My Growth Journey
“The Art of Seeing Things Through”
I live by one life lesson my father taught me: “The art of seeing things through.” My father, a cheerful entrepreneur, runs small but solid factories in both provincial areas and the metropolitan region. He always said, “You must see the end before you begin. That way, there’s nothing to fear or hesitate about.”
At first, this advice didn’t resonate easily, but through various experiences, I came to understand its meaning firsthand. For instance, when I couldn’t sleep the night before an exam due to nerves, instead of worrying, “What if I fail?”, I would deliberately imagine the worst-case scenario where I completely bombed the test. Then, I would ask myself, “Is it really that big of a deal?” Most of the time, I realize that one exam doesn’t determine my entire life, and my heart feels lighter. By letting go of that tension and taking the exam, I’ve often experienced getting better results.
In this way, whenever I start something, I always judge it by imagining the outcome first. Thanks to that, I’ve been able to make bolder decisions and no longer fear new challenges. My decision to go on a month-long missionary trip to Europe as a church scholarship recipient during my sophomore winter was also thanks to this mindset. Though I was practically on the verge of my senior year, I hesitated greatly. But the thought, “Will I ever get another chance like this in my life?” led me to ultimately decide to go to Europe.
That experience gave me more than just a simple visit abroad. Immersed in a new culture and environment, I did a lot of thinking, and that time became a catalyst for seriously contemplating what kind of life I should live. After that, I was able to approach my studies with a much clearer sense of purpose than my peers, learning how to use the same amount of time more valuably and invest it meaningfully.
As a result, I set my sights on ○○ Company relatively early on and began preparing step by step to achieve that goal. The attitude of ‘seeing things through to the end’ remains a core principle for me today, and I intend to continue walking my path unwaveringly based on this principle.
Strengths and Weaknesses of Personality
“I am someone who gains energy through people and grows together with them.”
The greatest strength of my personality is that I gain energy and learn a great deal through relationships with others. People are often categorized as extroverted or introverted, and I am clearly an extrovert. I think more actively and generate diverse ideas when surrounded by people rather than when alone. Consequently, I naturally enjoy collaboration and truly shine when working together.
While majoring in Business Administration with a focus on planning and tackling various assignments, I realized that everyone approaches planning differently. Some prefer writing proposals quietly alone in the library, while others enjoy the process of sharing ideas with others to create better outcomes. I lean toward the latter. I find great joy and a sense of accomplishment in refining plans through brainstorming and discussion with others.
This tendency naturally led me to take on a central role in team projects, ultimately resulting in three awards in planning competitions. Of course, every planner has their own style, but for someone like me who values teamwork and creates synergy through collaboration, I believe I can achieve greater results in a corporate environment through meetings and joint projects.
Additionally, I greatly enjoy learning from people. I particularly value interactions with seniors or experienced individuals. During my university years, I frequently communicated with seniors and learned a great deal. Similarly, the workplace seniors I met through part-time jobs or internships were also invaluable sources of learning for me. I believe this attitude of respecting those above me and seeking learning from them can have a positive impact in organizational life as well.
However, this ‘people-centered’ tendency can sometimes be a disadvantage. I tend to warm up to people quickly and am quite affectionate, which sometimes makes it hard for me to refuse requests. In work situations, this can occasionally distract me or cause me to lose sight of priorities. However, I am fully aware of this tendency. Once I enter a practical role, I will prioritize the tasks at hand and strive to develop the ability to firmly draw boundaries when necessary. By doing so, I aim to enhance my work focus and develop the ability to deliver efficient results.
My greatest strength is my tendency to learn through people and grow by working together. At the same time, I recognize that my affection for people can sometimes be a weakness, so I intend to manage this well and move forward in a direction that maximizes my strengths.
On-Campus and Off-Campus Activities
“Realizing the Importance of Planning While Serving as Club President”
During my university years, serving as president of the campus club ‘Ikkleum’ deeply taught me the importance of planning. ‘Ikkleum’ is a mentoring club operated in partnership with the university’s affiliated middle school, focusing on a program where university students become mentors to middle school students. The core of this club went beyond simple internal activities; it centered on consistently meeting and interacting directly with the middle school students to build lasting relationships. The activity periods varied from six months to a year, making systematic preparation and continuous operation paramount.
During my two years as president, the club had to function not just as a student gathering but like an educational program. We had to balance studies related to education and welfare, select suitable books for mentors, and actually meet with the children to conduct lessons—there was a lot to do, and time was tight. Coordinating members’ schedules, developing educational content, and maintaining ongoing communication with the target students required far more complex and detailed planning than anticipated.
During my first semester as president, my inexperience led to many mistakes. I missed several important deadlines or proceeded with activities inadequately prepared, which sometimes disrupted the entire flow. At that time, I realized it went beyond just ‘I made a mistake.’ I deeply understood that my mistakes could significantly impact the club’s overall credibility and operations. And above all, what weighed most heavily on my mind was the possibility of disappointing the middle school students who trusted and followed us.
After that, I recognized the importance of planning once again and resolved to prepare more thoroughly. The method I chose was creating a schedule. I didn’t just list schedules; I began systematically organizing by setting quarterly goals and creating weekly action plans. Initially, planning took a lot of time and felt unfamiliar, but as time passed, I became more proficient. I even discovered that planning actually reduced my overall work time by more than three times.
This change gave me greater confidence as club president and allowed me to run activities much more smoothly. Furthermore, it created positive synergy in collaboration with club members. With a clear plan, role assignments happened naturally, and members could take on tasks with a sense of responsibility, clearly understanding the goals.
Through this experience, I learned not just ‘how to make plans,’ but how to actualize and lead those plans through collaboration with others. Looking back now, this period was a precious turning point in my life that made ‘planning’ the central axis of my existence. Moving forward, no matter what task I undertake, I intend to prepare thoroughly, plan meticulously, and act responsibly based on this experience.
Self-Development
“A mindset of consistently studying trends and language”
○○ Company is not just a manufacturer of rice cookers; it is a company leading the ‘innovation of rice cookers’. Today, the rice cooker is no longer merely a tool for cooking rice. It has become a core kitchen item equipped with various functions, helping to make all kinds of cooking easier and more convenient. Beyond pioneering innovative functions that redefine the kitchen paradigm, its sophisticated design complements any furniture, capturing consumers’ attention and establishing itself as a coveted item for many.
After deciding to join ○○ Company, I resolved to deeply study the direction this company pursues and its methods of communicating with consumers. I particularly judged that understanding kitchen trends, furniture styles, and overall cooking culture was essential. Therefore, I actively connected with 150 influential bloggers on social media, sharing diverse information and maintaining consistent communication. Most of these individuals are veteran homemakers who often creatively utilize product features beyond what ○○ Company intended. Through conversations with them, I gained access to real user experiences and gained a deeper understanding of diverse consumer needs and everyday trends.
I also believe consistent study of ‘language’ is a crucial pillar of self-development. To become a planner at ○○, a global company expanding worldwide, language proficiency enabling communication with diverse countries is essential. Accordingly, I have consistently studied English, Japanese, and Chinese, and currently possess conversational proficiency in all three languages. My Japanese, in particular, extends to business-level conversation, making it fully applicable in practical work settings.
This combination of trend sensitivity and persistent language learning greatly aids in swiftly responding to shifting market currents and proactively understanding consumer expectations. I believe that to become a member of an innovative company like ○○, one must maintain an attitude of continuous learning in an ever-changing world. To keep advancing step by step toward a broader world, I will never cease studying trends and languages.

As a product planner, I am prepared to start my day earlier than anyone else and stay later, pouring my passion into creating products that are more special and appealing.
Above all, I will not hesitate to get out in the field to meticulously understand consumer needs and stay on top of rapidly changing trends. By personally experiencing and analyzing market trends, I will realize planning that is truly consumer-centric, not merely superficial.
