This blog post explores how a candidate with both accounting experience and marketing skills can effectively convey their strengths in a management support resume.
Family Motto
“Growing up diligently under a family motto emphasizing sincerity”
Our family motto is ‘sincerity’. My father worked at a public corporation for over 20 years, living his entire life as a public servant. The one thing he always emphasized to his children was to be sincere. At first glance, the word ‘sincerity’ might sound like overly commonplace or trite advice. But his words carried a deeper message about one’s attitude toward life, going beyond simply urging us to study hard.
Father taught that it’s more important to persistently do even the smallest task for at least four seasons—meaning over a year—than to work hard for just a day or two. It wasn’t just about working hard; it was about learning the value of sincerity through the process of consistently repeating something and discovering its meaning for oneself. For instance, even when choosing a hobby, his advice was not to abandon it after a fleeting interest, but to persist over time and find personal joy and fulfillment within it.
That aspect of my father served as a role model for me for a long time. He never once appeared disheveled, balancing the responsibilities of raising children as a parent with his duties as a public official. He never fixated on promotions or made reckless choices for big money; instead, he placed greater value on the satisfaction gained from resolving small inconveniences for local residents. He was someone who felt true pride not in grand achievements, but in quietly holding his ground and helping others.
I always admired how he rose at a set time each morning, starting his day with light exercise, and how he treasured time with his family after work, attentively caring for his household. That example gradually became the standard for my own life, inspiring me to resolve that I too would become someone who loves their work and performs it responsibly and consistently. The word ‘sincerity’ became more than just a daily habit for me; it became the very center of my life.
I believe the value of sincerity I learned through my father’s life will serve as a steadfast anchor, allowing me to move forward unwaveringly, no matter which path I choose.
School Days
“A Path Starting with Practical Work and Leading to University”
During high school, I attended an accounting-focused vocational high school where I received practice-centered education. Our school offered a curriculum and learning environment dedicated to intensive accounting studies, and I gained diverse practical experience in the Financial Accounting Department. Learning to use computerized accounting programs and software allowed me to develop skills applicable to real work, not just theoretical knowledge. This training proved invaluable when I entered the workforce after graduation. Since proficiency in accounting software was essential for performing accounting tasks, I started with basic data entry and gradually expanded my responsibilities to include budget planning and settlement management. Working as part of the financial accounting team at a small but well-organized company, I took my responsibilities seriously. This dedication earned me a reputation as a “sharp and responsible employee.”
Choosing to enter the workforce immediately after high school graduation was, looking back now, an excellent decision. Among my peers, many who went to university found themselves wandering between their major and career paths or struggling to find suitable jobs. In contrast, I steadily built practical skills and experience, creating a tangible career path, which gave me great satisfaction. Of course, I never lost my passion for learning while working. Since I had the goal of eventually attending university to formally study business administration, I continued my business studies through a self-study degree program while working. The self-study program provided textbooks and lectures in a systematic way, offering an education comparable to university-level courses. This also allowed me to build a solid theoretical foundation.
After completing three years of practical experience, I enrolled in the business administration department of a four-year university for the first time at age 23. Having already gained practical experience, the major courses weren’t difficult. In fact, my deepening academic understanding made studying even more enjoyable. I developed a particular interest in content marketing within the business faculty, chose related majors, and was able to fully immerse myself in studying what I’d always wanted to learn. To go beyond theory and maintain practical skills, I joined a marketing club and gained hands-on experience by directly participating in marketing projects through external activities.
The experience gained by balancing practical work and academics became more than just a resume; it shaped a career with my own distinct character. I believe the choices I made during that time, taking one step at a time toward my dreams while grounded in reality, have forged who I am today. Now, building on that experience, I want to continue forging my own path on a broader stage.
Internal and External Activities
“Learning Practical Marketing Through Diverse Part-Time Work Experiences”
During my time at university, I cultivated practical marketing skills through various part-time jobs. Before entering university, I worked in a finance team for about three years to save for tuition. After starting university, I continued working part-time to cover living expenses and tuition fees. It wasn’t solely for financial reasons. While I had a personal sense of responsibility not wanting to burden my parents, I also clearly intended to expand my own potential by experiencing diverse work environments.
My first part-time job was at a convenience store. Beyond simply handling transactions at the counter, I conducted market research by comparing prices and product assortments with nearby convenience stores. Since there were three other convenience stores of a similar type around the store I worked at, I proactively analyzed the operational strategies of these competing stores and presented the data to the store owner. This allowed me to experience a role beyond that of a simple part-time worker; I contributed as a practitioner involved in business strategy.
Later, while working part-time at Lotteria, I gained a deep appreciation for the importance of teamwork. Unlike the convenience store, which operated individually, this fast-food restaurant functioned as a team unit, making coordination between staff members paramount. Operating on a cooperative shift system rather than fixed rotations, seamless communication was essential for quick order fulfillment. I flexibly handled various roles as needed, including kitchen prep, dishwashing, and counter duties. During peak hours, efficient division of labor became even more critical. I received high praise for maintaining a friendly demeanor while staying fully focused on my tasks.
As I approached university graduation, I began working at ‘Smoothie King’, one of the key operating stores of Smoothies Korea. From this point, my role went beyond simple part-time work; I worked as a store manager, and the diverse experiences I had accumulated proved invaluable. As an assistant to the branch manager, I actively participated in content planning and marketing strategy development. I also took charge of tasks like assigning roles to part-time staff, processing payroll, and coordinating work schedules. Furthermore, I was deeply involved in analyzing the surrounding commercial district, directing market research to gather data, and developing store promotion plans based on these insights. As a business administration major, this practical experience also served as a win-win opportunity to directly apply classroom assignments in the field.
Thus, through diverse part-time experiences, I gained operational strategies beyond simple labor in real business settings. I cultivated a proactive approach with a marketing perspective, analyzing the field and solving problems. I am confident that these experiences—constantly testing my potential and building practical skills while balancing my studies—will serve as a solid foundation as I embark on my professional career.
Special Notes
Since my university days, I have harbored a strong desire to participate in overseas volunteer activities. Although I had no prior training experience, I set a goal to join an overseas volunteer program at least once. My experience putting this determination into action was volunteering in construction in Cambodia. I heard that Cambodia has many areas with extremely poor educational environments, yet within them, there are many young students studying diligently while dreaming of a bright future. Their passion for learning and their innocence moved my heart, and I headed to a remote village to participate in volunteer work.
Our volunteer team’s task was to improve the village’s outdated communal facilities and construct new structures essential for school life. Notably, the school where the children studied lacked separate cafeteria facilities and a playground, so we built makeshift structures to serve these purposes. Though simple temporary buildings, we constructed them structurally sound using cement and bricks to withstand drafts, rain, and natural disasters. For me, this was my first-ever construction volunteer experience. Every step of the process—getting my hands dirty and sweating through the work—felt unfamiliar yet deeply meaningful.
Above all, the fact that my efforts were genuinely helping someone’s life brought immense satisfaction. The process of people coming together under the name of volunteering to complete something was more than just building a structure; it was also an experience of building bridges between people. This precious experience made me resolve to continue volunteering consistently as part of my life even after becoming a working professional. Even now, that memory remains a significant turning point in my life, and I hope to return to an overseas volunteer site again if the opportunity arises.
Career History and Motivation
“I aspire to grow into a talent who contributes to all aspects of corporate operations based on business administration.”
Upon graduating from university, I began working in the finance and accounting team of a small-to-medium enterprise (SME) through a professor’s recommendation. In fact, I had prior experience working in an accounting team immediately after graduating high school, allowing me to naturally transition into this familiar environment. Working with similar accounting programs based on comparable processes, I diligently served in a goal-oriented department and handled assigned tasks proficiently.
However, majoring in Business Administration during college ignited a desire to contribute beyond merely managing numbers and data—I aspired to participate in corporate strategy development and overall operations. I developed a deep interest in planning tasks across broader domains, including marketing, PR strategy, market research, and company-wide management strategy formulation. This interest naturally led to a specific career goal of joining a management support team, a direction I have consistently maintained to this day.
Upon discovering Smoothies Korea’s management support team recruitment announcement, I became convinced that I want to contribute more actively to work encompassing corporate strategy and operations, building on the experience I’ve accumulated in finance and accounting departments. My ability to approach marketing and management strategy tasks from a financial perspective is both my strength and what I believe will be my greatest competitive advantage within the Management Support Team. Specifically, I am confident in my ability to combine a strong foundation in numbers and data with consumer-centric thinking to derive strategies that translate into tangible results.
I view the Management Support Team as a core department that coordinates overall corporate operations and drives growth. While the Finance Team organizes a company’s past and present, the Management Support Team uses that data to design and execute the future. I deeply resonate with this role and believe my experience and capabilities will enable me to make a tangible contribution to Smoothies Korea’s growth. As a seasoned professional equipped with extensive practical experience and managerial thinking, I will be a career employee who delivers tangible results.
