I want to live fully savoring each moment, not postponing today’s joy for tomorrow. We often get trapped in future-oriented thinking like “If you work hard now, your time will come someday,” “Save the fun for later,” or “You must build up your efforts while young,” sacrificing our present daily lives. As a result, we even set aside the value and joy we could experience right now, saving it all for ‘later’. It’s like how parents nag their children, “You can play once you get into college,” only for that to change to “You can play once you get a job,” and then to “You can play once you’ve settled into your job.”
But the reality is, by the time we’ve achieved much and try to harvest those postponed ‘fruits,’ we often lack the stamina or leisure to fully enjoy them. Moreover, their value or excitement may have already faded. Just as a ripe fruit tastes best when eaten in season, the rewards and joys of life must be savored at the right time to truly appreciate their flavor. No matter how precious something is, missing its season halves the satisfaction.
