How to Write a Competitive Job Performance Plan for Electrical Lighting Management

This blog post explores how to concretely demonstrate core technical competencies—such as illuminance/luminance analysis, light source selection, and lighting fixture design—in an electrical lighting management job performance plan. It also guides you through effective writing strategies to present lighting environments tailored to a building’s purpose.

Understanding the Institution and Role

I will handle electrical and electronic lighting systems, becoming the person who illuminates the building.
As part of the building’s electrical and electronic lighting management team, I will research and design to create a lighting environment that aligns with the building’s purpose. Within electrical and electronic facility management, lighting management plays a crucial role within the building. Without lighting, both the building’s functionality and the electrical and electronic management functions become useless. The light provided by lighting is thus a fundamental requirement for activities within the building. Therefore, through lighting management, I will strive to ensure the building’s light does not fade and activities within the building do not cease. Furthermore, by understanding spatial elements, I will manage the selection and installation of appropriate lighting to enhance the building’s beauty.

Job Objectives and Implementation Plan

Analyze and Manage Lighting Characteristics

Lighting serves specific roles. Since lighting choices vary based on purpose, we will thoroughly analyze corresponding lighting requirements. Lighting can be categorized into roles that enable work and activities through light, and roles that set the atmosphere. To meet optimal lighting requirements, we must consider appropriate illuminance, luminance, glare, spectral distribution, and the position and shape of lighting fixtures for each location. We will design to consider lighting requirements based on the location, atmosphere, purpose, and factors like cost-effectiveness and maintenance, enabling the selection and installation of appropriate lighting. Furthermore, we will design considering requirements such as light reflection, luminance limitations of light sources, and light pollution, based on spatial characteristics like walls, ceilings, and finishes.

We will establish lighting methods according to purpose

Lighting fixtures vary in selection based on their role and differ in effect depending on their installation location. Therefore, we will thoroughly understand the roles and methods of each lighting type and broaden the possibilities for selection. Specifically, we will examine the light distribution ratio characteristics of the luminous flux emitted by lighting fixtures. We will determine whether direct lighting, semi-direct/semi-indirect lighting, or indirect lighting is appropriate, and select and install lighting accordingly. In lighting design, we will choose fixtures based on location and purpose, selecting lighting that complements the architecture. Additionally, we will consider convenience, potential hazards, and energy-saving economics, incorporating these factors into the lighting installation plan.

We will configure light sources according to purpose

Multiple light sources are used in lighting, and the effects of light on the eyes, the atmosphere created for specific purposes, etc., vary depending on the light source. Therefore, we will distinguish lighting light sources based on their principles, understand their types, and make selections accordingly. We will particularly consider economic factors like luminous efficacy and lifespan when evaluating light sources, and determine the lighting method based on the light source configuration suited to the lighting purpose. We will select light sources by understanding their characteristics, gathering information, and reviewing aspects of cost-effectiveness, maintenance, and energy savings. Furthermore, we will classify and apply the required illuminance for lighting installations according to ○○○ industry standards, and calculate it based on the location and purpose.

Vision and Commitment

We will install and manage lighting according to the building structure, intended use, and location, working diligently to help achieve objectives through light. We will analyze various information and data, evaluate their value, and make informed selections when determining the placement, installation, and purpose of lighting fixtures. We will manage the installed lighting, striving to ensure the building and work environment always radiate light.
