How to Approach a Resume Tailored to Company Needs: What Strategy Should You Use?

This blog post explores how to convincingly weave your experience in thorough self-management and your willingness to perform harmonious roles within an organization into a resume for an administrative position.

My Growth Journey

Unlike me, who only vaguely dreamed of becoming an artist or scientist as a child, my sister was the type who set clear goals for herself with unwavering imagination and determination. Whenever our elders sat us little sisters on their laps and asked with a smile, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” While my answers fluctuated with my interests—president, astronaut, teacher—my sister would articulate with precision when she would graduate college, what she would study, which company she would join, and what specific skills she would cultivate to stand out. She was truly a promising young talent. If there’s a saying that ‘only the prepared seize opportunities,’ my sister was someone who knew how to cultivate herself into a capable talent, possessing qualities and preparedness that set her apart from anyone else.
Whenever I saw our mother diligently preparing meals for our father and taking charge of our upbringing, I sometimes dreamed of becoming a model wife and mother myself. Yet, compared to my sister, I often felt a sense of inadequacy, wondering if my dreams were too meager. Looking back, it was my sister who was extraordinary, able to lay out such a well-organized blueprint for her future from such a young age. And since she inevitably had a significant influence on my self-formation, I always burned with the will to strive so as not to fall behind her. But watching animal programs sparked dreams of becoming a veterinarian or pet shop owner. Attending a music recital with my parents ignited admiration for musicians. or if I happened to stop by a bakery near home, I’d naturally imagine my future surrounded by delicious bread. As someone who could never quite establish a firm goal like my sister, I could only drift aimlessly, swept along by the boundless possibilities I possessed in my childhood.

School Life

How could I develop a clear goal like my sister? Driven by that curiosity, it was a time when I constantly strived to find my own path. My sister had already mapped out her future plans on several sheets of A4 paper from a young age. Fueled by her determination to become a tailor-made talent capable of achieving her desired future, she possessed a nature that never wavered, always giving her all. She wasn’t just fixated on raising scores and getting good grades. She was someone who, with her active energy, constantly paved the way toward her goals—whether it was building language skills, earning volunteer points, cultivating connections, or establishing a reputation within the school.
Watching her like that, I felt anxious that I was falling too far behind in my preparations. This left me no choice but to throw myself into studying blindly to raise my grades. While my sister consistently paid attention to her overall grades and worked to maintain an above-average score, she also meticulously identified the specific professional skills required for the field she wanted to enter. She then focused her discerning study efforts on building specialized abilities in that area. This was the opposite of my approach—frantically trying to boost my grades haphazardly without even clearly understanding what path I was pursuing or what I truly wanted to do. Watching my sister, I learned that since human time and energy are limited, unless you’re a natural-born all-rounder gifted in every area, you need to focus intensely on the field you want to pursue and strengthen your unique strengths.

Personality Introduction

She is the type who always prepares a detailed plan before undertaking any task and then executes it in practice. As a child, I vividly observed from close up that the secret behind my sister’s versatile talents across various fields actually stemmed from setting firm goals, never missing a beat in her efforts, and investing far more time than others. Thorough preparation and meticulous planning significantly reduce the likelihood of failure. It also builds familiarity with the actual situation, laying the groundwork for peace of mind.
Moreover, I deeply internalized her lesson: let your efforts work in the shadows, but let your results shine under the light where everyone can see. This drove me to hone my acting skills, presenting my abilities with such calmness that it seemed ‘as if I were born with them’. By deeply internalizing my sister’s advice—that to stand out and dominate others, one must confidently demonstrate their abilities as if starting from a different baseline—I consistently secured advantageous positions in various competitions, allowing me to fully unleash my potential.

Values

Know your enemy and know yourself, and you will win a hundred battles. Applied to job hunting, ‘the enemy’ refers to the company I wish to join and discerning the virtues and competencies they require, while ‘myself’ means possessing the discernment to reflect on whether I truly possess the matching abilities. Just as any mutual exchange requires alignment between what the other party seeks and what I possess, becoming the talent a company truly desires demands more than merely striving to be highly capable or knowledgeable. It requires focusing efforts on refining one’s qualities specifically around the competencies the company needs.
Moreover, since developing standout abilities that set you apart requires significant time, failing to select specific areas of your existing qualities for focused self-training risks positioning you as a mediocre candidate who appeals to no particular job. Just as in art or literature, where one must allocate effort appropriately—focusing on essential themes or descriptive elements while consciously relaxing elsewhere—human effort must also be guided by such calculated prioritization.

Motivation for Application and Post-Employment Aspirations

No matter how advanced technology becomes or how sophisticated civilization grows, the fundamental driving force behind a company’s operation still relies heavily on people. In an era where higher education is taken for granted, establishing a platform for mutual exchange between companies seeking talent and job seekers striving to navigate the narrow competitive market is becoming increasingly vital. Your company aligns the needs of both businesses and job seekers, refining the qualities each values most. You strive to reduce the socially problematic unemployment rate and provide a dedicated platform where mutually satisfying transactions can occur.
Observing my older sister, who cultivated herself through iron-willed self-discipline from a young age to become the ideal talent she aspired to be, I repeatedly realized how crucial job hunting is in a person’s life. Seeing your company play such a prominent role in this job market, I aspired to become a cog in the wheel that helps society run more smoothly. Therefore, my goal is to strive to become a person of balanced qualities who can promote both the long-term development of society and the enhancement of the company’s capabilities.
