In this blog post, we explore how applicants with a positive mindset can effectively connect their personality and experiences in an administrative self-introduction letter to present themselves persuasively.
Growth Process
I grew up under my parents’ educational philosophy, which valued ‘finding what one truly wants to do’ as much as academics. Thanks to this, I didn’t experience significant academic stress from a young age. Instead, I naturally explored diverse activities like Go, piano, and swimming, nurturing my own interests and talents. This environment cultivated curiosity and a spirit of challenge within me, significantly shaping my outgoing and proactive personality.
That spirit of challenge continued after entering high school. I joined the school drama club ‘○○○○’. Although my academic workload prevented me from participating directly in drama competitions, the time spent intensely rehearsing plays with seniors and juniors during lunch and evening hours was a valuable experience that allowed me to personally understand the values of ‘cooperation’ and ‘unity’. The process of sweating together, synchronizing our efforts, and completing a scene provided an opportunity to learn communication and responsibility within a community. I believe this experience will greatly help me quickly integrate with colleagues and adapt to work in my future career.
After graduating high school, I chose to retake the college entrance exams for one year to pursue my desired university. During this period, I balanced studying with part-time work, learning to manage my life efficiently within limited time and gaining indirect exposure to diverse aspects of society. Particularly through part-time work, I learned the necessary attitudes, sense of responsibility, and importance of communication in interpersonal relationships. This became an opportunity for me to grow into a mature member of society, extending beyond mere career preparation. Simultaneously, it was a valuable time for deep reflection on the path I wished to pursue.
Thus, from childhood, I cultivated autonomy and a spirit of challenge through diverse activities. My experiences during my school years and the year of retaking the exam allowed me to understand myself more deeply and mature. I believe these growth processes will be a great asset, enabling me to challenge myself without hesitation in new environments and move forward in a better direction.
Personality and Strengths/Weaknesses
The greatest strength of my personality is my positive mindset. I absolutely dislike assuming something won’t work before even trying it. Therefore, when faced with new challenges, I tend to approach them with a “let’s just dive in and see” attitude rather than hesitating. During my sophomore summer break in college, I saw a posting for summer camp assistant teachers at the ○○ City Youth Training Center. Without hesitation, I told my friends I really wanted to apply for this opportunity, but most reacted with concern or negativity about living alone in an unfamiliar environment. However, I wasn’t swayed by their opinions and applied. It turned out to be a valuable experience, allowing me to live with people I’d just met in an unfamiliar place and expand my social circle. I still keep in touch with friends I met at the training center, and I believe that choice was a very meaningful decision for me.
On the other hand, one of my weaknesses is a tendency to become overly immersed in a single task. Once I start something, my focus doesn’t waver until I see it through to the end, which sometimes leads me to neglect other responsibilities. This has occasionally made overall schedule management difficult, but recently I’ve been working on developing the habit of setting priorities and creating systematic plans before starting any task. Through these efforts, I am steering my tendencies in a more positive direction, finding ways to leverage my strength of high concentration while also performing various tasks in a balanced manner.
Thus, my personality is grounded in a positive attitude that does not fear challenges and a high level of immersive concentration. I believe that by recognizing my weaknesses and steadily working to improve them, I demonstrate my own potential for growth.
College Life
Upon entering university, I naturally joined the Catholic club. While many people might assume a ‘Catholic club’ sounds rigid and uninteresting, my actual experience proved otherwise. Our club belonged to the Catholic Federation within the ○○ region, providing ample opportunities to interact with students from various universities. The diverse gatherings with students from different schools and meaningful volunteer activities like ‘Night of Life’ deeply resonated with me and moved me profoundly. It was an experience that went beyond simple religious activities, helping me see the value of life in a new light.
Among these, a particularly memorable moment occurred during my second year in the club. While I had comfortable, familiar relationships with the existing members, the awkwardness with the new members didn’t easily fade. Members were gradually growing bored with the annually repetitive activities, and I sensed the overall atmosphere becoming increasingly listless. While pondering how to make the club a more enjoyable and vibrant space, I came up with the idea of introducing a ‘Manito’ program.
‘Manito’ means ‘secret friend’ in Italian. I decided to adapt this concept for our club activities. First, I prepared a list with all members’ names and had everyone draw randomly. Each person then prayed for or offered small acts of kindness to the person they drew. However, if their identity was revealed, they had to pay a fine. This fine was then given as a gift to the person who participated most diligently. Conversely, a small gift was also prepared for those who participated less actively, as an encouragement, ensuring no one felt left out.
Initially, some members reacted with annoyance or indifference, but I believed this activity would bring positive change and persistently persuaded them. We refined the program through trial and error, and the results were astonishing. After the Manito activity began, new members’ club attendance increased by over 30%, and existing members’ attendance rose by more than 20%. Most importantly, mutual care and consideration flowed naturally, deepening members’ attachment to the club and strengthening the bonds between them.
This experience went beyond simple club activities; it was a valuable time where I learned what role I could play within a community and how to drive positive change. It also solidified my resolve to become someone who, no matter what organization or group I join, observes the relationships and atmosphere among members and seeks ways to grow together. This most meaningful experience during my university years continues to be a significant source of nourishment for me.
Motivation and Aspirations
Studying administration deepened my interest in enhancing organizational efficiency, naturally drawing my attention to general affairs work—one of its practical applications. I believe general affairs plays a crucial role in ensuring stable, overall operational support, enabling companies to grow and develop sustainably. While every department is essential, I felt the general affairs department acts as an invisible pillar, steadfastly supporting the organization. I aspire to grow into a talent who can leverage my knowledge and capabilities within this role to provide tangible support. Therefore, I wish to join ○○○○○ and become a steadfast foundation and indispensable member of the organization.
Should I join ○○○○○, I pledge to uphold three commitments. First, I will never neglect self-development. I believe that ‘not striving is not merely standing still, but falling behind.’ I will hone myself with a mindset of continuous learning and growth, establishing myself as an indispensable person within the organization. Second, I will always approach work with a positive mindset. A company is not a place where individuals work alone, but a community where diverse people come together. I believe that if I always work with bright and positive energy, I can have a good influence on my colleagues. I will always communicate with a cheerful and sincere attitude, striving to be someone who creates synergy through collaboration with colleagues. Third, I will never lose my smile when interacting with customers. I believe the company exists because customers exist. Although the position I applied for may not involve frequent direct contact with external customers, I will always greet visiting customers or employees from partner companies with a warm smile. I believe that every such attitude is a crucial factor in shaping the company’s image.
Based on these commitments, I will dedicate myself fully to my responsibilities at ○○○○○ and strive to be a member who tangibly contributes to the organization’s growth and development. I will always look beyond my assigned role to the company as a whole, working diligently to become a reliable team member who grows together with the company.
