In this blog post, we’ll share effective methods and key points for writing a self-introduction letter when applying to logistics and distribution companies.
Growth Process – Confidence Gained Through Sports
As a child, I was a clumsy kid who wasn’t particularly good at anything. I couldn’t do art or music like others, and because of that, I became fixated on the thought, “I’m a kid who can’t do anything well,” leading to daily scoldings from my teachers. Naturally, my confidence gradually declined, and I began to dislike going to school. Yet, I didn’t want my peers to see me like that, so I sometimes acted rebelliously for no good reason.
Then, in my second year of middle school, a turning point in my life arrived. In the midst of adolescence, I met a new teacher who specialized in track and field. Though fresh and inexperienced at the podium, this teacher had a greater impact on my life than anyone else. He constantly encouraged me, saying, “Running well is a natural talent,” and helped me discover, for the first time, something I could actually do well. That single phrase transformed my daily life. I joined the track team and willingly endured the tough, grueling training. For the first time, I had something I ‘had to do’. Once I set the goal of ‘getting into college through track’, studying gradually became more enjoyable too. That goal became the driving force that changed me.
Unfortunately, an unexpected accident ended my track career. After that, I realistically aimed for a logistics major because of its strong job prospects, which led me to my current university. At first, I felt disappointed by the narrower choices, but looking back, I was still living a life moving toward a goal. Above all, my strong desire to help my mother, who worked so hard, made my goal clear: ‘I will support my mother through stable employment.’ That goal allowed me to focus steadfastly on my studies without wavering. After entering university, I achieved results not only academically but also in various activities.
Throughout my university years, I consistently participated in sports club activities while maintaining a position near the top of my class. The reason all this was possible is clear: it was my ‘goal’. During my adolescence, a teacher who planted dreams within me deeply instilled in me the profound greatness of a life driven by purpose. I learned that when you have a goal, you can endure even the most difficult challenges. That realization set the course for my life and shaped who I am today. I believe that since then, I have trained myself to set goals for every big and small matter in life and advance unwaveringly toward them. I will continue to hold onto this attitude and walk faithfully toward the goals I set for myself.
Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality
“Ignorance is courage.” This phrase best captures the strength of my personality. Conversely, if I had to name a weakness, it would be that I “just do it.” I believe showing through action is more important than overthinking things. And just as everyone excels in different areas, I think meticulous planning and execution should be handled by those with that particular strength, while someone like me, strong in execution, should just get moving. That’s why I try to recognize and respect the abilities and personalities of those around me for what they are. Perhaps because of this attitude, I tend to have many people around me and maintain good relationships.
I am literally someone who ‘just does it’. While preparing to study abroad in the past, I worked part-time at a security company. It operated on a three-shift rotation system, and the night shifts were particularly grueling. As the youngest employee, I often had to pull consecutive all-nighters, barely sleeping and becoming physically exhausted. But it was work, so I had to do it. I didn’t complain; I just got it done. ‘Just doing it’ isn’t as easy as it sounds. You have to do it silently, without showing any dissatisfaction or signs of hardship. But thanks to that tenacity, I became the first part-timer at that security company to work steadily for a full year. Ultimately, I was able to use the money I saved to go abroad for my studies on my own. I believe I’m still young, and fatigue recovers quickly. That’s why even now, I challenge myself with the mindset of trying anything first and strive not to fear failure.
Of course, I have my shortcomings too. I tend to be cautious, so I sometimes struggle with making quick judgments or responding flexibly. Especially in situations requiring fast decisions, I feel somewhat burdened. But once I become familiar with the situation and grasp its flow, I perform tasks more reliably than anyone else. This is why I have confidence in myself. I am not afraid to learn and adapt diligently to new environments. Moving forward, I will continue to learn and grow earnestly, striving to become a dependable person who responsibly leads the tasks entrusted to me.
Extracurricular Activities
“I attended university honestly while working part-time!”
I want to center both my on-campus and off-campus activities around ‘part-time work’. During my university years, I earned the trust of professors and gained opportunities to work as a teaching assistant, assisting professors with their work on campus and experiencing various practical tasks. I squeezed in time outside of classes to go to the office and do TA work. Through this experience, I believe my somewhat blunt personality became more flexible. Skills like how to interact with people, how to answer the phone kindly, how to clean thoroughly, and how to meticulously prepare documents—the work as a TA was not just simple tasks but an important training period that solidly shaped me.
Outside of school, I mainly worked part-time at a logistics warehouse. Working hands-on there allowed me to naturally learn the entire logistics process, and the warm, caring atmosphere of the warehouse particularly suited my personality. I maintained good relationships with the older gentlemen I worked with there; I still keep in touch with one of them to this day. It wasn’t just a job to earn money; the emotional connection I learned through the relationships with my coworkers is also a very precious asset to me.
I continued part-time work even during my studies abroad. While studying in the US, my student visa conditions limited my working hours, but I diligently worked short shifts doing what’s often called “odd jobs” on-site. I also gained experience working in a US logistics warehouse. This allowed me to personally experience how the American system differs from Korea’s and understand the standards and methods used in a broader market. Experiencing America’s efficient and systematic approach firsthand allowed me to tangibly grasp how the concept of ‘rationality’ is applied in practical work.
Looking back, these part-time jobs, chosen somewhat by circumstance, taught me more than my major studies ever did. They honed my practical instincts, interpersonal skills, on-the-spot problem-solving abilities, and even shaped my attitude toward life. Based on these experiences, I am confident I can work diligently and proactively in any environment. I will cherish every opportunity given to me and always approach my work with a mindset of continuous learning.
Motivation for Application and Aspirations After Joining
“I will grow with KNL and help KNL grow.”
I learned about the profession of Logistics Manager in school and, through hands-on field work, personally experienced its importance and specialization. Logistics managers design rational logistics systems—covering cargo transportation, storage, loading/unloading, and packaging—based on specialized knowledge. They provide consulting and advisory services. They meticulously analyze the time, labor, and costs involved in moving, storing, and shipping goods. Based on this analysis, they build systems ensuring a company’s logistics management and support systems operate more economically and efficiently. I believe the core duty of a Logistics Manager is to manage all aspects of logistics—including unloading, packaging, storage, transportation, and distribution processing—in an integrated manner, driving tangible change and improvement.
The Logistics Managers I’ve encountered directly in the field were mostly meticulous and thorough, and above all, they had a precise understanding of the operational environment. One individual in particular stood out for their exceptional understanding of the work, strong execution skills, and outstanding communication abilities with field staff. Working alongside them made the job significantly easier and more enjoyable for us. That impression remains vivid to this day, and I still remember their name. I aspire to become that kind of person myself. I want to be a trusted logistics expert who understands the field better than anyone else and can operate systems more rationally through collaboration with employees.
If given the opportunity to join KNL Logistics, I aim to contribute not just to my personal growth, but to the collective advancement of the entire company. I will dedicate myself to helping KNL build a more systematic and efficient system, enhancing competitiveness across all import and export operations. My work experience in the United States and my exposure to diverse nationalities have equipped me with the flexibility to adapt to global work environments. I will be a logistics professional who thinks with my head, acts with my body, and runs on the ground in the field. In fact, I am still young and have already experienced diverse field settings, so the logistics field is by no means unfamiliar to me. Understanding the field better than anyone, I am confident I can work more wisely based on that experience. I will be someone who meticulously examines every corner, systematically manages to ensure the entire flow runs smoothly, and responds quickly and accurately when problems arise.
Finally, I promise to approach my work with a constant willingness to learn, endless passion, and consistent effort. I will not merely process assigned tasks but will actively think, improve, and strive to create an environment where everyone can work comfortably and efficiently. I sincerely hope to grow together with KNL and contribute to its future with my capabilities. Thank you.
