information to myself, which led me to start a blog. Now, I feel incredibly proud that I can recommend great restaurants to many people and share the joy of good food together.
During my university years, I participated in projects linked to actual banks through club activities related to my major and also gained internship experience. What I learned through hands-on experiences outside of school helped me understand the theories learned in class more vividly and strengthened my confidence in my career path.
Before graduation, I also went on a language study abroad program. Studying directly in a foreign country and conversing with friends of various nationalities was a truly fresh and enjoyable experience, though I did feel homesick in that unfamiliar environment. Ultimately, it made me realize anew just how precious the journey back to my beloved family and familiar daily life truly is.
Thus, my school years were not merely a time for studying, but crucial periods that shaped who I am. From an introverted child to a confident adult, my growth was shaped by many experiences and the support of precious people. I believe all those moments combined have made me who I am today.
Regarding Strengths and Weaknesses
The greatest strength of my personality is that I never lose my sense of gratitude. Modern society moves at a rapid pace and changes constantly, but even within that, I live while preserving my unique individuality and sense of calm. No matter the situation, I never forget my clear life goals. When difficulties arise, I approach them with a positive mindset, believing “I can do this.” This attitude has consistently led to satisfying results.
This approach to life is also why good people are always drawn to me. Friends I’ve known for a long time often tell me they appreciate my bright and positive outlook. They often mention that even tasks that initially felt daunting, when approached with me, lead to a shift in mindset where they start thinking, “Somehow, I feel like I can do this.”
I firmly believe this bright outlook on life and my grateful heart serve as strengths not only in my daily life but also in my social interactions. This personality energizes me and acts as a driving force that spreads positive energy to those around me.
However, this positive nature doesn’t always work solely to my advantage. I tend to trust people easily and believe things will work out, which has sometimes led to being taken advantage of or deceived. It also takes me a while to grasp the essence of a problem, causing me to suffer losses at times.
Nevertheless, I don’t view my positive disposition solely as a weakness. Rather, I believe the benefits it brings far outweigh any drawbacks. When I approach life with gratitude, I find joy in even the smallest things, and my relationships with those around me deepen.
Moving forward, I want to maintain my own bright attitude and positive outlook on life, using it as a foundation to become a stronger person. Sometimes adding caution and balance, I want to prove that the power of positivity makes life richer.
Career Experience (or experiences demonstrating work capabilities)
During my school years, I gained practical negotiation experience by promoting connections with external institutions through my involvement in a finance-related club. The most important lesson I learned during this process was that ‘negotiation must always begin by considering the other party’s perspective.’
As the head of the lecture team within the club, I wanted to try something new that hadn’t been done before. While pondering effective approaches, I recalled that the Deputy Manager I worked with during my internship frequently gave external lectures. I thought sharing vivid stories from a professional actively working in the financial field with our members would significantly enhance learning outcomes.
However, I also worried that contacting someone so busy with their daily work might be an unreasonable request. Then it suddenly occurred to me that during club activities, we needed to guide new members through opening stock accounts. I realized that if we formally entrusted this task to the bank, it would naturally become an opportunity for them to attract new customers.
I organized this idea into a proposal and personally visited the bank to present the possibility of collaboration with the club to the branch manager. Fortunately, the branch manager responded positively to my proposal and actively supported us in establishing a concrete collaboration based on the plan.
As a result, the lecture conducted by the assistant manager was very well-received and concluded successfully. Club members also showed deep interest and enthusiasm for the real-world financial insights shared. After the lecture, the bank expressed that it was highly beneficial and suggested continuing our collaboration in the future.
This experience was a valuable opportunity that went beyond mere external activities, allowing me to cultivate the practical planning and execution skills needed to identify problems and solve them. Particularly, through the process of creating tangible value with a sense of ownership, I deeply realized how crucial a ‘customer-centric’ attitude is.
Building on this experience, I am confident that I can contribute as a capable and responsible individual to promoting the growth and development of KOSDAQ companies, which form a pillar of the Korean economy.
A Maxim and My Life’s Creed
Eleanor Roosevelt once said:
“Every experience that stops us in our tracks and makes us tremble with fear also gives us strength, courage, and confidence. We can tell ourselves, ‘I’ve overcome this fear, so whatever comes next won’t be a problem.’ So do the things you think you can’t do.”
This sentence is a maxim that clearly guides my life. I have always chosen confidence over fear, and challenge over avoidance.
Even when faced with what seems impossible, if you confront it with a positive mindset, you will eventually find yourself having overcome it. The sense of accomplishment and the lessons gained through that process have become the most precious assets in my life.
I strive to live with a grateful heart. I consider the very fact of being alive, being able to work, and having the opportunity to learn a blessing. Therefore, I approach any task with the belief that I can accomplish it. This attitude has driven my continuous growth.
During my time at the bank, I honed my practical skills by handling diverse tasks and cultivated an understanding of people and a considerate approach by interacting with countless customers. Beyond simple financial transactions, I also came to appreciate the importance of building trust-based relationships and solving problems. All these experiences form a solid foundation for my future path.
Moving forward, I will continue to challenge myself without pause. I aim to gain deeper insights through new experiences, view the world with a broader perspective, and constantly expand my horizons.
Challenges sometimes bring fear, but in the moment we overcome that fear, we finally meet our true selves. And I am living my life enjoying that journey.
